unfortunately, after a number of visits to Lake Elmo Inn, we will no longer visit. Our Walleye was dry, overcook, and very fishy. 5;30 reservation, sat in the bar area rather than the dining. area. I'm assuming there is different management recently.
The food was delicious, the atmosphere always great, and our server, Mo, did an excellent job! We celebrated 2 birthdays and I had ordered a cake ahead of time. Everything went so smoothly! Always enjoy going to Lake Elmo Inn!
Everything was outstanding! We come here every year for our Anniversary. We love it!
I am never disappointed when I visit Lake Elmo Inn. They are more expensive than I usually go for, but the service is exceptional and the extra touches like lemon sorbet palate cleanser, cinnamon scented warm washcloths at the end of the meal, and a chocolate covered strawberry to top it all off make this a good value and an experience to savor.
Anniversary
Always enjoy the Inn. Staff is always friendly and the food is always good. Thanks
My husband and I enjoyed a remarkable dinner the other evening as we celebrated our anniversary. The food was so tasty and our plates were "almost" too beautiful to eat. We usually spend Valentine's Day dinner at The Lake Elmo Inn, but we were on vacation this year at that time, so we thought the restaurant would be a great way to celebrate our special day.
I had the 4 oz. filet mignon with their special mashed potatoes and delicious vegetables - tasty carrots and green beans. While that size of filet sounds small, it was very appropriate given the other items on my plate. Oh, full disclosure, I ordered Hollandaise sauce to go with my steak - and I almost licked the silver container because the sauce was that good.
We dined in a room off of the main room at a nice, spacious booth. We were able to enjoy a lovely conversation without shouting above others or competing with music.
My husband had the special that night, prime rib, which looked leaner than most I've seen. He said it was delicious! At $23, it was a great choice.
Aside from the meal, our server, Lisa D., was topnotch! I can't recall a recent time when I had someone go out of her way to make us feel so special. She was there for our every need, which really there weren't many once she served our meal.
I can't wait to return to The Lake Elmo Inn - so glad I live in the east metro!
Promising birthday dinner went into failure mode due to undercooked entrees. We love this place & know it's pricey, but high-end food & drink and experienced staff has always made it worthwhile.
Complimentary champagne was offered to celebrate & a pre-sample was given prior to our selection of wine. Beer cheese soup (w popcorn) was excellent. However, the "medium" prime rib was hardly cooked & "well done" beef tornadoes were barely seared. All the side dishes were fine, but entrees were returned for more cooking. While the prime was now medium, the beef was now medium rare & then the manager appeared. He said they'd take it back for a 3rd try. The 2 medallions became sliced flat tenderloin (now well done) but by then we were tired of trying & took most of it home.
Server worked hard, but kitchen had 3 strikes trying to get medallions "well done." Another manager may have offered to comp a dessert or drink, but instead discussed our issue w staff in front lobby about 20' from our table so, sadly, we could hear discussion re: "not comping the meal."
We may be old school in our taste for dining at places like Jax Cafe, Lowell Inn & Kozlac's(RIP), because it makes a special night out just that much classier.
It's too bad that my wife's birthday dinner at Lake Elmo Inn left us disappointed :(
We have been going to the Lake Elmo Inn for years. The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. The Lake Elmo Inn is our go to place!
This was my return to the restaurant based upon the managers appeal to return and see if things had been fixed that were incorrect on my previous visits. I must say that everything was superb. Our waitress, Becky, was very good and the food was good to. I am glad to see that the service has improved.
Great spot for a quiet dinner with friends. Excellent food and service!
Most tasty steak we have ever had!! Worth every penny!! All of the food was amazing!!
Will definitely go back!!!!
A very nice meal with friends. Quite and comfortable. Easy to talk and visit. As always, the food and service was great.
We had an excellent dinner and received special attention for our two birthday celebrants. It was a delightful evening. We will return.
My husband and I loved everything about Lake Elmo Inn for Easter! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed, beautiful table, friendly staff, and food was Amazing! everything was very special! This is our 2nd time here and it was just what I remembered. Thank you!
This was our third annual visit for the seafood buffet with friends. LEI changed it this year - and not for the better. You had to order your seafood entrees separately and then wait 20 minutes for very small portions. 2 pieces of shrimp, 1 scallop (even though the menu called it scallops with an "s - there was only 1), small piece of prime rib (it was too well done - you didn't get your choice), 4 cluster crab legs, and there were no potatoes or other side dishes with the exception of salads on the cold entree buffet. Some - not all entrees were served with very small portions or rice or potatoes. there were 2 of us that ordered off the regular menu - our food arrived cool (not hot), I ordered fried shrimp - it was not hot - as I would have wanted. I ordered a loaded baked potato - by the time I put the loaded stuff on - the potato was cold - I had to ask the server to put it in the microwave to warm it up. The asparagus I paid extra for - was served less than lukewarm and had no flavor - no even butter. My husband ordered a filet mignon and his was also served lukewarm. Although the food tasted good - I expect more of LEI but it definitely didn't come through Friday night. the Server said their management felt there had been waste in the past which is why they changed up how they did the buffet - but we won't be back again for it unless they change it back - they also increased the price to $65 for the buffet - which was a misguided attempt - it was definitely not a seafood buffet. Very misleading. And we were there over 3 hours due to having to wait so long between ordering. Dumb idea -
The service and food were both great. The staff was friendly and very attentive. Always enjoy eating there.
Lake Elmo Inn is a very nice place for lunch or dinner. The food is excellent, the service is good. However this is a pricey place, our bill was $194 for a family of four (a teenage girl and boy).
The Lake Elmo Inn is a dining institution. Known as a great place to dine throughout the Twin Cities greater metropolitan area. Superb atmosphere, exceptional staff and great food. The only complaint I can think of is that their portions are too large.
We love the Lake Elmo Inn! Great, great service, beautifully remodeled dining room, fabulous food and drinks!
Love Lake Elmo Inn...the food is fantastic and the atmosphere is unique. You have to check out their salt and pepper shaker collection! The service is always spectacular. Well worth your money. Have to admit, I'm almost 60 and I felt like a young chick! The elderly are frequent patrons of the Lake Elmo Inn. Great place to take Grandma and Grandpa for a celebration!
Beccie was lots of fun as a waitress and we had excellent food and service.
Great place, excellent food. Never been disappointed.
Lake Elmo Inn has always been a favorite for us. You can expect consistently high quality food and excellent service. The Sunday Brunch continues to be the best in the Twin Cities. The choices are many and always done with good preparation.
The Sunday Brunch is absolutely amazing...well worth the 40 minute drive!
The service was impeccable. It was obvious that the restaurant prides itself on great customer service. That can be hard to find at even the nicest of restaurants. I would definitely go back again.
We had reservations and were seated promptly. Although there was a rather large table with children next to us and the noise level high, once they left, it was much better. The food was excellent and service was spot on. I do not recall our servers name but she was very excellent and price wise was definitely within reason.
Always good food and service! One should never miss the desserts!
Lake Elmo Inn has been our favorite restaurant for decades for special occasions. Always excellent food, and great service. So many special touches!
What is not to love about Lake Elmo Inn? This restaurant is a perennial favorite and for good reason. The staff is friendly, the service is attentive and the food is delicious and leans toward Comfort food.
The food is sensational! That staff is curteous, professional and friendly. The restaurant is classy but not too formal.
Lake Elmo Inn is the "go to" restaurant choice. The food is always delicious and the consistency of the meals guarantees that there are no "bad" surprises. It seems like the Chef tries new food preparations for his Tuesday brunch and those are a treat to try! Lake Elmo Inn is worth the drive and never disappoints.
It was wonderful celebrating Maddie and Makena’s tenth birthday. Lake Elmo Inn went out of their to make them feel extra special with nonalcoholic champagne and birthday plates.
Had some problems with food which isn’t normal for this restaurant, and the server didn’t really do anything to make it right
A fine dining experience in a quaint restaurant setting. Food was very good. Service excellent. Would have appreciated more vegetarian or chicken options.
Celebrated birthday and wedding anniversary with a group of 10 friends. Restaurant ambiance was wonderful and staff could not have been nicer. Everyone commented on how delicious their meal choice was including: salmon, steak, sunnies or walleye!
We have lived in Lake Elmo for 47 years, and dining here is a tradition for our family. Award winning food is not trendy - it takes hard work to plan and prepare excellent food. Kudos to the staff.
First experience was fantastic! Fillet Mignon was done perfectly and the sides were almost equally as good (but.. come on now.. its steak so cant beat that). We also appreciated the added gestures, such as the lemon sorbet, the chocolate covered strawberries and etc.
Our waitperson was very attentive. She offered champagne to celebrate anniversary. She checked in with us several times. We have been to the Lake Elmo Inn several times and will return
Awesome food, great service, very pleasant overall experience
