Lake House Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I went out for dinner and were a bit disappointed. My husband's steak was overcooked, but we never had a chance to remedy it as our waitress never came back to check to see how it was or even if we needed drink refills. The ambiance was so loud that we could barely have a conversation unless we wanted to yell at each other. For a $100 meal, I'd expect more.
Everything was great and the restaurant even accommodated my daughter that was 45 minutes late in joining us for dinner. We were all able to dine together and that made it very special..... The only complaint I would have was the noise level. We all had to yell to be heard but other than that, awesome! We would all go back but on a quieter evevning.
Had an excellent meal here! Very good food, each member of my party got something different and it was thoroughly enjoyed across the board. Waitress was attentive and friendly and all of the staff were very good with service and smiles. Had a great view from our table of the lake and could even see the lights of Toronto at night! It was busy but didn't feel overwhelming; would recommend a reservation on popular times.
We have two children (ages 9 and 11 girls)...when the waitress went to pour their water in the wine glasses in front of them, she made change comments about them being careful and not breaking the glasses. (The way it was sad was very strange and came across a bit offensive).
It set a weird tone on the service and I was annoyed the rest of the dinner.
The food was great, always is.
This was our first visit to the lake house. We started with a Caesar salad which wasn't very good. Some brown leaves and lacked flavour. The main course we chose was a steak with baby potatoes and veggies which was quite good. Had we ordered seafood I am sure we would have a different review as this is more known for that type of food. Overall it was good but not excellent. If we were to return it would be for the ambiance. A beautiful restaurant and very cozy.
I met my sister for lunch at The Lakehouse as a Christmas get together and selected the restaurant because it was a half way point between our two homes. We enjoyed the meal and the kitchen was very accommodating to a modification we requested. Service was good. The noise level in the restaurant was quite high which was distracting. This however may be because of the time of year with people celebrating and the place was very busy.
I will likely eat there again.
Had been wanting to try this place for a long time, so I was looking forward to it. Came on an early evening weeknight so it was only about half full but noise level was fairly high - maybe to be expected with holiday groups. Warm welcome and seated promptly in the room overlooking the lake, but at this time of the year, the early darkness eliminated any view so I can't comment on that. We liked the ambiance - not fancy, but comfortable. Service was fabulous - friendly, knowledgeable, attentive - the best part of the experience - thank you, Courtney! Unfortunately, the food did not measure up. Caesar salad was fine but not great. Wild mushroom pizza the same. Veal parmigiano was disappointing - thick, rubbery, not crisp and bland and accompanied by a pile of mediocre spaghetti with a little uninspired tomato sauce. Small dessert cups are a nice touch. Coffee was good. The serving sizes were good. An ok meal, but not good quality value for the moderately high price. Overall, nice place, great service but the food we had won't bring me back anytime soon.
Been to this venue many times; never disappoints. Busy for lunch on a Monday - tells you something. Enjoyed two appetizers between 2 of us, yummy mussels and a brie concoction that was dreamy good.
Service impeccable from the hostess and the waitress throughout the meal
After the fire, my friends and family were worried that it would not re-open. Thankfully, the owners have kept it going and I am happy to revisit and recommend the Lakehouse for food, ambiance, and the view. The parking lot can awkward since the gravel lot becomes a mess in the winter. A good pair of boots remedies the problem but you might want to keep this in mind.
Had been before and thought it was great, but 4 out of the 5 of us ordered the veal parm on Sunday and only one ate most of it the rest of us myself included thought it was rubbery and did not eat more than a bite. It will be a while before I even think about going back, if at all. It was most disappointing as it was my parents anniversary and and mom's 81 st birthday and we had just finished a winery tour...It was not a nice way to finish the day ..... the drive home was conversation about how bad dinner was. Very Disappointed !!! Expensive waste of a dinner !!
Service was the best part of the experience. Prices are decent, food was average. To be fair I did not have dinner I had chicken tacos for lunch so there’s not much you can do with that. Had a window seat, view of the lake was really nice, atmosphere is average as far as decor goes. Overall experience was really good due to service.
The wait between our appetizer and main dish was 20 min or more. The baked potato was cold and the chicken supreme dry. But the view was nice. Not sure I would return. The value and the taste did not match for me. A high priced meal should have incredible taste. Our waitress Gigi was very pleasant. If the service was bad as well I would have complained to the manager. She saved my visit.
Salad was great. Entrees were bland and the wine was marked up 3x the value. Dessert was good and coffee was ok. I don't mind spending but gauging is not appreciated. Perhaps lunch is more reasonable but dinner is not good value for your money in my opinion and only based on one experience.
We enjoyed our early dinner at The Lake House. A cozy venue at this time of year with 3 fireplaces for added ambience. Lovely table with a lake view. Fun watching the lake activity; freighters lining up to enter the Welland Canal.
Quality of food and service is always consistent and dining experience is memorable. When we leave we are already looking forward to the next visit.
