One of my favorite restaurants in New York and in Paris. Who doesn’t love the decor. The food is always wonderful although I wish they would bring back the quinoa salad. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful ( as they always are) and made a wonderful birthday evening even more special for my husband. Lovely not pretentious
Everytime i visit the city this is my go to place.
We like the Ladurees in Paris and New York for the ambiance, traditional French decor and delicious viennoiseries. Been a customer now for years and consistently disappointed with the lack of service in the restaurant in NYC. We hope the managers take customer reviews seriously...
BUT having visited the NYC Laduree several times now during our visits to New York (we live out of state), the service is consistently mediocre:
Inexperienced hostess with no common sense
Inattentive restaurant servers (when there are just a few customers to tend to)
Good food (the avocado toast was a work of art in a floral petal design)
Pretty terrace (if they would have heated it and let customers out there to use)
- we had made reservations and arrived right when they opened and were first partrons
- we had requested a terrace seat (like they allowed us the prior time), but the hostess explained the heaters were not turned on and we had to sit in the main restaurant. that was fine.
- then we requested a four top table in the back room. So we could be comfortable and we usually order a lot. The hostess said we could not and that we had to sit at a two top. And took us to a tiny table in the corner. I would have understood this if it were rush hour and packed with guests. But were were the only ones at 9:00am.
- I repeatedly asked for the larger table and she responded in an irritated voice and manner. So rude! Then finally allowed us to sit at the four top. We ended up ordering four dishes - so much for a tiny table that would pretty much accommodate a latte and croissant.
- the server was slow, barely checked in on us. We were the only customers in this room. I had to get up a few times to find help. The servers/staff all seemed to be chatting around the bar each time I found them. Oh and by this point at 10am the restaurant only had three other customers.
- the store front staff working the macarons counter were on it - attentive, kind.
Foot was great but arrived cold.
A lot of noise this time (it’s usually quiet).
Left my hat on the seat to go to the bathroom and no one was able to tell me where it was after that. Very disappointing for a restaurant from this standing.
This place could be very special, but the initial impression of grandeur is quickly met with mediocrity. The service is undistinguished, the food and drink underwhelming. Not to mention the lack of detail in dirty menus, wobbly tables, wrinkled napkins... The menu could stand an increase in price to support a higher quality experience and change in management.
Pastries are great regular food not good
Valentine’s Day was extra special at Laduree.. The menu was delicious and service was impeccable! I guess this will be my new Valentines tradition! 💗
Amazing as always. Best onion soup in nyc.
Great food but service is lacking. Waiter took a long time to get to our table to take our orders then took a very long time to bring coffee to our table.
Food was not as expected. Ordered lobster linguini and it was just linguini tossed with a few pieces of lobster claw. No sauce or anything.
Dessert was very impressive though.
Arrived at Laduree for an 11:15am reservation, and our tables were not ready. The hostess asked us to wait a few minutes and said she would check us in. We waited for a while then went back to the hostess to check if our table was ready, and the hostess had forgotten to check us in (and didn't remember my name). We were finally seated at a table that hadn't been cleaned and had food crumbs all over it. It was unsanitary. Overall, the service was very disappointing. The wait staff never came and asked how our food was. If we wanted anything from the server, we had to try and flag them down, which took forever. While the food itself and atmosphere were nice, the poor service ruined the experience.
The service wasn’t that good. We got there at 9.30 and the rest of the party 15 min later . It took time for the waitress to take our order even that we got there long time before the rest of the people. We needed to
Ask for lots of things as very few times, and maybe towards the end of our meal, the waitress approached our table asking if everything was ok. I had the salmon avocado toast . Not tasty at all . From the beginning we ask the waitress to bring croissants with some jellies and she never brought the jellies. overall we had a nice time because we were celebrating and the restaurant is very pretty, but the service and what I eat were not that good.
The servers were incredibly attentive. Everytime my friend and I looked up from our plates - even for a second - someone would jump to help us. We laughed a bit about it, but it was nice to know the team was at the ready to make sure we got what we needed.
Wait staff not as well trained as they could be.
Food was good.
Server could not be anymore rude, inattentive and unhelpful. She forgot parts of our order 4 times, was wrong about describing certain items, and when the check came, she actually pointed to what the one girl tipped and said “well she gave this much” in order to have my friend tip the same amount. Insane. Shame on her
Amazing thank you!
Truthfully this is a overrated place to go and eat dinner. I understand I went for Restaurant week where you get a 3 course meal for a fixed price, but I was rushed was in and out within 1 hour( I came in at 6:45, left at 7:45). I would go back for the dessert not the dinner. Also it was slow so why rush me and clean up my table, very unfortunate since I loved the desserts. The food was also mediocre, felt like it was all pre-made and not cooked to order. Definitely a tourist trap.
My friends and I had a wonderful brunch get together to celebrate our friend’s birthday! The service was wonderful and the food was delicious!!
They didn’t have the winter garden open which was a little disappointing. I ordered the Benedict Egg and came cold without any flavor plus they didn’t bring me the courtesy bread and butter. I did not enjoy my lunch at all.
Amazing ambiance just like when we went in Paris
We had the avocado toast (vegan and with salmon) which tastes amazing. I also had the Laduree Melange tea which is also amazing; However when I asked for a second cup so my friend can taste it as well we were told that this was against policy. Very disappointing! I also bought a candle (US 70) and had it added to the check; when the employee came for payment (not the server a different person) he shared the amount for 20% tip with me INCLUDING the price for the candle; when I reduced the tip by the candle he acted upset. He was clearly not thinking; However he made me feel cheap which really upset me. Overall great tea, great food, weird policies.
For the cost, everything was substandard - from the lackluster service, dirty upholstery, dry sandwiches, greasy shoestring fries, to the burnt coffee. Had high hopes but very disappointed.
Went to Laduree when it first opened for lunch & a few times afterward.
Went for dinner definitely went downhill.
Lobster roll was Awful.
No Laduree salad anymore.
Does not compare to the one in Paris.
Best for tea & pastry.
We had a lovely, elegant, breakfast. The atmosphere, food and service were excellent. When we stay in Soho Laduree is a must!
So fun for a girls brunch! Food is amazing and service is good.
Chic, nice and wonderful
Gone downhill significantly. The restaurant felt dirty (chairs all stained); staff was inattentive and took five minutes to even get someone’s attention to be seated. Food was fine. Will not return- far cry from the experience I had hoped for.
Party of 4. Went for lunch at 1pm on a Thursday. We arrived about 15 min too early so waited until 1pm to be seated despite the restaurant being relatively empty. We didn’t mind, as we arrived early so the wait was ok. Our server took about 10 minutes to show up after we were seated (kinda long for an empty restaurant). We ordered four dishes plus a tea and coffee. After waiting for 20 minutes we had to flag a bus person down to check on the status of our drinks. They managed to get our drinks but our tea and coffee were barely luke warm. Then our food arrived but they only brought 3 dishes. Forgot to order our fourth dish. So 3 people had almost finished eating before we got the fourth dish. In this entire hour, our server didn’t show up once. She took our order and just never returned to check on things. We then had to flag a bus person again to ask for the check. And then again to pay for the food. All in all, terrible service and experience. Very tired place as well, all their chairs are completely stained and dirty. Plus their whole vibe is rude. We won’t be going back even though the Food is decent.
Great food and excellent service.
Very unique French atmosphere, we had breakfast for 2 adults, relatively small but very sufficient portions
Great presentation, will be back
I went with two other people for Afternoon Tea at Laduree Soho, what an utter disappointment.
I really was not expecting much considering the price was quite low for New York City, however after today I will never step foot into this place again.
While the ambience was quite charming, and the service was fine, the actual tea and food was such a letdown I don’t even know where to begin.
The tea selection was quite nice, however when the tea actually arrived, it was warm and I had to request milk twice before I got it. I’m not quite sure how you can mess up a classic Earl Grey, yet somehow they managed to do it. It was so weak I could barely taste it, which is quite strange for a black tea.
While the food at the other tables looked delicious, since we ordered the Afternoon Tea, Our food was a small selection of sandwiches and macarons/pastries. The macaroons, as expected were excellent, however the rest of the pastries were all either overdone or lacking in flavor.
Most surprisingly however was the presentation of all the food, which for three people was all placed on a tier dish together for us all to share. The thing is, the food was not equally divided, so we all had to compromise on who would eat what, or cut the sandwiches/pastries to share among the three of us.
Additionally, and perhaps the most odd, all of the sandwiches came pre-packaged in wax paper that we all had to unwrap ourselves, and they were clearly not made the same day as the bread was mushy and bland. All of the sandwiches tasted stale and were such an odd combination of flavors that nobody at the table finished the food, despite the fact we were all famished. Absolutely abysmal.
All in all, this was without a doubt one of the most disappointing experiences.
There is absolutely no way in hell I will step foot, much less make a reservation for the place ever again. Total and complete waste of money! Such a shame.
Great food and service!!!
Great birthday experience for my daughters!
Love this place. Reminds me of my time in Paris. Looks great for groups. Would go back soon!
Great place and a local touch of Paris
Really beautiful place. Food selection was good and food was delish.
The food was wonderful with just the right portion size. The service was wonderful and the room lovely.
This was my first time here. I brought my mother along as a surprise for her the day after Christmas. We came for brunch at noon and were seated right away (with a reservation). We ordered omelets that were so-so (I don’t think I’d go again for an omelet); however, the macarons, tea and coffee were marvelous. If I go back, it will be to the front cafe for macarons and a latte (forget about the other food!). Also, service once seated was very, very slow. It took us 30 min to receive our check once we were finished eating. The waiter seemed to care more about other women ordering champagne. 🙄
We have visited Ladurée in Paris and London for afternoon tea and absolutely loved the premises as well as the fare. Ladurée Soho was very disappointing. The entrance was dirty and unpainted. The blue velvet room had very dusty seating. And, the chandelier room had badly soiled drapes and passementerie as well as severely soiled upholstery on the chairs. It took quite some time to get served. We were handed two menu books without content ... someone had removed the menu sheets. When the waiter came to take an order we could not place it which resulted in an order delay. The pastries we requested were not available. We had to request water glasses. The sandwiches were average. The macarons were divine as usual (the saving grace). To top it all, we were scolded by OpenTable for not keeping our reservation when we made it to the restaurant a half an hour early and gave our name to the host who found us in the system. Overall, our expectations were not met. We are used to superlative experiences at other world Ladurée locations. In any case, the macarons are superb and otherworldly, the best we ever tasted, and worth going back just to purchase them.
