La Gaffe Restaurant
Our restaurant menu is an out-and-out celebration of Italian cuisine. Perhaps begin with fresh avocado with smoked salmon and mozzarella, followed by ravioli rosa (pasta parcels filled with ricotta cheese and spinach in pesto sauce). Meat-lovers will adore the likes of fillet steak in a green peppercorn sauce, while fish fans might opt for grilled whole sea bass topped with olive oil and herbs.
Whatever you would like to order we look forward to providing you with the warmest of welcomes.

Outstanding local restaurant with great food and a real family-run ambiance
A superb meal. My wife had Gnocchi which she enjoyed. I had the roast duck again which was terrific.
Extraordinary dining experience. My roast duck was exquisite and flavorful! Never had better duck! The panna cotta was the very best!
Excellent and cosy restaurant in the heart of Hampstead
It’s always a joy to eat at La Gaffe! Great food, great atmosphere, great experience.
Amazing food, friendly service. We had a perfect meal and would love to return.
Delightful restaurant with a great ambiance and friendly staff. The food is great and good value for money
So nice to discover a good quality, affordable, and very friendly independent restaurant. I've been passing this for years, but this was my first visit. Lovely food. Nice staff. Not to busy nor loud. Good price for the quality of food and location. I'll definitely be back.
Always a pleasure to eat here. The food, service and ambience is always top top. A great menu to choose from, the food is always delicious served with great service as well.
If you fancy a drink before or after the cosy bar is close by so saves on having to go elsewhere.
Quiet and pretty room, good food, pleasant service and all for a very reasonable price... we’ll be back!
A small intimate restaurant with an interesting menu. The food was good and very well presented. We would certainly recommend this restaurant as it made for a delightful evening out with friends.
We had a very nice choice of fish and vegetarian. Exactly what we were looking for
Been here several times and the food and service are excellent. Really authentic Italian restaurant.
Lovely food and service. Authentic Italian you can count on.
It was an average experience- food was ok, not as authentically Italian or interesting as anticipated, too much english influence. Place feels a bit tired, uninspired. Staff very friendly and kind.
La Gaffe is an old favourite, unpretentious, welcoming and relaxed with very good food and wine and offering a reasonable choice of mainly italian inspired dishes: pasta, fish, meat, vegetarian . A place for conversation and enjoyment. Piped music is rare and is willingly turned off. . . Service is calm, friendly but not familiar.
My people were a little late arrival but the restaurant was cool and calm about it. Enjoy the meal and the food. Wine was very gooe too. I enjoyed the proseco.
Will definitely be going back.
Amazing food, a really taste of Italian cuisine. ‘Trota alle mandorle’ was just amazing. Lovely staff and reasonable prices. Highly recommend! Fantastico!
Excellent food and service. Will definitely return.
Thank you :)
Food and service fine . Very poor wines . I mentioned this to the manager on the way out . No reason why it can not provide decent wines in £25-30 range , this day and age . Even nearby Flask pub does better . Suitable if you are looking for a quiet venue & fair value on food provided .
Good food & service, quiet & cosy - close to the tube
A long standing Hampstead institution. The food is very good - traditional and all the better for it. No pretension just good cooking. Service is perfect. Prices are more than fair, especially for Hampstead. Highly recommended.
Thank you very much. Everythng you mention is what we aim for, so glad we hit the target for you :)
La Gaffe is a Hampstead institution, serving good Italian food - and wines. Service is impeccable and friendly
Was quiet/empty on a Friday night and the food was average. My steak was overcooked and bland, my wife's spaghetti was fine. Ambience/setting was dated - I wasn't expecting anything modern but even by 'family-run trattoria' standards this place desperately needs a facelift. Personally, I wouldn't return.
First time in London and wanted some authentic Italian. Nice place for the two of us. Very genuine and the chef/servers were all hospitable and pleasant. We will be back!
Excellent food, service and ambience! It looks, feels and tastes like you are in Italy, rather than in the middle of Hampstead. Lovely, all around. Thank you, Lorenzo!
Nice place. Good history of the restaurant. Wonderful location. Parking is a problem though.
Genuine friendly restaurant, rare to find staff who are not so rushed they can't enjoy bringing you the best of their restaurant. Original decor, well made food and great location.
Have visited a few times, excellent food and service each time. Always made welcome.
Tucked away in quite street, we think it is a local gem. Pasta were well made and service was good. Very good value for money too.
Fabulous meal. Were staying in Hampstead for the weekend and searched on internet for best Italian. I eat gluten free and was able to find three courses that I loved. Best mushroom risotto ever and all good value. We will return
La Gaffe was far more quaint than I expected, perhaps even a bit dated but that did not take anything away from friendly service and some very good food. This is a great and likely very reliable neighbourhood restaurant.
Beautiful venue, great food and great ambience. I will be coming back.
Authentic Italian restaurant with generous portions and friendly wait staff.
An excellent restaurant, great food and professional and friendly service
Salmon was wonderful. Staff polite and attentive. Really enjoyed our meal. Will return.
Good food. Good portions. Left feeling full. Good value. Attentive staff. Will certainly be returning.
We enjoyed the set menu for Mother's Day. A delightful meal with a good choice. Great quality food and served with a smile. The restaurant was bust but we were never left too long without being attended to.
Very cosy atmosphere and delicious food. Very obliging staff, nothing seems too much trouble. Would definitely recommend. My friends loved it too !
There is something wonderful about this old fashioned Italian restaurant. The dated decor with fake marble walls and beautifully cooked straight forward food. Liver in sage butter and dauphinois potatoes and the best minestrone I’ve had in ages. Service was pleasant and welcoming. Will certainly go back. This restaurant has been there for over 35 years and long may it continue.
