The food is excellent but a little pricey. The service was good as well.
I was looking for a quiet, cozy and intimate anniversary dinner, but instead I got loud, unfriendly and very far from delicious experience. The server was clearly in a hurry, they forgot to bring the appetizer, the food was thrown on the table in front of us, not mentioning the level of noise in the room that prevented us from carrying a conversation... Unfortunately, the food itself could not compensate for all of this inconvenience. My steak was cooked properly (medium rare like I asked), but wasn't fresh and grilled over a gas grill... Potatoes were burned and my husband's chicken burger was just old and dry... I won't even mention the drinks... I researched this place online and looked at previous reviews and their website, and I would never suspected this would have happened. We were very disappointed, our anniversary dinner ruined and one thing is for sure, we won't be coming back.
The food was very tasty and service great. Noise level was high and with the band playing difficult to have a conversation with others at our table. Filled up quickly to capacity by late evening. If you want a quiet and intimate dinner, not the place to go on a Saturday night.
Any evening dining on the patio with a lake view is wonderful. Great service by Igor!!! We started with popcorn shrimp and a spicy sauce... excellent. We both chose a special with grilled snapper in a creamy sauce with very tasty... lovely evening!
The water bottle had particles floating on the bottom of the bottle, the steak was burned, the crab cakes were dry and the mac and cheese was mushy. Very overpriced entrees for the quality of food served
Mashed potatoes smelled old and spoiled. Service was very slow. Alcoholic drinks was very good.
Great evening for outdoor dining. Excellent service by Igor. We started with grilled shrimp with mango corn relish. Dinners were rib and chicken rollantini . Both portions were very generous.
Service was excellent, and the food and drinks were delicious. That evening, they had a band playing, which was great, however, the acoustics made it a bit difficult for more quiet conversations. I think this just had to do with the actual band that was playing. I would definitely go back!
Food had little favor. Service was slow. Seats were torn
Was advertised on Open Table as "hot" and was far from it. The audience was mostly 60 and over. A cover band came on and was so loud could not have a conversation. Food was ok but nothing as was advertised. Very disappointed.
Lago never fails to deliver on quality, value given reasonable prices and cooperative staff to insure a positive experience. Sitting outside on Farrington Lake makes all the trials and tribulations fade away. Even if you do not have time for a meal stop by and have a drink a hightop outside the bar. A terrific location and dining experience in North Brunswick!
Magical evening to eat outside and watch the ducks in the peaceful lake. Food is quite good. This evening we had a seafood risotto and the Chinese spare ribs with lo mein.
It was a beautiful night by the lake. The food was good, service was good and all was right with the world. Thanks Lago.
Food was unremarkable- not bad, not great.
We went to hear and dance to live band which was fantastic. Our waitress was sweet , personable, and attentive. The location makes u feel like you are a vacation dining outdoors by the lake. If u are not fussy about the food I would say this is a fun night out. But then it also depends on the music and band.
Food was ok. Drinks ok but pricey. Truffle fries were good. Ambience needs help, as does the interior furniture. I am not sure what the place is supposed to be, a bar, a lounge, a restaurant. Hopping scene if you’re 70 and up.
High school graduation celebration
Appetizers were good. Drinks were horrible and prices were higher than they should be. The band was great.
My friend and I had a wonderful experience at Lago! We picked Lago because of the stunning view, but fell in love with the food. The dishes are creative, yummy, and very filling. I highly recommend Lago!
Perfect evening to sit outside and enjoy the spectacular view. Great service by Igor! We started with the grilled shrimp appetizer that cane with mango salsa..yummy. We both chose a special of almond & coconut crust cod. The portion was quite large and included rice pilaf and brussel sprouts.
There was nothing exceptional about the menu—this is your basic nice restaurant in NJ with good selections of seafood, meat, and some standard vegetarian options. The pre-dinner rolls were meh. The food and service were fine. No complaints but no real creativity or risks. There was nothing memorable, just a standard nice meal. Safe bet for a family. Good view of the lake when the weather’s nice.
Nice place to meet up with friends or for a party. Good food, good service, good happy hour specials, beautiful lake view and outdoor seating. They have a band later in the evening on weekends.
Excellent!!!!! No complaints. Good service and food.
Outdoor dining was very nice. I suggest those big propane heaters for cooler nights. Waitstaff seemed confused but very nice. Loud inside with band but I like that, everyone was dancing. Outside much quieter nice table overlooking water. Food was ok had the Chinese ribs and lo mein. Flatbread was more like a personal size pizza. Expected a rectangular flatbread. Drinks were weak but that was fine with us as we were driving 😉. Will probably get wine next time... we will go back and try something else.
We finally found a restaurant that we can go to on a Friday night and be able to hear each other in conversation. Have not eaten there is 10 years, and the food was far better than I remember.
A little pricey, but we will try to share meals so we can come regularly (with drinks, $150 for two)
Service was a little lacking. More attention being paid to party going on in the next room. Had to wait 15 minutes for Host to even acknowledge we were there. Food was good. Really enjoyed the music. Danced a little too. I would return but not for the food. This seemed like a lively place for an evening.
Our server Valerie was very attentive. Food was very good and quicker than expected. There was a band playing as others have noted, but if that's not something you'd enjoy call ahead to see about timing or type of band, as the hostess and host were also very pleasant.
Had a great time! Igor was our waiter and he is a gem! Can get noisy when there is a live band but most of the time wonderful for good food, drinks and conversation. A local favorite.
The food was great. We ate for Valentine's day and there was a live band. Great ambience!
Food was delicious. Nice menu with good selection. Service excellent. Entertainment was good but a little loud for my taste. Overall we had a very nice time and enjoyed the experience. Want to come back when weather is warmer and dine outside overlooking Farrington lake. This was for Valentines Day and my wife enjoyed it very much.
This was our first time at the restaurant. The restaurant is nice however, the bar and the staging area for live music is also in the main dining area so this makes for a loud diner. Wait staff was great. Our waiters name was Igor. Appetizers were good. The meal however was not. Including myself, there were four of us. Two orders of short ribs, a steak and a stuffed flounder all came to the table cold. When I say cold, I mean cold to the touch. There was no warmth coming from the food, not even the plate was hot. When we spoke with the manager, all plates were removed and we were all provided with new diners. The food was so cold that even when the plate was removed, the table top was cold. Usually the area just under the plate is at least warm. The staff was very apologetic and offered soup or salad as we waited. Once the food came out, it was delicious. After our meal, we did not have desert but we did have coffee. Two regular and two espressos. None of which was piping hot. Some call me strange but I myself like my espresso hot. After all was said and done, the management made good on everything including the bill and because the the actions of the manager and waiter we will give Lago a second chance
Excellent grilled octopus. Great quick service. Lovely warm woodsy ambiance. Would return.
Nit very busy so we were able to chose a table with a lake view. Nothing compares to eating outdoors here in warm weather but New Jersey in the winter....arg! We started with a special of Chinese spring rolls. There were 6 generous pieces with 3 different sauces. Dinners were Chinese spare ribs over lo mein and a special of cavatelli with roasted butternut squash and leek. Food was very good and portions were large.
Great waiter ( Igor) he was on point with everything all night long.
We had a wonderful meal. We were a party of 7. Short rib, mushroom and host cheese flat bread, bourbon pork chop, etc... Everyone loved their meals... The service was great. There was a band, so it was a little loud, but it was a lot of fun.
We dined at Lago for my moms 82nd birthday on weds evening, which I thought it would be quiet. However although we were the only customers by table areas, the whole restaurant was quite noisy because there were some drunkards by bar.
Otherwise the food and service were excellent!
Outdoor dining on the lake when you know the warm nights are soon over....perfect and so close to home! We shared an apple and pecan salad, which was split in the kitchen... an important box for us to check! Dinners were crab cakes and a special of salmon with an almond pesto. Both dinners came with wild rice pilaf and vegetables. Serving sizeswere more then adequate. Tasty meals fir both of us.
Our first time here.... arrived for an early dinner on Saturday -- the restaurant was not (yet?) crowded, and we opted to dine outdoors: it was a beautiful evening, it overlooked a lake, and, most importantly, it was quiet. (By the time we left, the restaurant still remained empty, although the outdoor dining area had several patrons.) The menu was varied with creative cuisine options at different price points. The food was "good-to-very-good". Service was decent up until our dinner plates were cleared. Bread basket/butter was left on the table, even when offered coffee (and remained throughout). Coffee, espresso, and cappuccino (<-- undrinkable) after dinner was a huge disappointment. Cannot comment on dessert, as it was never offered. Still, I will give it another try since the food and ambience was above average. Will just skip the coffee after.
Great outdoor seating space, good ambience, the food was very well done and the cocktails were nice too
Clean and nice place. We had good time, delicious food and good service.
Very pleasant and calm water front restaurant.
I will decently recommended this place to my friends. Thanks
This could be a beautiful restaurant. The restaurant is on a beautiful lake. The indoors isime a VFW hall- large, cheap and rather ugly. The outdoors is pretty, but the dining table are uncomfortable and cheap. If you put carpeting in the indoor restaurant and osed off the bar area adding floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lake the would be a classy place. Such a waste of location.Food was good and service was good.
