The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was cozy.
It was my friend's birthday, lunch was very nice. The service was excellent. We sat and caught up for 2-1/2 hours, we were not bothered, we had salads which were very fresh and plentiful. It was a great place to celebrate a special lunch!!!
A bit pricey, but food is delicious, the restaurant is beautifully decorated, quiet, and the crackling fireplace made for a cozy atmosphere on a snowy evening. Service is courteous, professional, and friendly. Terrific cocktails, wonderful food and service, and a lovely atmosphere made for a very nice evening.
had a nice casual dinner, food was excellent, very quiet, service was great
Being a bit on the mature side, my wife and I arrived at 5:30 pm. We were warmly greeted by two staff members and immediately seated in a finely decorated room.
The staff was very attentive - bringing crackers and cheese to start the evening's meal. We were offered a beverage - with me choosing an apricot sour and my wife - a riesling. We both enjoyed our choices.
The bread was warm and tasty as was the cup of clam chowder. Plenty of clams and a thick liquid.
We both ordered the prime rib (medium) - which arrived a bit on the rare side. I never send anything back to the kitchen, so we made due.
To keep this short and sweet, everything was great up until the entree arrived. Romantic setting and all - but don't expect the meat to be the meal you might be dreaming for.
Lafayette House is a historic gem. Very reliable menu, fit for every age group! Lovely ambiance. Good service! Wonderful decorations! Right off of Route 1!
Set amidst the strip malls of Foxboro on Rt. 1, this charming historic building houses a restaurant with a rather boring and basic menu. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for the food, though it was certainly edible, but the service was good and the setting very charming.
The Christmas decor was lovely! We have dined at The Lafayette House many times and always look forward to our next visit!
Nice relaxing quaint atmosphere. Food was very good and waitress was pleasant and eager to serve. I would return anytime.
Understated ambiance, warm, friendly and cozy. Do not overlook this place. Food is good too!
pregame Patriots buffet - just the perfect was to do the game!
We visited prior to the Patriot's playoff game vs Tennessee and it was a smart choice. The Lafayette House has loads of character and is a neat spot to visit and they did a great job of hosting hungry fans prior to the game. You could order off the menu or opt for a huge buffet spread they assembled. The food was very good as was the service. I would most certainly make the same decision again!
Spent a few hours dining before the Patriots game. There was a special buffet for the occasion with meatballs, ziti, salad, 2 types of chicken wings, salmon, a carving station with turkey and roast beef. It was a good value.
We sat in the lounge and watched the early NFL playoff game. Enjoyed drinks and dinner, football and friends.
Service was very prompt and our waitress was very friendly. Ample menu selections - my prime rib was so tasty and huge.
have eaten here many times and the food is always very good and the service is wonderful. will definitely go back.
We love Lafayette house. Good was excellent and service we great.
Great food and the waitress was very good as well. We went for New Years Eve and even though it was crowded the noise level was ok. My husband had prime rib, it was cooked perfectly. I has the scrod and it was a great size and was very good.
Just what we wanted..a quiet dinner but a lively bar scene and post-dinner music. Food and service were great!
Our gathering was a belated celebration of Christmas. Lafayette does a wonderful job of decorating for the Christmas season, so it is the perfect atmosphere. The food is always good; and last Saturday was no exception. Each of us had a different meal, equally enjoyed. Wait staff was very pleasant and helpful.
Food was excellent, atmosphere wonderful and unique to New England. The service was a bit slow and our server was somewhat inattentive, so plan on extra time as this is not a quick in and out type of place.
The main course was great but the potato and veg. were ice cold.
Christmas Buffet was yummy!
This was a beautiful well done Christmas buffet the food was outstanding. The service was outstanding as well.
It was also nice there was a limit to the amount of people being served at any one time,
Prevented long lines and overcrowding.
My daughter and I were to celebrate Christmas there as it was just the two of us before we went to the airport for flights in different directions . Our table was not ready so we were asked to sit in the bar. When trying to get a drink, my daughter was told the bartender could not serve if we had a table. I then went up and told him we had a table in the bar. He refused to serve me saying he was too busy with the waiters. At my table I saw a man go up and order two glasses of wine - I called the hostess over and asked why he refused to serve us but is serving the male customer? At that point the bartender came over and yelled I was going to serve you - I did not refuse to serve you! I said he did refuse us and then served the man. He was very angry and asked my daughter what she wanted ( did not ask me) My daughter asked for Malbec and he said he did not have Malbec- my daughter pointed out the bottle of Malbec on the bar. He didn’t say anything but brought the glass of wine over and took our money and yelled loudly saying “Next year I’ll just tell all the bartenders that they cannot spend Christmas with their family.” At that point I went to the bar and asked for our money back saying we were leaving. He said fine and handed me back my money. I told the hostess to cancel the reservation. We left and went to Legal Seafood. We later googled the restaurant to send a complaint and found out HE was the owner!! I have never been so badly treated in a restaurant- I was dumbfounded- he is an abusive angry man who has no business dealing with the public. In addition we also observed him pouring leftover wine back into the bottle and scooping ice with the glasses ( which anyone in the restaurant business knows shouldn’t be done) and it may even be illegal! I will never step foot in that restaurant again and I will let everyone I know of this horrible person and experience! You should also remove them from Open Table
We had a fantastic brunch on Christmas Day. Shrimp, salad , beef, turkey, fish and assorted vegetables. There was a dessert selection of creme brûlée, pudding and a chocolate tower!
Excellent food, service and value.
Looking forward to the next meal at Lafayette House.
Great buffet... I just think for $20 for kids was pricey for what they offered and also you had to pay for their drinks. 10/9 yrs old.
Great experience before games...Service is awesome and look forward to my next visit.
It was my first time and won’t rush back. I don’t think the server wanted to be there and we felt it.
Had three different excellent meals in quiet and comfortable setting. Expensive, but not over priced compared to other places offering similar fare.
Eleven of us gather most December’s for a Christmas and Birthday celebration. They accommodated this year’s gathering well putting us at the back of the large and beautifully decorated dining room - a perfect place since we had two pre-schoolers with us.
Great food with great friends. The salmon with crab was delicious. The prime rib was enough for two meals as was the braised beef chop.
Our waitress was great. The food was pretty good. I loved all the Christmas decorations everywhere.
The Lafayette House was beautifully decorated for Christmas and very tasteful. The mood was pleasant and cozy. Everyone loved their food. Everything was delicious and fresh. We would not hesitate to go there again.
Kayla was our server. She was wonderful. This was the first time we have dined out for Thanksgiving Dinner. She made the experience very personable. Her sweet personality came through and, even though the restaurant was busy, she made us feel as if we were the only diners there.
Thanksgiving the prices were inflated, noise level was very high, and waitress was pleasant, but overworked. The host was very stressed, due to the busy day. Reservations were running 15 minutes late, and request for a quiet side table ( for 3) was not honored. Salad was stale.
I had requested through Open Table that there were Vegetarian options for myself. There was only one, roasted vegetables. That was alright, but to than charge us for two classic Thanksgiving dinners ($32 each) and be told by our waitress "that was what I was told to charge you" is unacceptable. Obviously, we were not going to pay that amount at which point the waitress abruptly scooped up the check to make the change. We realize she and the restaurant was quite busy that day, but I was disappointed that a restaurant of their caliber would try to "stick it" to consumers that way. Needless to say, we will not be dining there again.
Lafayette house has been a staple for us for years. This time was for thanksgiving. The crew did a good job for a busy day.
The Lafayette House was built in 1785...nine years after the American Revolution...for that reason alone...go there. Very good food, terrific ambiance, excellent service. We went for Thanksgiving dinner, but wound up ordering shrimp and steak. Both very good. It was a full house, but didn't feel crowded...it felt nice, warm and friendly. I made reservations and was readily seated. We even met the proprietor - great guy Ron - can't recall his last name. Highly recommend this gem.
Lafayette House is our first choice for out Thanksgiving get together. The atmosphere is lovely and the food is always delicious. Service is exceptional.
