Love Laila! Staff is great, food is even better.
Absolutely phenomenal across all boards
We had an 8 pm reservation, to make a 9:30 show. We were seated around 8:15. Our waitress was very nice (the hostess seemed pretty frantic) and did a good job making up for lost time, though one of our orders was lost (she make up for it with nice bowl of stew while we waited for the missing dish). The food, frankly, is only so so. Not bad, just not great. The bathroom is kind of outside of the restaurant- shared with other facilities?) and not nice. So... not really a fancy or special place. I'd recommend the food court (abbott square market?) across the way- an interesting, informal experience with a terrific cocktail spot. I can't believe people were lined up and waiting 45' for Laili.
Our server was oblivious to our needs. Constant reminders about our meal. Kinda spaced out?
Laili is always delicious! This time we were able to sit in the courtyard for lunch and it was lovely. We had an especially good server - genuinely friendly, just attentive enough - and he gave us good advice about the menu. The chicken flatbread was as yummy as always. My friend had a special pasta with salmon. Neither of us could eat the whole serving. Highly recommended!
Had a nice birthday lunch with friends. Friendly and helpful server--I ordered a veggie plate to use instead of the flatbread for tasting the wonderful eggplant, yogurt, and tahini appetizer. The roasted cauliflower was very tasty! My friends enjoyed their lunches--one had a chicken entree and the other had lamb. The patio is beautiful on a nice day!
Birthday dinner delightful as usual. Our waiter Caesar was great. Another waiter broke a few glasses @ nearby table - we notified hostess of glass shards on floor & under our table ; surprised when hostess said she would sweep when time allowed then seated next party of 4 ! What ?
Laili is our favorite restaurant in Santa Cruz. The food is always excellent and the service is great. I have been a regular customer since it opened. We have celebrated many birthdays there in their beautiful outdoor seating area.
Thank you Laili!
Great food, great service... but it was just too too noisy. My dinner guest & I could not hear each other without using loud loud voices that left me, by the time we left, hoarse. I'm still not sure if I heard her correctly, or her me. And the restaurant wasn't even full. Food was great but the space could use some extreme sound dampening help. It would have been a great time, if we could have heard each other. If your trying to get to know someone this is probably not the best place... but the food is great!
Warm and lively restaurant with excellent and delicious options; we enjoyed our dinner very much.
So loud it was hard to carry on a conversation. In the rain couldn’t use their great patio. Bouranee still delicious.
The food was outstanding, and the service was great! We will definitely recommend this wonderful restaurant.
All five 5 of us were happy with the generous portions as well as amazed how every dish was delicious. The price was very very reasonable. It's a great place to eat and enjoy and take your time savoring the food. Can't wait to do lunch outside when it gets warmer.
Spent 2 days in Santa Cruz and ate here twice. One dinner and one lunch. The food is tremendous. We loved everything that came to the table. The Pomegranate Eggplant is my 2nd favorite thing on the menu, next to the lamb and penne pasta. The Mediterranean Plate app is terrific as well. The roasted cauliflower rocked also. Great place to eat, this is a must try!
Always have a lovely time here. I especially like the creative menu the service is always prompt and courteous. The price is spot on.
We were sorely disappointed with the service and the food. As this was our 41st anniversary, we really wanted to sit in the courtyard but were told that reservations were not accepted however if there was space available we could be seated there. Imagine how we felt when the unoccupied courtyard was not made available to us by the hostess. We watched as people came in after us and were seated there and to make matters worse our waiter disappeared into the courtyard to serve other patrons. This was the beginning of our experience and it got worse from there. I don't mind paying a premium for food as long as I receive portions that justify the price. This was not the case. We'll never go back to Laili as there are too many good restaurants in town that will treat you respectfully and offer you a good meal for a fair price.
great food, atmosphere and service.
dining on the patio is special
Always a fun wonderful experience.....been here many times.....love the outdoor dining.....love it!!
Birthday! With baby... they were really wonderful!
Excellent Greek style restaurant. Food was excellent with great service
Wow, what a great restaurant Laili is!! My partner and I went for lunch on a Saturday. I liked the nice ambiance, everybody was super friendly and food was ABSOLUTELY delicious! Price was reasonable. Plus, garage is 1 minute walk. (It was only $1 for 2 hours during lunch time on Saturday.)
I had Mediterranean Plate with flat bread and Trout. They both were amazing. Laili definitely raised the mood of our Saturday!
One of the most well run restaurants I’ve seen. We arrived early for our reservation and opted to sit at the bar vs waiting for our table. We felt very taken care of by multiple members of the staff (it felt like customer attention was everyone’s job!) and the food/flavor was exceptional. We will definitely be back.
Good, well-prepared food at decent prices. On Saturday at 6:00 p.m., Laili was a tad noisy for our taste. We'll go midweek next time or have lunch there.
My husband and I love Laili and keep coming back but we have learned our lesson and make reservations at least 3 days in advance.
Had a great dinner here with my daughter. I did mention in my reservation it was her birthday, yet there was no mention of it when we dined.
Took my daughter and her friend while in Santa Cruz on spring vacation and it was delicious, interesting and expanding for both of them. The spices and tastes - hmmm!
The food here is delicious and the flavors are unique and well done. I've been many times and often come for nice occasions. The outdoor seating is in a beautiful setting and indoor seating provides a nice ambiance. Their flavors are well done and unique. My one critique would be that they seemed to have too few waiters for how busy it is the last few times I went, and so the service was slow (though the waiter was very nice and attentive for how busy he was).
From the Naan bread, to the main course, to the dessert, my dinning experience was scrumptious. The feel of the restaurant was warm and unique. The staff was delightful and knowledgeable. I can't wait to go back, and this time I'm bringing everyone I know.
I ordered the pomegranite chicken dish. It was sickly sweet and the chicken was over cooked and dried out.
This place never disappoints (except on Mondays—because they are closed). Had a party of 10 and service was great as was the food
Table was not ready on time due to severe understaffing but otherwise fine meal.
Francisco, our server, was awesome! thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This place is amazing! My wife and I loved it here.
My new favorite restaurant in Santa Cruz. Ordered the filet kebabs and asked for extra vegetables because I didn’t want rice. Vegetables were cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned still crunchy but very flavorful. Started with the Mediterranean sampler plate, and loved it. The Baba Ganosh was great. Also the Caesar salad with cilantro was excellent. Wasn’t planning on dessert but saw a number of items with Cardamom. Crème brûlée was fabulous.
Music festival was going on outside our window, which was really fun to watch. Service was excellent. I will be back.
we go a lot and really love the food and all around nice place to eat----
First time here in a date with a beautiful authentic girl I wanted to impress. Great food. Great service. Comfortable upscale ambiance. In one word...Bingo. Can't wait to return. Opa!
Great food and great service. We will definitely be back!
Always a great choice for lunch. Outside patio is very nice when the weather is good. However, it was raining, so we sat inside. Noise level is a bit high but better than at dinner (Note: this is sadly true of most restaurants). We shared the Mediterranean plate as an appetizer, which was plenty for the two of us. My friend had the pomegranate eggplant, which is a very substantial portion. I had their soup of the day, a silky roasted cauliflower and saffron soup with the right amount of spice. Plenty of nearby parking and just steps away from the central downtown mall.
