Lahaina Grill Ratings and Reviews
Regrettably I couldn’t give this a 5 star rating. Upon arrival the hostess graciously seated us prior to our reservation. Sandra, who was wonderful assisted our server Stacey. The gentleman who delivered our food was great and the food was excellent. The issue was with Stacey who unfortunately ruined the service experience. For starters, when she came to take our entree order I asked what she thought about the meatballs to which she responded “they’re just meatballs”...when she saw I was put off by her response she followed it up with “we’re not an Italian restaurant so we’re not known for our meatballs, I wouldn’t get them”. Way to sell your menu to patrons Stacey. We opted for the short rib and mahi mahi which were both very good. We started with the arugula salad and caprese salad which were both delicious. After dinner we were hoping to get dessert however we didn’t know if we had enough time as we needed to catch a shuttle back to our hotel at 10pm. We shared our concern with Stacey who looked at the time with us and she informed us that “you have plenty of time because the desserts come out quickly”. So we quickly made a decision and she wasn’t to be seen again until 9:40pm at which point it was too late given we had a 10 minute walk ahead of us. She neglected to come to our table because she was too busy chatting it up with her colleagues. Our table was very close to the server station and therefore we could hear that she was engrossed in a conversation having absolutely nothing to do with work. When she finally came to check on us, we told her we no longer had time to which she enthusiastically responded “ok!”. As restauranteurs ourselves this isn’t the level of service anyone should receive at this price point. At $50/entree and $25 per glass of wine we expected to be treated better. Disappointed that this wasn’t a better experience because it absolutely could of been. We left a 22% tip because we employ waitstaff. She didn’t deserve it or earn it.
We went for dinner to celebrate our 50 th anniversary. When we checked in we were greeted with "happy anniversary" and showed to a quiet table (29). Our picture was taken and sent to us by email. Service was excellent . Food was outstanding. My husband had the osso bucco and I had the fish special - monchong. We go out to eat often and I can say this meal was extraordinary. The anniversary dessert was a nice touch. I wish Lahina Grill was close to home!
We've dined at Lahaina Grill, annually, for about fifteen years, since the restaurant carried the David Paul name. We made a special trip from Wailea every year and kept coming back because we deemed the food the best in Maui. This last experience was terribly disappointing. A caprese-type appetizer was awash in balsamic, the tomato was tasteless and the price was $26. Outrageous. My wife's lamb was overpriced and ordinary. I suppose every restaurant eventually declines. We won't be dining at Lahaina Grill next year.
Have dined here many times and unfortunately was disappointed this time. Ask for a table in bar or front area. Hopefully you won’t get stuck by back door. Salad was swimming in dressing and entre was also a jus overload. Waiter was attentive and staff was excellent. Maybe better luck next time. Not a top 10 this time but always next year
Have eaten here several times. Food was great! We had been seated for about 15 minutes in the back, when two older women were seated next to us, very nice people. The problem that we experienced was their perfume was so overpowering we had a headache before our meals had finished we couldn’t wait to get out of there, we ordered no dessert. Not saying I wouldn’t come back, but that definitely took away from our evening. If this were to happen again, how would you suggest we address it to the management or front desk?
Food was more artistically interesting than tasty. Recommend to chef that tying herbs in cheesecloth would prevent dangerous and sharp elements from actually hurting us as we ate the French Onion Soup (wait staff said that that's how they cook it). Ravioli appetizer outstanding. . . should have stopped there. Other dishes beautiful to look at, but mediocre in flavor at best. Daily special was not special at all- actuallyl was quite dry. My companion said that the best part had to be the rolls and herb butter. Would not return.
My husband and I went there for our last dinner on Maui. Our waitress Stacy was extremely pleasant and efficient! Her assistant was also obviously trained well - very pleasant!
Started with a couple of cocktails - black martini!?! Yummy!
Shared the spring rolls and they were perfect.
I had the ahi tuna and my husband had another fish. Both better than any fish dish we have had for a long time (and we live in NYC!)
We shared the Road to Hana dessert - OMG!!!
Would love for this restaurant to be closer to home in spite of it being on the expensive side - but so worth it!!
We have put this restaurant on our must go list for serve rail years. Was disappointed that the only steak was a filet. The scollops were tasty but the thing we noticed was that they are using a lot more seasonings. Lost a lot of the natural flavors. Less is more sometimes.
It was only the two of us this time and our table was upfront and not as romantic .
I would recommend booking early and putting in a request for a better table. The staff is always amazing. Very respectful and happy. You will never feel rushed .
Yes we will continue to go.
While the food & service were very good, I was a bit disappointed with our meal this week, as it was not the usual best on the island dining experience. Opakapaka, the house speciality was not offered this particular evening, and the monchong served in its place was not nearly as tasty. I'll definitely return to Lahaina Grill, but our dinner this week was not worth the restaurant's high prices.
Love love love the Lahaina Grill. Been going for years and years, for special occasions and just to have a nice dinner out - we like to sit at the bar with the lovely bartenders, Mary and Annabel, and at tables with larger groups. The food is amazing, the service impeccable. A favorite in Maui.
An incredible meal with great service, start to finish. No surprise this place was still packed at 9pm. Best Caesar salad I’ve ever had with plentiful Parmesan and white anchovies mixed with a delicious dressing. The Ahi, with its caramelized onions and vanilla bean rice was wonderful. The triple berry pie has to be sampled for dessert. Expensive and a bit noisy but easily the best restaurant on Maui.
