Ladera Grill - Morgan Hill Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately there are few fine dining locations in Morgan Hill so we still go here on occasion and about half the time I am disappointed. Two of our party had large salads which they liked and the other entree ordered was very good. But I had the halibut special which was so dry it was almost inedible and had almost no flavor. The side vegetables were nice but the brocollini was too tough to eat. The wine by the glass selection is nice. The noise level was so loud we could not really have a nice discussion at the table. I have been reluctant to go but friends like it so I acquiesce, but will be much more reluctant. The food prep is just too unpredictable. A busy Saturday night is not the right time to go. Lunches and quieter evenings have been more successful.
Wanted to stop somewhere for lunch on our drive home from an amazing weekend in Big Sur. We learned that the restaurants at the Rosewood Corde Valle are not open to the public. When we attended the US Women’s Ooen a couple years ago, we had dinner at Ladera Grill. We decided to stop and try lunch. It was perfect. Great service, wonderful wine, and superb food. Ladera is a great stop for lunch or dinner.
My husband had the Teryaki Salmon, all he tasted was Teryaki and no taste of the fish. I had the small plate of steamed clams and a cup of clam chowder.
Clams were in a weird broth- kinda spicy and I like spicy but tasted weird and the majority of the clams were very fishy and/or bad- I had to keep spitting them out until I just couldn’t try another ( I think I got 4-5 decent clams.)
Clam chowder good but no clams to be found in the soup.
My husband had been there before and had steak which he said was really good.
This is a "go to" place for consistently prepared good eats and cocktails.
I have never had a back experience with a meal here, but two weeks ago I took an old
friend to lunch on a Saturday and while my salad was good, his steak sandwich was so
full of grizzle, there was more undigested meat on his plat than in his stomach. Very disappointing and very embarrassing since he doesn't live here and I chose to take him here.
Please don't offer a steak sandwich unless its something you can be proud of.
We choose this for a quiet birthday celebration as we had not been to this place. We like trying places we had not been before as one of us is a very good cook. We arrived early so we can get a good parking spot. We had a great table near a window. The waiter and his brother were outstanding and took great care of us. We also had an outstanding meal, the Osso Bucco was outstanding as were the salad and dessert we had. The owner is a traveler and photographer (as we are) and enjoyed the photos he has around the room. We want to go back for just their soup and salad (Clam Chowder made everyday!). Thanks also to the Manager who was very nice to talk to as we departed.
I am a regular at Ladera. Made a reservation for Halloween early enough to sit outside and watch the trick-or-treat groups down Monterey. Unfortunately, many people paid their checks and just sat at their tables not moving. To add insult to injury, the restaurant management did not set time limits for this special occasion and therefore, many of us that had reservations for the front patio, waited and waited with no relief. I finally gave up and took a table on the side of the restaurant. Management needs to resolve this if only for special occasions like Halloween. Guests need to be more considerate of other customers waiting as well. Disappointing Halloween
Food was decent (forgot my dishes name) but it was a stuffed chicken breast with roasted potatoes and greens, that was superb! My wife on the other hand had the Beef Wellington and that's was bad... we actually had to send it back and it was taken off our bill. The meat was suppose to be well done but when brought to us the outside was charred to the point were all you could taste was a bad charcole taste and the inside was pink like medium rare. It looked like the chef was cooking on high to the point where the outside was to burned to save but the inside was still very raw. Anyways we also got the Cocunt shrimp and truffle mac and cheese for appetizers and those were very good the only bad thing was my wife's dish. Overall it was a pretty average place nothing to fancy nothing to cheap and pretty good food I would be ok to try this place again and if I do I'll write my 2nd review
I have lunch here often but had not been for dinner in a LONG time. We started with oysters, which we offered with cocktail sauce, mignonette and fresh horseradish as well as lemon. I had the lamb osso bucco with risotto, and it was excellent. The service was wonderful, as it is always. (Ask for Ursula... ... ...) My friend had the rib eye and said it was done to perfection. It was her birthday and they brought us complimentary ice cream written in syrup. We had a glass of pinot noir each but there's no corking fee on Monday or Tuesday!
My Wife and I drive about 45 minutes to come here. We love this place! We’ve always had a great experience here. We’ve never been disappointed in anyway. The Food is great and so is the service. We always make reservations and the staff does a great job in Reminding you the day of, as well as a friendly Email. We envite our Friends and family here all the time!
Although Scampi was not on the menu, a special request was made and the cook accommodated this request. The presentation was lovely and the scampi delicious. Always appreciate the willingness of Ladera to accommodate the customer. Best restaurant in Morgan Hill!
Excellent food! The major downside for me was the noise level. Everyone speaking very loud to be heard over the next table, and the next and so on. One other frustration was that service was slow. So, if you don't mind the noise and slow service, the food is definitely worth the time.
We ordered the avocado roll appetizer - very tasty
My friend ordered the sea bass from the evening specials menu - huge serving and very good.
My husband and I ordered the steak from the evening specials menu - very fatty and small
Good thing my husband had the clam chowder soup (excellent) and I have the wedge salad - we were not that hungry for the steak.
We had a bottle of Jordan 2012 Cab - always wonderful and not overpriced at this restaurant.
Service was very good, just too bad the steak was sub par.
Service was great, super fast seating despite being busy and attentive without being over bearing.
Starters were promptly delivered, the calamari was nice but a bit heavy on the batter.
Main courses were well presented and tasty.
Overall a nice causal evenings dining experience.
Since I don't live in Morgan Hill, I don't eat at the Ladera Grill as often as I would like.
Usually I am eating there for lunch. They have a varied lunch menu but I especially love their salads. It is a great place to take friends as the atmosphere is nice and you don't have to shout to be heard like in some other restaurants. Highly recommend them.
The food was just ok, nothing to rave about.
I had the Tuscan chicken. The mashed potato presentation was awful. The potatoes were scooped with a big spoon and tossed on the plate. The vegetables were tossed on as well, absolutely NO style or presentation. Looked like a meal I'd serve at home!
Very very noisy indoors.
We also had the oysters Rockafella and that was fabulous!!!
