Lady Mendl's is an unconventionally chic tea salon housed within a Georgian brownstone in the Gramercy Park neighborhood of Manhattan. An opulent five-course tea is served in an eclectic and whimsical parlor by a doting staff. Patrons sip tea from hand culled vintage Wedgwood teacups as they nibble dainty finger sandwiches and house baked scones.

Lady Mendel is my all time favorite tea place in NYC. The ambiance, the quality, the pricing, and the service is always 10/10. It has now become a holiday tradition every year and I can't get enough. I also purchased some tea bags and they came in an adorable tin. All service people are wonderful, but we had Kate yesterday who is new to the tea salon and she was exquisite! Will continue to come back! A MUST go place if you enjoy tea!

Marvelous experience. I’ve been to many afternoon tea services in the city and this was my favorite. The setting is just beautiful, the food, tea and cocktails were delicious. But it’s the staff that makes this restaurant shine. Lovely experience

Really quaint spot for high tea - you do get a lot of courses/food/tea for the price you pay. Alcohol is not included in the price. My group and I enjoyed it here and definitely would come back!

Lovely tea in a beautiful setting. Each course is small, but there were five and you'll leave quite full. Recommend getting a cocktail, quite good.

The waiter was terrible. Spoke with an accent and fast. Couldn’t understand a word he said. The “tea waiter” was worst. He just kept pouring tea, splashing it all over, hanging his armpit over my plate in front of my face. Each time, asking which tea? After telling him the tea, he kept pouring Earl Grey, despite asking him for the chocolate Wonder tea. Then, they forgot to serve the soup course. The new girl kept trying to rescue the two awful waiters with quiet apologies, but none the less, this was not the experience that I expected. Will not return.

A beautiful spot with nice help, but it seemed understaffed during our visit. My teacup was often empty and we were going on 2 hours with half of the food served to us. We had to leave and not finish. It was disappointing for the time and expense. I hope it was just an off day for them.

Absolutely fantastic! I have had high teas all over the world and this was very good, second only to Claridges in London. The sandwiches were a twist on the classics, very tasty and very fresh. And of course the ambience is very unique, a beautiful respite from the busyness of the city. I will be back! And with friends ;)

My friend and I love everything, and the service especially. Emmet in particular, was a pure delight : so graceful and tactful, so very talented to create cocktails and such a fantastic host: he even took us in different places of the salon to take pictures of us for memory. The decor was very special, and the ambience perfect, soooo very refined and made for relaxing and CHATTING!!! No loud music thank God, no bright lights, enough space between tables, everyone there chatted and was full of joy. A very unique experience to... be renewed for sure :-)))

A charming experience from start to finish. We were greeted by a friendly host who took our coats (more about this) and brought us to our table and seated us. She also had drink recommendations (mine was perfect), also available as a mocktail for my daughter. The rooms are beautifully decorated, traditionally ornate, as are the table settings. There’s a nice selection of teas - and you have the ability to change your choice. Our cups were filled frequently, as were our water glasses. The courses are set for the 5-course prix fixe afternoon tea experience, but we did have a choice of soup or salad to start. Both were delicious, as were all the subsequent offerings that were delivered graciously to our table. Five different kinds of sandwiches, two different flavors of scones, then a light crepe cake, finally a small plate with petit fours, macarons, and chocolate-dipped strawberries. Servers checked on our table frequently, but unobtrusively. The only part of the whole experience that made us feel the tiniest bit less-than-welcomed was the notification that my daughter’s cardigan could not be draped over the back of the chair, it would need to be checked with our coats if she weren’t goi g to wear it. There wasn’t an explanation, just a statement that it was prohibited. I wondered if this was a concern that it might ruin the intended aesthetic of the room… We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Lady Mendl’s, but it is a splurge!

This was a lovely tea experience. I have enjoyed Afternoon Tea in many places; and this is one of my favorites. The tea was served hot--like it should be. The service was delightful. But best of all, was the food. Five courses. All wonderful and fresh. A delight. The next time I am in New York, I will return here. Attention to detail was paid in the table settings and room decor. I have already highly recommended Lady Mendyl's to my friends and family, who appreciate the art of tea.

Couldn't recommend this place highly enough! When we told the waiter that our friend was gluten free, they tried extra hard to create substitutes for them, like a salad instead of scones and strawberries instead of the crepe. The regular food and sandwiches were fantastic, and the ambiance of the place couldn't be matched. A bit pricy, but well worth it given the food, excellent tea, great service, and decor.

Lady Mendls is located in a gilded age New York City townhouse. Most of the historic features and embellishments of the era have been preserved and one gets a good idea of how people lived at that time. We were welcomed and asked to wait for a few minutes lounging on historic furniture until our table was prepared. The afternoon tea included five courses starting off with a choice of salad or soup, followed by a selection of five different types of sandwiches (all uniquely flavored and nicely presented), freshly baked scones with clotted creme, raspberry preserve, crepes cake and petit fours. All courses were really delicious. We chose to have a matching tea with each course, which was great because we got to try all of the perfectly brewed teas on the menu. The cocktails and the service were fantastic. If you want to experience a traditional afternoon tea served by very friendly and attentive staff in a gilded age atmosphere, Lady Mendls is the place to go. We enjoyed our stay very much and will certainly come back.

This is our favorite place for afternoon tea. We've been for special occasions, as well as just for a break from a morning of exploring downtown. Either way, Lady Mendls always delivers. The staff is friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and predictive of one's needs! The food is perfect, and abundant. The teas are varied and special; some are quite unique. Just a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

This place is Amazing!!! I took my daughter here for tea and we were not disappointed! We had Googled best Tea Rooms in NYC and we decided on this!! The place is beautiful and has very nice staffs. I liked the pastries and chocolates but not the sandwiches. Tea was good but weren’ t very hot since the pots were kept in the room without having a warmer. Overall I had a great time. I recommend this place.
