Lacroix Ratings and Reviews
We reserved the Chef's Table in the kitchen with a high end wine pairing. The experience was fantastic and the food was outstanding. The sommelier was with us all night, and it felt like we had 4 waiters. The Chef explained each course. If price is not an issue, this is a TREMENDOUS experience!
We should have never gone, after looking at the menu on line, but I felt that my date really wanted to take me there. We had the cheese plate with 3 mildly interesting cheeses and some strange smears across the plate, one of which was coffee flavored, five toasted walnuts and a few slices of apple. My date had the lobster roll with a poppy seed dressing, which was just okay, and I had fish-n-chips because I just didn't know what else to order. The batter was a bit lacking in flavor and a little heavy on the grease, especially on the underside. The fish, however, was cooked fine and the French fries were very good. All in all, good pub fare. An Oregon Pinot Noir at $20/glass seemed a bit pricey but we were at Lacroix after all. Overall, the experience was disappointing.
Great location, high exspectations, overall very good service, presentations of food somewhat rushed, food hit and miss. Preset menu was interesting, but half of the meals were very plane. Great pretense to be European, but lacks the soul. Unlikely will visit again.
I went for brunch with my wife, who is a brunch expert, and she said it was the best she's had! Definitely reserved more for a special occasion, the brunch at Lacroix is worth the time. The spread is impressive, and when you can pair the food with their excellent drink selection, it's a win.
My husband and I dined at Lacroix for a special occasion. When we made the reservation we told them that I am vegetarian. They prepared a tasting menu for me that was similar to the omnivore tasting menu for my husband, with ingredients like grilled sweet potato or wild mushrooms instead of the animal protein. I believe it was also vegan (I did not notice any dairy items). Everything was absolutely delicious. We had a table by the window overlooking Rittenhouse Square. They surprised us with additional courses not on the menu. (I was so full I had to take the last course home with me.) I recommend Lacroix for adventurous eaters who would like a long meal with lots of time for talk with your dining partner(s). Although the price is high, I thought it was very good value for the money.
A very elegant ambiance overlooking Rittenhouse Square. Overall it was a very nice experience with very good service. I did wish that they would offer more of an alla cart menu rather then the limited tasting . However I understand since they probably do not get as much traffic as other non hotel restaurants.
We really enjoyed our Valentine's Day dinner at Lacorix. The restaurant is truly elegant from decor to service. Loved all the fresh flowers and plants in the restaurant. We had the 5 course tasting menu with several surprise "mini" courses in between. The restaurant overlooks the Rittenhouse Square park which was beautiful at night with all the lights on. Our favorite dish from the night was the butter pouched lobster. Overall, a wonderful experience for us and we will definitely be back!
sadly this hotel in great need of a face lift all around. I would not spend my time or money here! Choose a different high end place in Phila. I made a reservation for breakfast and was given a table in a large room that faced the wall. This table gave a view of the building. so many empty tables, no reason for this nonsense! Eggs served buffet style & were cold - I heard a customer at a table near me complaining to the waitstaff about it. Guest rooms are old with old wall paper, king bed is on wheels, sheets were clean and hard to touch, too much starch, but the mattress was 25-30 years old, headboard nailed to wall, mattress stunk- finishes are brass and worn off in bathroom sinks and shower. no tile in shower on floor just a plastic insert on floor that does not match the rest of the marble bathroom that looks like 1990 in bathroom. my personal items left in my bathroom were touched by staff after departing for dinner during turndown service-. Items like but not limited to : my make up mirror, hair brushes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, perfume bottles, mens shaving razor, lotion, personal body wash, etc......a total invasion of privacy. This place has robots in place of people who are overly polite to hold on to their jobs because based upon my experience this place doesnt fill rooms and they have to do something to keep guests happy. We will ever return, I give this grade a D
Exceptional. Best meal I've ever had. Waiter and sommelier very knowledgeable and made the experience top notch. Can't wait to go back. Lots of extra goodies from kitchen between scheduled dishes. Tasting menu was well crafted and well thought out. Wish I did the wine pairing because my cab franc did not go with everything. Will do next time!
The staff was very polite and professional, the food was Great with layers of flavors. I would have liked a more detailed explanation regarding the plates as they were presented to me.
I went for dinner and had the five course meal, I would recommend it and I will be going again in the near future.
Once again, Lacroix knew how to make a lunch date with my daughters special. Before going to the nutcracker, I took my 20 year old and 9 year old daughters. The waiter was amazingly kind to the younger daughter. Yet, the atmosphere was sophisticated for myself and older daughter. We sat by the window and had a lovely meal. Truly a memorable lunch. The food was excellent. The choices were perfect, plus the special kids meal was spot on. Thanks!
Gracious fine dining. Excellent food should never be rushed. The quality and preparation of each morsel was there to be savored. Elegant service. Truly a 5 star culinary experience. Proud that philly has such a world class, traditional dining experience. The lobster! The duck! The celery root flan!!!! Wonderful.
Food was good, but a bit boring given the other restaurants in town. Needed to get the tasting menu, which is troublesome. Some items really didn't work, particularly the dessert. It looked nice, but was not that good. There was an unevenness in some of the other dishes.
Had an office staff holiday party lunch for a group of 4 at Lacroix. The food was very good and the setting overlooking Rittenhouse Square is scenic. The main issue was service. Despite a relatively empty restaurant, we had three different servers, only one of whom seemed to be on the ball. When we placed our orders, the server had to come back because he had written down the wrong thing. One person in my party ordered a Cobb salad without chicken, but it came loaded with chicken. By the time a server came by to check on how everything was, she had picked the chicken out of the salad.
