Ladera Grill - Morgan Hill Ratings and Reviews
Food was great. Disappointed that we made a reservation, waited 25 minutes to get seated, then we get sat by the door and every time someone leaves we get a cold blast. Server was ok at first but then couldn’t be found. I ordered 2 bottles of wine and she didn’t pour one glass! The bill took forever to come and then she never returned, sent someone else to run my card.
I believe they need quite a bit to reach the "fine dining" status. We were seated on time. We ordered Sparkling wine, they brought wine glasses instead of flutes. The service was very sketchy. The food was good and we still had a good time because we were an up-beat group.
Love the decor, the food and the service! Sat in the other side this time. thought it would be quieter.. not. still need to work on the acoustics. Wine by the glass selection is not the best, so be prepared to order a bottle if you want something good. or better yet, bring your own.
We know the owner who has been a great supporter of Henry W. Coe State Park in Morgan Hill, California. Ladera Grill is one of the swanky restaurants in the South Bay. We have been going for anniversaries and the new year and have taken a guest once. Would return and usually have.
Three friends and I went to Ladera Grill for our Christmas celebration. The service was ridiculously slow and our waiter was not very nice. He got irritated if we asked for anything. I had to ask 4 times before I finally got sugar for my coffee. His attitude was terrible.
The food was delicious as it always is.
It was WAY too loud to carry on a conversation at our table. We seriously had to yell across the table to each other to be heard.
I really like Ladera's food but I'm not sure that I will pick it for my next gathering with friends. It's just too loud to have a pleasant meal there.
I ordered a bowl of soup and an appetizer for my main course and asked that they both be brought out with my guests entrees, unfortunately only the appetizer made it, the soup was a no show. Also, I ordered the Ahi seared which is served with wasabi, but no chopsticks or soy sauce was presented. I think this was more a service issue, we had a young female server who seemed in over her head that evening. Ladera will need to up their game when the other new restaurants open downtown in 2018.
Ladera Grill is my favorite restaurant south of San Jose... it is the only one it always comes to our mind when we want to eat out or introduce friends to a good restaurant in our area...
Always best food, best wine (and very reasonable), nice staff.
It's an A+ place.
Unfortunately there are few fine dining locations in Morgan Hill so we still go here on occasion and about half the time I am disappointed. Two of our party had large salads which they liked and the other entree ordered was very good. But I had the halibut special which was so dry it was almost inedible and had almost no flavor. The side vegetables were nice but the brocollini was too tough to eat. The wine by the glass selection is nice. The noise level was so loud we could not really have a nice discussion at the table. I have been reluctant to go but friends like it so I acquiesce, but will be much more reluctant. The food prep is just too unpredictable. A busy Saturday night is not the right time to go. Lunches and quieter evenings have been more successful.
Wanted to stop somewhere for lunch on our drive home from an amazing weekend in Big Sur. We learned that the restaurants at the Rosewood Corde Valle are not open to the public. When we attended the US Women’s Ooen a couple years ago, we had dinner at Ladera Grill. We decided to stop and try lunch. It was perfect. Great service, wonderful wine, and superb food. Ladera is a great stop for lunch or dinner.
My husband had the Teryaki Salmon, all he tasted was Teryaki and no taste of the fish. I had the small plate of steamed clams and a cup of clam chowder.
Clams were in a weird broth- kinda spicy and I like spicy but tasted weird and the majority of the clams were very fishy and/or bad- I had to keep spitting them out until I just couldn’t try another ( I think I got 4-5 decent clams.)
Clam chowder good but no clams to be found in the soup.
My husband had been there before and had steak which he said was really good.
This is a "go to" place for consistently prepared good eats and cocktails.
I have never had a back experience with a meal here, but two weeks ago I took an old
friend to lunch on a Saturday and while my salad was good, his steak sandwich was so
full of grizzle, there was more undigested meat on his plat than in his stomach. Very disappointing and very embarrassing since he doesn't live here and I chose to take him here.
Please don't offer a steak sandwich unless its something you can be proud of.
We choose this for a quiet birthday celebration as we had not been to this place. We like trying places we had not been before as one of us is a very good cook. We arrived early so we can get a good parking spot. We had a great table near a window. The waiter and his brother were outstanding and took great care of us. We also had an outstanding meal, the Osso Bucco was outstanding as were the salad and dessert we had. The owner is a traveler and photographer (as we are) and enjoyed the photos he has around the room. We want to go back for just their soup and salad (Clam Chowder made everyday!). Thanks also to the Manager who was very nice to talk to as we departed.
