Very quiet Tuesday night but enjoyed our table near the fireplace. Lafayette stuffed mushroom caps good for sharing even though there were 5. Rack of lamb cooked to perfection and looked so pretty on the plate that it warranted a picture. Broiled scallops very plentiful and delicious. No room for dessert tonight.
We both ordered the twin filets with lobster. So good filets were tender and lobster was sweet.
Friday night buffet is best deal around. Excellent prime rib. Seriously good food. Not fancy but delicious.
I enjoyed the meal. Large portions were very good. Service was prompt, drinks were well made as well. Only downside is the restaurant is old (part of the charm I guess), and a little facelift would help.
Fantastic Prime Rib
The food was very good. We went on New Years Eve and had made a reservation for 8pm. We were sat at a table in a large back room which had, aside from some Christmas decorations, no ambiance at all. It was as though they placed a few table around the first half of a huge square room, leaving the rest of the room empty. The rest of the place is very quaint and cozy so we were very disappointed with our location. However, since it seemed very busy, we said nothing and just enjoyed our evening out. I can recommend the Lafayette House but just make sure you are in one of the front rooms, not in the large open hall type of space.
First visit. Great experience for a New Years Eve Dinner. A couple seated immediately before us and seated next to us, were served quickly and received their meal very quickly, we did not. However, we enjoyed the pacing between our dishes. Actually the pacing allowed us to savor each dish. The portions were generous and we took home a half of our dinners, for our New Years Day dinner. We had dinners from the regular menu. The veal and the lamb were fantastic! Our waitress, although encumbered by a severely sprained ankle, was very pleasant and attentive to our satisfaction. We plan to return.
The sea food and prime rib is outstanding. We have been going there for years. It is one of my top restaurants.
An historic building that was decorated throughout for Christmas that added to our experience. Buffet was a great value although we opted to order off the menu. Very good service.
Good food, well served. Nicely decorated for the season
Had the buffet on Christmas Day. I had the prime rib, salmon, smashed potatoes, squash, mixed vegetables and salad with anchovies. All were cooked to perfection. Plenty of food. The chocolate table was greeted by a young boy with huge eyes and a drawn out 0-0-0-0h!! The chocolate mousse cake was delicious. Service was excellent. Highly recommend.
The website said that it was $30 and underEach and when we got the bill for the buffet it was $50 each. Also a glass of house white wine nothing special just a glass of house white wine was $9.00. I will never go to this restaurant again. When I spoke to the owners about it they said oh yeah we had this problem back in Thanksgiving we’re 20 people paid for a reservation. It’s been over a month and they’ve never resolved the issue!
We had Christmas dinner here- 1st time in this restaurant. Lovely experience all-around.
Our reservation was a half hour late, I’m sure with Christmas there were people that called in or couldn’t make it. $50 for an average buffet? Could have traveled to the city for the same price with a better selection and quality. Wouldn’t go back
I normally would recommend Lafayette House except not for the Xmas Buffet. While last year's event went seamlessly they really dropped the ball this year. Even with reservations, my guest and I were tossed into the bar, where we waited and waited while others who came in after us were seated. It was infuriating, but there was no place else to go and we were starving. On top of being forced to sit in the cold, unfriendly bar, no drinks were served for what reason I don't know. And the bartender, who turned out to be the establishment's owner, was rude and using bad language. When we were finally seated, no server appeared to greet us, let alone, help us. The food should have made up for the lousy treatment, but my guest and I were just too upset to enjoy it. Not next year!
Food was good but parking hospitality not so much. When the reservation was made, we called and explained that one part of the party was not attending the scheduled Patriots game but was still coming to lunch. We were told to have that person come to the parking lot and talk to 'Ron'. One the day of the game, that person was told - rather rudely - by the woman running the parking lot operation that there was no way they could park there and the restaurant was closed. We were lucky to find out a way around getting all of us there but Lafayette House really needs to work on the communication about what is allowed parking wise.
The buffet is very good. Wait staff efficient and friendly
Had lunch here yesterday. Beautifully decorated for Christmas, too. Such a warm and inviting restaurant. The food was excellent and the service impeccable!! Love the bar area too - great warm fireplace !
We had the buffet which was very good with a nice variety. The servers wee attentive and courteous. Everything was beautifully decorated for the Holidays.
I went to the Lafayette House with 4 friends for an early dinner. We ordered from the “early bird” menu and we all enjoyed our salads and entrees. The steak tips and chicken Francais were delicious. The creme brulee and chocolate cake were a delicious end to our meal. Our server was friendly and most attentive. We will certainly go back again.
Great food and service!!!! Beautiful old restaurant especially pretty at this time of year
Had a great Thanksgiving dinner. Waitress was so nice and attentive. We would definitely eat here again and do Thanksgiving here again
Had reservation for 4 PM got seeded at 6PM. Took an hour to get the food. Reach out of food and it was cold. Had to tip 40% for bad service and cold food.
It was a limited meal for Thanksgiving and they seemed very unorganized but the waitress was very attentive and the filet we had was cooked perfect. The sides were just ok. We would try again if we were looking for a good steak. The building itself is in need of repair the door handle was lose and wiggling. And the decor and furniture seemed old and worn.
My service was excellent. Three of us had the turkey dinner. The turkey was only moderately warm and definitely not hot. The quantity was good on two of the meals but one serving was very small. The portions of the the salmon was fine. As was the portions of shrimp. The salads were good. The rest of the dinner experience was good.
My experience is mostly pre-game. Despite knowing they’ll be busy, they never seem to have enough staff to efficiently serve customers. Food is decent enough, good value, just wonder if they realize how much business they lose by not being able to get more drinks or turn tables. I would imagine dining experience would be better on non-game days.
We were traveling to the Patriots game and chose Lafayette House for dinner. The food was good but could have been hotter. The ambiance was very nice.
Our table for 8 was ready when we arrived. Waitress was fantastic. She did not write one thing down on paper.
We had 4 separate checks as well.
The meals arrived and handed out with out an error. Checks were perfect as well. Food was excellent.
Definitely will return
Food was OK. Scallops were cooked well and tasted good but a little sandy.
Short ribs were fatty. Service was quick, patient (we sat and chatted for several hours-but continued to order drinks)
My fiancée and I had the twin filets with lobster.
Everything was delicious. Highly recommend this dish!
We went for the buffet. The food was excellent and the choices were very good.
If I have one suggestion, not a complaint, is that they need one more person as a server inside the buffet area. They ran out of plates, and at times other items, and the chef had to run and get them. I don’t think that is a good use of him. He has a carving station and a pasta station to attend to.
This buffet dinner far exceeded our expectations. Great value!
Service was mediocre at best. Food came and some of the sides were cold! Not the Lafayette house I remember! Not a good value.
The restaurant has a lot of nice great ambience and character and has been around for many many years. Service was great and the entrees included salad which was very nice. Portions were plentiful so we didn't have room for dessert. Nice fireplace in the room we were seated in. We would return again.
Short rib special was dry and stringy and way too much food. Rack of lamb was boring at best. Couldn’t get res on open table until 8:30 which was ridiculous since the restaurant was empty and closing down for the night. Very disappointing experience
We arrived for our reservation, were seated and then totally ignored for 25 minutes while the host and waitress stood about 6 feet away discussing candy cigarettes and her GI troubles. Walked out without ordering- not that we even had an option to do so. 0/10, would never recommend and won’t be back
Food was ok. Service not so much. Cute decor. Easy to find.
The food was delicious, and they just started up their Friday Night Dinner Buffet. This had a wide selection, including Prime Rib, Salmon, Chicken, pasta, vegetables, salad, and dessert. Everything I tried on the buffet was fresh and delicious. And, the price was reasonable. The atmosphere was a bit too loud. We were seated too close to the Pub, and the loud talking and live music conflicted with the Dining Room atmosphere and it's background music. I would go back, but would make sure we were seated farther away from the Pub.
We love it there. It is a beautiful place with great food and drinks. We can not wait to go back.
