Lemon Pancakes with fresh berries
carrot, beet, navel orange
Lovely place in every respect.
The salmon could have been cooked a tiny bit more — and maybe a little bit more flavour. But otherwise very good.
Great restaurant with terrific service.
A bit overpriced in my opinion for the quality of food
It was great to see the restaurant bustling again on a Saturday night, and while the current staff is working extremely hard to maintain Lafayette's previous standards, diners will need to lower their expectations.
The general vibe of the hostess and servers was very professional and friendly, though we had challenges with wine service. They are working with an understandably smaller list, but surprisingly there was no sommelier there on a busy weekend evening. We sent back two bottles because each was a different vintage than that on the list, and it took 20+ minutes to talk to a manager that eventually guided us to a good bottle.
Fortunately dinner was very well prepared -- tender scallops, rich salmon, and a silky chocolate mousse.
So while it's a little Wild West in the NYC restaurant scene these days, we appreciated the Lafayette teams' efforts and hope to see them return to their usual high standards soon.
Everything was absolutely amazing . My friend damila worked here before and recommended this place. I enjoyed every single thing. Will definitely be coming back .
Escargots and beef tartare are a must! Very good outdoor setup too.
This restaurant is great! Great service and food! Great ambiance! Would definitely come back!
The steak was chewy and over-seasoned. Had to pay for bread (the quantity was small); when asked for additional bread, restaurant wanted additional money.
This was our third time dining at Lafayette and it certainly has gone down hill. I ordered a bottle of wine the minute I sat down and it took them 20 mins to bring it out. My fiancée ordered a cocktail. That took 25 mins. All the while the server continued to ask us if we knew what we wanted to eat yet. I kindly
Explained once she successfully fulfills one order we can move to the next. I ordered eggs Benedict when the wine finally arrived…. The eggs were cold and vinegary. Atop of that they were served in a bowl and the toast was so hard it was barely edible. All around very poor dining experience. We couldn’t wait to leave.
We had a great time and enjoyed delicious food. The ambiance is awesome and we loved that the restaurant requires proof of vaccine even for outdoor diners. We had an amazing waitress and all staff were kind and professional. Definitely will go back.
I wanted the tuna cooked rather than rare on the salad which they would not do.
Beet salad good.
Shrimp undercooked and sauces not interesting.
Outdoor dining wonderful
Service very pleasant
Nasty host. Food arrived before drinks. And the omelette looked like it was made with one egg. Overall terrible experience. Ambience of the Upper East side out of place in the East Village/Noho. The former Chinatown Brasserie was so much better- fun and hip. This place is unhip and defines white privilege.
terrible service from hostess to servers and one of them dumped a coffee on my chest and didn’t take anything off the bill or help clean
Great food and Cristian was a fantastic server!
Would highly recommend. Wonderful food and service.
Great spot for brunch with friends
They were slammed. It was Friday night and the crowds were back. They are understaffed, as is every restaurant. Please be patient and enjoy your evening out and about. The servers and kitchen staff are working hard! Don’t take this as making excuses for our service! Our server and all of his support staff were great! Thank you for the special sparkler cake for our 41st anniversary!
The staff was friendly, the outdoor space pleasant and the food was great.
I had been here before the pandemic and the culinary experience was second to none. This time I went and the food was average at best but still the same extravagant prices!
DELICIOUS FOOD! The prime rib burger was fantastic , pomme frites were crispy and delicious. :)
Lovely building, surroundings, service and food
Great service and great food and drinks!
Great food, great service, beautiful room and an excellent and reasonably priced wine list. Highly recommended!
Great ambiance, food and service, good wine listWe ate outside but the indoor decor is wonderful as well. Best escargot in the city! Our waiter Luis made our time even more pleasant. We will be back.
Having been a patron at least once a week from opening to the pandemic closing this was my return dinner with friends. Service was terrible, the waitress was terrible, failing to take drink orders , delays in taking food orders, failing to get all appetizers served at same time with one forgotten and finally failing to put in my main course order. The service could not have been worse. The manager attempted to deal with this offering some desserts which were appreciated. Unfortunately evidently my go to restaurant has not recovered from the pandemic and I will find a new local standby . What a disappointment!
Liked it! Food was great and service ver nice.
Went on a Saturday for brunch, and indoors was VERY loud to the point I had to yell to talk to the person across the table from me. Otherwise, everything was great!
Hissing hostess ruined the mood. Not coming back again.
Had breakfast. The lemon pancakes were very delicious! Services was great.
Gracious service and excellent food. Their scrambled eggs are super luscious and the best in the city
Always love restaurant, but this pandemic reducing the menu items is not acceptable anymore.
My wife could not enjoy her chicken salad and I could not enjoy the prime rib roast sandwich.
I go to a restaurant for the food.
I cannot eat the atmosphere.
I hope things really get back to normal.
If this is the new normal please accept my condolences.
Overall a mediocre experience. Service was slow at the beginning so took 25 min to get first round of drinks and then service was overly prompt at the end when they wanted us to pay the bill. Food was just OK. Appetizers were better than our entrees.
Way over priced for the quality, used to be better
Our server was amazing. Failed to ask his name but he’s blonde/light hair and so incredibly nice.
Great place! The outdoor patio is beautiful. Lemon pancakes were super fluffy and delicious, and the burger was also fantastic. Definitely would come again.
