I had lunch on the 9th floor where restaurant is operating nowadays, could bor ask for a better view; service was great and almost felt like personalized; and the food was very fresh and good. The Lafayette/Hay Adams has always been among my favorite restaurants/spots in the DC area, I recommend it, thank you.
The food was incredible (as was the presentation), great place for romantic evening or business lunch/dinner. Great view of the White House and monuments. Superb service.
The service on a scale 1 to 5 was a 10! The place is beyond beautiful and it feels very powerful to be “looking down” at the white house. Magical view! ❤️
The food is excellent. Great ambiance. Great experience. We had dinner and lunch. We’ll be back next time we’re in DC!
First time eating at Lafayette since they reopened. Such a great dining space on the rooftop. Not crowded so we felt very safe. As always, top tier service, spectacular food and satisfying drinks. You continue to impress.
Extraordinary service by a professional wait staff and hostess.
I expected to be on the ninth floor, however, I was placed in lobby dining area on my anniversary. Very limited menu due to the pandemic. I left before ordering, however, my waiter was very friendly and the drinks we ordered were pretty good.
My wife and i were there for dinner and had a great time. The view of the white house and monument is great and the waiter was excellent. The entree portion was small but very good. The desert was very good, recommend the chocolate souffle
We went for breakfast right after our self-officiated wedding in front of the US Supreme Court. The food was very good and the presentation first class. The wait staff was definitely the most professional and genuinely nice. They also respected social distancing guidelines which made us feel good. The birds-eye view of DC was a unique experience. I would highly recommend The Lafayette as an upscale place to dine.
Very elegant and classy Birthday Dinner
Excellent in every category! A very special dinner.
the street area outside is an unsafe urban danger zone
Giovanny led us straight to the "V.I.P." table, the 2-top directly across from the White House! He was thouroughly charming as was our server Jose! The place setting was exquisite! Our entrees were outstanding and Jose kept the delicious and hot coffee coming and the heated maple syrup was an extra luxury. The entire experience was a most sublime and memorable one!
The restaurant is closed!!!! Please update your website!
Celebrated our anniversary here overlooking the White House. Server Antonny was outstanding.
Our favorite DC place for breakfast. The service staff is over the top great, all of them! They go above and beyond to make my guests and me feel welcome. The food was great, as always!
The food was amazing. I love fine dining and when I say these were the best scallops I ever had. Also the corn soup w/ lump crab meat was delicious. The filet meal w/ veggies, potato and wine sauce paired so well it almost taste like beef stew. This chef knows what to pair with what for flavor. Never would think corn soup w/crab or scallops in a squash sauce would pair well. I want to go again this week. But I live in Virginia Beach. This will be my go to in DC
Always the best place to eat in town.
Incredible staff!!! Best in town. Best breakfast ever. Supper Accommodating and took care of every special request we had with a wonderful attitude.
The quality of the food was great, but would like to see a more adventurous menu.
The Lafayette restaurant delivers on exceptional food and service every time. Lovely setting with direct views of the White House and Lafayette Park make this the perfect Washington power lunch destination. The long time staff are highly trained to provide some of the best service in Washington, DC today. Always a memorable experience we will go back soon!
Great location for anniversary dinner; food and service is top notch
It was another wonderful experience with fabulous food and outstanding service.
Nice place, nice view of the WH and nice staff and managers, could not be better. Used to live close by and so I got into the habit of going. Take biscuits anytime. Tx.
Not sure what happened to Lafayette on 02/14/2020, as my wife and I have enjoyed several excellent meals and service here in the past. After taking everyone's order, the waiter had to come back after a few minutes and retake everything. This wouldn't be a big deal since we want to get everything correct--but when the servers arrived they didn't know who ordered what, and causing additional confusion by offering items not even listed on the fixed course menu. This was further complicated and concerning when dessert arrived. We had a member of our party with a severe nut allergy--and after confirming the dessert ordered contained no nuts, the server gave the wrong dessert to this individual. Disappointing and very dangerous. I'm afraid Lafayette is now just a hotel restaurant with a nice view. Sadly, a big fail and will not return.
Valentines Dinner. Perfect in every way. Simply wonderful.
Just lovely, perfect service... very rare.
I wish I could give 10 stars instead of 5. Absolutely incredible experience at this restaurant. Everything was absolutely perfect. From the ambiance to the staff. The piano man is legendary. The staff there is second to none. My fiance and I loved this place as much as Donald Trump loves Ivanka. We were taken care of well, served such delicious food. The staff was all in on my proposal and it had me feeling so warm and genuinely cared for. I would highly recommend and will return for every trip i make to DC.
We ordered the Filet Mignon, Mixed Green Salad, True Love Chocolate dessert with bourbon and wine to accompany this dinner.
A special thank you for the genuine kindness and attention to detail given to us on a very special night.
This is a must do restaurant, in the most powerful city in the world
Beautiful atmosphere, very gentle and courteous service, and excellent food
Tuvimos una atención excelente y dedicada
One of the best Sunday brunches in DC. Brunch starts at $95 per person (children under 12 are $35) with champagne, mimosa's, and bloody Mary's included. It's not cheap, but the food is outstanding with one of the best buffets and selection of entree's we've had in DC. The room is beautiful and the staff is very helpful and attentive.
Overpriced. Entrees were ok. Creme brulee was amazing. Asked for a WH view, didn’t get it, despite the place being half empty. We were dressed up; the woman at the next table was in sweat pants.
Service and food were excellent. We only had appetizers. Oysters and lobster salad were over the top. Our server, Anthony, recommended both appetizers and we were very pleased. Ambiance is quiet yet the room has a bit of a buzz. Piano was a nice touch! We will return for a full dinner soon.
The ambiance is incredible but the portion sizes were insanely small. I took my lady out for her birthday and it was impressive, but again I had to stop and eat on the way home and I am by no means a large person. I just think $40 for around 4 ounces of fish is insane. We also waited over 30 minutes for the dessert souffle and the place wasn't even busy. For what we paid for the experience the value was very low. I could have gone to the Hamilton and gotten a great meal for a lot less. Lafayette needs to step it up. Also, $9 for sparkling water. Really?
Needed a special dinner prior to a black-tie event. Lafayette was perfect! It is an elegant formal setting, very quiet, seemingly discreet, yet with views of monuments. The food was very good, not among DC’s elite, and on the lighter side, but a very nice meal. I will repeat.
We had breakfast there, and it was exquisite. From the service to the food to the lovely china, it was perfect. I had the lox and bagel, which was beautifully laid out, and my friends had the oatmeal soufflé and a savory egg frittata. The scones and baked goods are made in house. Can’t say enough good things.
My go-to spot for breakfast in DC. Staff are fabulous and the room and ambiance and views are second to none.
We specifically requested a table away from the kitchen and wait station to celebrate a special birthday. The staff did not reserve a table for us. They tried to seat us in the farthest table in the back, right next to the kitchen and wait station. Unacceptable. So we had to wait. We ended up in the cold adjacent room by ourselves. Odd.
The waiter treated us to a complimentary champagne that was a nice gesture however the rest of dinner experience was less than average.
We ordered the sole, $68 and it was served cold along with cold side dishes. Our sides were brought to the table and sat there while the waiter deboned the fish. The staff should know how to prepare and serve the dinners.
The night was to be a fabulous dining experience and ended up be far far less.
