Lemon Pancakes with fresh berries
The hostess was adamant on seating us as far back as possible (right when the restaurant opened) which was in a very dark corner away from the windows despite the entire restaurant being empty. She was quite rude and only finally agreed to relocate us to a slightly sunnier/lighter table after a lot of hesitation…
Fruit plate wasn’t great, but the pastries smelled amazing and looked really delicious!
Excellent all around. Incredible yummy dinner and the waiters did everything they could to accommodate our specific food needs.
Love Lafayette. They never disappoint. Expensive but worth it!
The price fix menu fro brunch at $65 per person is not good value I think it’s over priced and not even impressive
One of my fav spot in the city! And one of my fav
My husband and I had a rather ho-hum meal on New Year’s Day. I had the Eggs Benedict with Salmon and My husband had the Nicoise Salad. We thought both were mediocre and there was not enough flavoring in the Nicoise, particularly salt and there was just mushy salmon in the Eggs Benedict. More than a little disappointed. This is our favorite brunch spot. Hoping it was an off day.
The rotisserie chicken dinner entree wasn’t what I was planning on having on Christmas Day but when the person next to me and my date at the bar got her entree, the smell alone directed me straight to it. The most amazing flavors, Lafayette really made such a simple homie dish into something so special and elevated. I loved it! For desert we had to order two separate dishes as we couldn’t choose. The margaritas were so balanced and delicious. I can’t hardly wait to come back when it’s a bit warmer to enjoy in the front patio.
I will say my this wasn’t my first time at the restaurant and as a request to the chef… I had a dish about two years ago now that was a lunch or brunch special I really cannot recall which. “Oxtail ravioli” maybe? It was a one time thing that I have never been able to experience again and I got lucky enough savor it here.
PLEASE add it to the menu at least for 1 day a week.
I promise I will be here weekly for it. I cannot recall a better pasta dish than that in my entire life.
Waited almost 30 minutes for dinner to arrive.Risotto was overcooked and did not resemble rice.Only 4 scallops , steak was chewy and fries were cold. We had to order a second portion of bread because our dinner took so long to arrive. We should not have been charged.
The Manager, Nicholas, was great! Excelent service! Super recomended
Great atmosphere, tasty food. Exactly what we were hoping for to have a special brunch.
Service was average, food quality inconsistent and lacking variety
It was lovely. Expensive of course.
A lovely restaurant with great food and an airy feeling that is a nice change from typically confined NY restaurants
Great food and service.
Had a great and wonderful brunch here. Our server Livia was super friendly and attentive, took great care of us. All the servers we interacted with were also kind.
The ambiance and the interior setup was also very calming. Highly recommend this place.
Great get together with friends from out of town. Enjoyed the food the atmosphere and the service with Lilia. Will be back.
This has always been one of my favorite restaurants for years for the atmosphere and service. The food is good but there are other Andrew Carmellini restaurants I like more for the food yet this is the one I visit the most for the reasons stated above. What surprised me the most is that I had reservations inside and not once was I asked to see my vaccine card. People were coming in and out with no mask sitting or standing at the bar in close quarters and no one seemed concerned about asking for proof of vaccination. Same for the other person in my party or anyone we noticed enter. I expected more from this place.
Excellent service, great outdoor seating, and great dinner music. Food was exceptional.
Lafayette works really well for pre-Public Theater dining. The food is well presented and tasty and the staff are efficient and mindful of the time.
We loved everything about our evening from soup to nuts. Thank you
Lafayette is one of our go to places before attending performances at the Public Theater. Everyone enjoyed their recent dinner, our first visit since the pandemic. The service was attentive and we look forward to the next time.
Chic & trendy, great service!
The escarole salad was way overdressed, the poached egg was anemic.
I was a bit worried before trying this place after reading the mixed reviews, but my friend and I had a wonderful experience there! The options at brunch do run out towards the afternoon (we went around 1:45) but what we ordered were very delicious. My friend had salmon Benedict, I had Niçoise salad and fries on the side. The fries were superb. Ambience is amazing and the waiter who served us was very kind and thoughtful. Would definitely visit again!
Once in awhile you find a restaurant that just fits you in every way. Lafayette was our wonderful discovery this past Sunday…wonderful service, delicious food, chic decor…just a little bit of Parisian charm that made this a totally enjoyable experience.
Fabulous brunch. We choose it at the last minute and it was a hit. Eggs Benedict and beef tartare perfectly prepared.
great! good food nice staff
Birthday dinner in pleasant (though urban-noisy) outdoor area. Food was OK, but not as good as on 2 previous occasions. Service was a little patchy, but always polite. Nice night out, but a little disappointed in the food.
Lovely place in every respect.
The salmon could have been cooked a tiny bit more — and maybe a little bit more flavour. But otherwise very good.
Great restaurant with terrific service.
A bit overpriced in my opinion for the quality of food
It was great to see the restaurant bustling again on a Saturday night, and while the current staff is working extremely hard to maintain Lafayette's previous standards, diners will need to lower their expectations.
The general vibe of the hostess and servers was very professional and friendly, though we had challenges with wine service. They are working with an understandably smaller list, but surprisingly there was no sommelier there on a busy weekend evening. We sent back two bottles because each was a different vintage than that on the list, and it took 20+ minutes to talk to a manager that eventually guided us to a good bottle.
Fortunately dinner was very well prepared -- tender scallops, rich salmon, and a silky chocolate mousse.
So while it's a little Wild West in the NYC restaurant scene these days, we appreciated the Lafayette teams' efforts and hope to see them return to their usual high standards soon.
Everything was absolutely amazing . My friend damila worked here before and recommended this place. I enjoyed every single thing. Will definitely be coming back .
Escargots and beef tartare are a must! Very good outdoor setup too.
This restaurant is great! Great service and food! Great ambiance! Would definitely come back!
The steak was chewy and over-seasoned. Had to pay for bread (the quantity was small); when asked for additional bread, restaurant wanted additional money.
This was our third time dining at Lafayette and it certainly has gone down hill. I ordered a bottle of wine the minute I sat down and it took them 20 mins to bring it out. My fiancée ordered a cocktail. That took 25 mins. All the while the server continued to ask us if we knew what we wanted to eat yet. I kindly
Explained once she successfully fulfills one order we can move to the next. I ordered eggs Benedict when the wine finally arrived…. The eggs were cold and vinegary. Atop of that they were served in a bowl and the toast was so hard it was barely edible. All around very poor dining experience. We couldn’t wait to leave.
We had a great time and enjoyed delicious food. The ambiance is awesome and we loved that the restaurant requires proof of vaccine even for outdoor diners. We had an amazing waitress and all staff were kind and professional. Definitely will go back.
