The pomegranate chicken is so succulent and wonderful. I enjoyed every last piece of it. My wife also enjoy her filet mignon kabob. The flat bread with marinated dipping oil is so addictive. I could just keep on eating it and feel very satisfied.

Excellent meal. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, room between tables, delicious food. There were 2 items (of about 15) that I wouldn't order again, but I would very happily come back here in the future.

We were particularly impressed with a delicious salmon special and their classic lamb pasta dishes. Portions were generous and prices quite fair for the high quality of the cooking. All diners receive an unusual fresh-baked flatbread with an olive oil and herb dip as a complimentary starter. It was very tasty. They offer a variety of beers including a nice local Santa Cruz IPA.
Definitely would come back again when ready for a celebratory evening out.

Friendly staff, very good food and service. ...the only thing that I didn't like was that I forgot my bag with left overs, I came back 5 minutes later and they already had thrown it out in the garbage :(

Laili is one of (the?) best restaurants in Santa Cruz. An upscale take on Mediterranean food, good wine and beer list, patio dining. Great for business lunch or date night.

It was our first dining experience here and it was as amazing as all the reviews. Our Server Jennifer was outstanding and the cuisine left us with a new restaurant to frequent! Wonderful Experience!

Laili is always a good option. Healthy choices, great wine list and the staff is amazing. I love to dine outside (weather permitting) and we were there for NYE and it was festive and fun but not over the top. We ordered the pear flat bread and I ordered the salmon and my friend ordered the filet mignon kibobs. We will be back!

This is consistently our favorite restaurant in Santa Cruz. We went this past New Year's Eve. Food was great as always -- we love the lamb shank. Service quick and efficient even though the place was packed. Would give it a five on ambiance except it can be quite noisy. We requested a table near the front window, which is quieter and makes for great people watching.

The courtyard is closed in the winter . . . even though we have weather that's in the 60's! Please, please open it!
The service was slow. Our waitress was overloaded by a table of 11 that came in after us and we were neglected as a result. Couldn't someone else have stepped in to help?

Laili is one of our family favorites. Indeed, my husband requested to have his birthday meal there. The food is fantastic, one of the best in Santa Cruz. They have something for everyone, including a very picky teenager and preteen. The vegetables are fresh and prepared al dente. The chicken kabob is my favorite. Skip the rice and the sauces and its Paleo friendly. My daughter had the beet salad which was also fantastic. I gave service only 3 stars because the waitress spilled hot coffee on me. For ambience, I might have given it a 4, but the staff continually opened the door to the outside patio, propping it open and allowing the very cold night air to blast our table. We asked several times to keep the door shut, and my husband finally had to get up to close it...and they propped it open again. I ate the rest of my dinner in my down jacket. Guess the hot coffee spill was a warm-up from the staff.

Laili is a local favorite for us, and we have never been disappointed. This visit was on Christmas Eve, and the restaurant was pleasantly busy. (Had it not been late December--what passes for winter in Santa Cruz--we would have happily chosen to be in the courtyard, which is a delightful space of greenery-covered walls and several tables.) The food was predictably good. We always have trouble showing enough restraint to get beyond an assortment of vegetarian appetizers. Our particular appetizer favorite is the aushak (leek dumplings). Tonight, we also ordered the trout (which is a regular part of the menu) and a flatbread special for the evening. Both were excellent. One other highlight for the evening was our server, who was superb--engaging, attentive, and knowledgeable.

Gets pretty busy and loud. Might be a wait even if there are tables open and you have a reservation. However, I love the food. Sauces and spreads are delicious. I wish they had a milk alternative so I could have the chai.

I made my reservation for a early sunday dinner and we were about 13 minutes late got a call from the hostess and was so sorry we were running late and when we walked in 2 minutes later we were scolded saying the table could have been given away. Yeah and my business has gone away now.

Excellent authentic Afgan cuisine.

Wall decorations are excellent photographs--many Afganistan renderings and others are more generic but highly artistic. The walls are two predominate colors somewhat unique to the culture. The walls include some cloth (silk?) hangings from ceiling to floor. Soooo, well appointed!

Great restaurant for conversation. It's relatively very quiet--loved it!

Plating is beautiful. Excellent variety of food choices with a very strong offer of vegetarian dishes.

Excellent value for the meal.

Highly recommend trying it out!

I've eaten often at Laílí's and enjoyed their food and service enormously. Their presentations
are noteworthy and their butternut appetizer with flatbread is something we always start with. Their wine list is not extensive but it is impressive and doesn't disappoint. I strongly recommend the restaurant as one of the best in Santa Cruz.

Laili was recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. With a menu that's reminiscent of the handcrafted Mediterranean cuisine found in much larger cities, the extensive wine list and spacious, modern interior make for an evening to remember. Service was polished but friendly, and the vegetarian options were abundant.

Great food and friendly staff. Service technique needs some improvement such as not clearing my friends’ entree plates and offering them dessert menus while I am still in the middle of enjoying my main course. The food is really what makes the difference; temperature and flavors were excellent.
