This place never disappoints (except on Mondays—because they are closed). Had a party of 10 and service was great as was the food
Table was not ready on time due to severe understaffing but otherwise fine meal.
Francisco, our server, was awesome! thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This place is amazing! My wife and I loved it here.
My new favorite restaurant in Santa Cruz. Ordered the filet kebabs and asked for extra vegetables because I didn’t want rice. Vegetables were cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned still crunchy but very flavorful. Started with the Mediterranean sampler plate, and loved it. The Baba Ganosh was great. Also the Caesar salad with cilantro was excellent. Wasn’t planning on dessert but saw a number of items with Cardamom. Crème brûlée was fabulous.
Music festival was going on outside our window, which was really fun to watch. Service was excellent. I will be back.
we go a lot and really love the food and all around nice place to eat----
First time here in a date with a beautiful authentic girl I wanted to impress. Great food. Great service. Comfortable upscale ambiance. In one word...Bingo. Can't wait to return. Opa!
Great food and great service. We will definitely be back!
Always a great choice for lunch. Outside patio is very nice when the weather is good. However, it was raining, so we sat inside. Noise level is a bit high but better than at dinner (Note: this is sadly true of most restaurants). We shared the Mediterranean plate as an appetizer, which was plenty for the two of us. My friend had the pomegranate eggplant, which is a very substantial portion. I had their soup of the day, a silky roasted cauliflower and saffron soup with the right amount of spice. Plenty of nearby parking and just steps away from the central downtown mall.
We went for my grandmother’s birthday and it was such a great experience! The environment was so nice with the outside being this small entryway and the inside opening up to a large environment that was great to be in. The food was fantastic and the event turned out so well. I was able to reserve a table online within about an hour of reserving and my meal tasted great. They do great lamb dishes and I got the braised lamb pasta. My uncle and I both agreed that the pasta tasted homemade. Prices were reasonable for a sit-down place. I would 100% recommend this for a birthday or a romantic night out.
Food was delicious but a little expensive. Will go back when I visit Santa Cruz again.
We really enjoyed the food; vibrant flavors and very fresh. Our waiter was attentive but not annoying. Recommend the braised lamb pasta and filet mignon kebabs. The cardamom creme brûlée was delicious! We definitely will be back!
I crave the Mediterranean platter! So incredibly delicious!
Got a gift certificate from family and enjoyed the delicious and creative menu. Plenty to eat. Loved the flavors. I recommend the eggplant Pomegranate - to die for. My husband got the Lamb shank but quite enjoyed mine! We had a nice and lively conversation with moderate noise level. No shouting. Service was there when you wanted! Perfect.
We spent a weekend in Santa Cruz for my husband's 40th birthday and celebrated with dinner at Laili. Overall, the food was excellent and -- having ordered two appetizers, two mains, two desserts, and three drinks -- the meal was surprisingly great value at just over $100 for two.
Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, on-time reservations... very creative and good tasting food. Only caveat... when your set-up dishware and glassware sticks to the table, it means exactly what you think it means.
I only go to Laili for special occasions because it has that feel to me. Great food and wine, wonderful ambiance inside or out, it's a treat!
Amazing! The food is creative, delicious and fresh.
As usual, we had a wonderful dinner at Laili. We have never been disappointed. The service is attentive without being overbearing, and the food is always delicious. Though the menu seldom varies, it's just fine as we like what they offer. Love the ambiance, love this restaurant!
Wonderful dinner at Laili for meeting 4 friends we hadn't seen in some time. Delicious food and great ambiance. The restaurant also let us visit without any rush for the table - very European.
Looking forward to returning in warmer weather to sit in the courtyard.
I made a reservation and I have to wait, they put three of us in the small little two-person table, the service was OK, it was nothing to rave about. The food was good but overpriced for what we got. I did not appreciate the small table and I do not appreciate the customer service
Can't believe we never went before it was really delicious. I do recommend reservations for dinner
Great tasting food, good location and amazing desserts !!!
Good place for get-togethers with friends and family
Great food with options to satisfy every palate
Very good food, vegetarian selections, minimum noise.
Made reservations for lunch on Valentines and arrived a few minutes early. The hostess appeared overwhelmed and unsure of herself and job duties. The food server was just off It seemed like he just didn’t even care about his job. The place is noisy probably due to the high ceilings. The food was good and tasty and at the right temperature but I will not go back.
There are so many good restaurants in the area that this one can be skipped. Food is mediocre and pricey, service is dismal, atmosphere is the one redeeming quality.
We go to Laillis when we want outstanding food, friendly wait staff and outstanding service. Always a happy experience.
Laili is a favorite for celebrating special occasions and 'regular' life. Among the draws are the consistently delicious and creatively prepared food (we all had the cauliflower soup and grilled salmon, which were superb); personable servers who are friendly and attentive without being overbearing (though we should not have had to ASK for refill on our empty water jug); the ambience is aesthetically pleasing and, as noted above, 'energetic.' For someone with hearing loss, it's a very challenging environment, especially with large and loud parties (as were present Sunday evening). All-in-all worth the distractions.
We celebrated Valentine's day early and what a treat it was to eat at Laili My Cauliflower soup was creamy and delicious. My wife had the apricot chicken flatbread and literally hummed with each bite. My lamb shank pasta dish was savory and spiced just right , Both of us exclaimed what unique flavors hit our palates. We will certainly come back.
Making a reservation is a nightmare. You can't talk to a real person or ask a question such as are dogs allowed on the patio. When the reservation is made they email you to confirm it but you can't reply to that email. We tried to make a reservation to eat outside and went back and forth and back and forth, couldn't talk to a real person and couldn't reply to their emails. In fact, when we got to the restaurant to eat, it turns out the patio was closed and we had no way of knowing that since that wasn't mentioned on the website nor could we speak to anybody about it. We had no interest in eating inside but it was a special occasion and many of us had gathered so we were kind of stuck inside.
I've tried to call in the past and when they are closed on Mondays you can't talk to a real person either. So generally even though we want to go there we don't because it's so impossible to talk to anyone.
I would highly recommend that they get rid of the Open Table reservation process and just have staff make the reservations. We would certainly dinair more often if we didn't have to go through such a Troublesome process.
Wonderful time. I will return next time I’m in the area. Lamb shank was amazing. Service was great. Good Vibes!
Delicious lunch - we ordered 3 selections, asked them to serve “family style” (no split charge that way) and shared everything. We recommend the squash dish for the appetizer. Plenty to share with 2 or even 3. The chicken kabobs were very tender. We really enjoyed the meal a lot. A very inexpensive parking garage is nearby so that makes it easy as well.
I had my best meal yet at Laili's last weekend. The salmon special was fantastic and the spinach salad was superb. Even the wine was good.
We tried out many of the fine restaurants in Santa Cruz during our week's vacation. Laili lived up to its #1 rating. It will be our first stop on a return trip. It was still winter, so we did not get to experience the courtyard, but we hear it is the best.
As always, good food, solid service, relaxed seating
Great food and great table service. Weird service to get seated, inexperienced staff at front to get seated. We had reservations but they seated two parties without reservations before they seated us. This is Laili's achilles heal and always has been for some unknown reason. Other than that frustration everything else is great!!
Delicious! As always.
Great as always. Only restaurant in Santa Cruz I ever take friends to. Only complaint is the noise level inside for lunch. Quiet conversation is difficult. Need more sound damping on walls and ceiling. Also, given how warm winter days are now, really need to have patio dining open as often as possible. Much quieter outside.
Though we are picky vegetarians, we have found our special "go to" on the menu which we love and do not tire of it! We always suggest Laila's when friends ask our advice for a great dinner with non-boring and not your usual menu options! Service is fantastic; everyone so friendly; food is served hot and quickly!
