Some of the best afternoon tea I have ever had! Loved the warm scones and homemade fixings. The ambiance is so unique and beautiful
Lovely atmosphere, very small portions, uninspired sandwiches and very very overpriced
It was a birthday celebration w 6 women We try to go for high tea when it is one of our birthdays We all agreed that this was our favorite place that we have been to Everything was perfect and special and so elegant
Thanks for an amazing experience
This is a wonderful place for tea! Service was fantastic.
Always love going here. Food and service are wonderful
Lady M's is one of a kind & my favorite place for high tea! Give me a Brownstone in Gramercy Park over the Plaza any day. Not only is the tea service & food delicious. The staff, decor & ambiance just can't be beat. The same well mannered staff is there year after year. Which speaks volumes. You're greated by a hostess wearing a perfect black Breakfast at Tiffany's frock. Who blends the perfect combo of manners & personalization. The furnishings & decor are truly enviable. Surrounding one with happiness & style. I have always chosen the the tea pairing menu, as they know tea much better than I. Experienceing perfect tastes with both classic & innovative choices of sandwiches & desserts. Which are intricate, well thought out & a joy for the palate!
Honestly this place is the bomb!
Can I move in?....lol.
A very pleasant afternoon
Such a great venue for afternoon tea! It’s always a treat to come to this Victorian setting to just relax and enjoy earlier times. The food is plentiful (and delicious), although mostly sweet. Perhaps some of the breads needn’t be so.
The amount of food I received was NOT worth the price. I left hungry and it was a $70 meal. I paid $70 for a few snacks. It's a bummer because the food was incredible and the atmosphere was really nice, but that's not enough to justify the amount of food they give you.
Really enjoyed our time at Lady Mendl’s!
Daniella was amazing. She was very attentive and kind. Our entire 5 course meal was superb. I look forward to coming back again.
Catching up with old friend
I found about Lady Mendl’s through a Google search for afternoon tea. I read that they only opened at certain hours, and that they charge $25 for not showing up, so I thought maybe they will be snobby & unfriendly. But I was pleased that the staff was very friendly, beginning with the host who greeted us, and the space was intriguing with the sense of a British home.
Our table was next to the kitchenette, so it was a bit noisy. At first, when I asked for coffee, I was told that they only had tea. Then I asked again, because without coffee, I couldn’t enjoy the tastes (just me, my husband loves tea.) Luckily, the server accommodated my request, and I really appreciated it as I was just wondering where to get coffee!
The menu is fixed: a delicious watermelon & feta salad, various sandwiches, scones with cream & jams, a very delicious cake! On that date, it was vanilla cream cake, really yummy! Then a few sugary treats.
My only complaint was that the sandwiches were not enough for my big appetite. I wish we could have ordered just a few more. Other than the portions and the noise from the kitchenette, everything else was perfect, especially the service.
I took my niece there for her 16th birthday - very nice ambiance
Experience was Ok. Booked for my wife and her girlfriend for her birthday. Wife loves afternoon tea... (we are originally from England). She said it was odd one didn’t get a pot of tea to yourself, instead there were seven or so teas in pots on a bar/counter that were served to you. They weren’t kept warm and basically she got served lukewarm tea. For an afternoon tea, one should expect the tea to be served hot! Scones were delicious though... and served with a clotted cream (quite a light version but clotted nonetheless!)
Setting was quaint, in a brownstone so ambiance was great. Shame about the tea. It wasn’t busy, only two tables and service was meh. Would my wife go again? Probably not.
Pricey but you’re paying for the ambience and tea salon experience which was great. Not a fan of tea but the tea pairing really opened up the possibility of switching from coffee to tea.
I loved bonding with the Bride to Be over Afternoon Tea. Lady Mendls was the perfect venue. Unfotunately, it became hard to have a conversation with the bride as there were 4 other bridal teas going on at the same time. I won't ever book an intimate time like that on a weekend ever again. And it was really only 1 Bridal party of 10 which seemed to cause all the commotion with boisterous laughter and loud talking making all the other guests have to speak louder to one another. Domino effect.
Other than that, the service was great. The food was nice. And the ambiance. Well...being at Lady Mendls is all about the ambiance! My only wish is that perhaps the Tea Salon could ask guests to keep the noise down for Afternoon Tea. I'm sure that the weekday reservations are much more delightful.
Food, tea and service was amazing. it was very quiet and not crowded at all, perfect for a beautiful, picturesque anniversary lunch.
I have been to Lady Mendls for tea manyctomes and it never disappoints! Always such a lovely and relaxed experience. This was my first time going in the summer when it’s much quieter, but it was like we had a private tea service! Our server was excellent and the food delicious as always. I have tried tea at the bigger spots like Bergdorfs and the Plaza, but keep coming back to Lady Mendls because the experience is just so much nicer and more relaxed!
We went for birthday, but we waited for 30min (we came on time) and no candles or any special. The food was just ok. Not worth.
Lady Ms was the perfect spot for a special tea. Everything was delicious and the ambiance was lovely. I would highly recommend this for tea.
This tea salon is absolutely adorable! The tea, food, and service is exceptional. Highly recommend.
I love that got to bring my mom and sister and show them what a wonderful place this is plus everything is delicious we are going to go more often. Made me a fan cause perfer coffee over tea but the aviance is so beautiful that I'm keep going here .
It was lovely and service was spectacular
It was a lovely afternoon, the food. and service were delightful
This is my second visit, and each time I have enjoyed it immensely. Food, service and ambience were all outstanding. I look forward to going back and would definitely recommend Lady Mendl's to a friend.
Loved Lady Mendl's! Perfect for a summer afternoon -- the dining areas are a beautiful oasis in the busy thrum of Manhattan. The tea, food and cocktails were expertly prepared and served.
Lovely spot. Charming and cozy and great service .
The scones were absolutely amazing. Our server was really friendly and helpful.
Worth every dollar! The service and food was excellent. A great experience.
Outside entrance mysterious and unassuming. Inside 19th century elegance. Upon entering there is total silence and quiet serenity. I sat on a settee with silk cushions. The plate service was refined. The server excellent, the five course tea delicious. It was an all round lovely experience. I will return.
I have been to afternoon tea around the world and this is the best there is. The ambiance is comfortable, pretty, opulent but not stuffy. The food was plentiful and delicious. They started with a homemade soup and after an assortment of traditional and less traditional finger sandwiches, we had scones with clotted cream, jam and lemon curd and at the end they had lady M crepe cake- one of my favorite desserts. The service was wonderful as well. I will be back.
It was so delicious. I love this place. They have the best treats.
We stayed for 3 and 1/2 hours talking which is what we wanted in a wonderful Edwardian home atmosphere perfect for a college reunion of three. Food was excellent, service great and just overall the perfect place for what we wanted.
Beautiful location for a special occasion. We weren't offered unlimited food that some people had mentioned in other reviews but everything that we were served was enough to make us satisfied. The artichoke sandwich was phenomenal but the cucumber sandwich would have benefited from either seasoning or cream cheese instead of butter. In general, the food in the prix fixe tea was delicious. I do prefer the option of being able to mix and match my savoury and sweet though as you would get with a traditional tiered plate. However, we had the tea pairing which made me step out of my comfort zone and led me to try some unique teas that I would never have attempted otherwise.
The decor was beyond beautiful whilst still being eclectic.
Elegant place with great service and excellent food. The best for bridal shower or lovely lunch with girlfriends.
It was a great atmosphere and food. But we had to wait for a table even though we had a reservation and initially we had to ask for more tea.
There was a bridal shower happening in the other room and they were so loud. It made it difficult to talk at times- very disappointing.
I was surprised with a gift card to Lady Mendls and could not have been happier especially after reading about the salon in Tea Time magazine. The service and food were fabulous. Can’t wait until my next visit!
