About Labrador Lounge
Labrador Lounge, now in Normandy Beach, was born in Belmar when being busy meant the wait staff only got one surf break and walking your dog on the beach did not result in a monetary fine. Today, the Normandy Beach restaurant serves up Marilyn Schlossbach's popular vacation-inspired cuisine. Whether you order a Lobster Dynamite sushi roll, baby back ribs, or Marion's crab cakes, each dish is served with effortless style that is complemented by warm ocean breezes and the summer salt air.
Opened all year long, bring your own, bring it often and indulge in the Labrador Lounge experience.

Labrador Lounge Ratings and Reviews
MIXED REVIEWS - Let me first say the food was very tasty!
BUT .. I didn't realize it was restaurant week. The menu was not the same as what was online, it was very abbreviated. They had a prix fixe menu, 3 courses for $32+/-. The portions were very small I guess due to the prix fixe menu. My appetizer (calamari) was actually more filling than my entrée (boneless short rib). My desert, (apple crisp with vanilla ice cream) was about the size of one scoop of ice cream. The portions were very disappointing to me and my guests. We actually went to a nearby pub afterwards for after dinner drinks and ended up ordering some apps at the bar.
I may try Labrador another time since the food was so tasty but if that is the size of their portions normally, that will be the last time I go there.
ALSO, if you go there in the winter, DO NOT accept a table along the windows. The drafts are terrible! We asked to move our table and they were very accommodating but I felt bad for all the women that were still seated at the windows wearing their coats throughout their dinner. Our interior table was very warm and cozy.
This is not my first time dining at Labrador lounge. I have dined there many times over the years. This week is restaurant week so it was wonderful to see that they participated in it. The meals we enjoyed for this week all was excellent. The service people were very friendly and gave us good recommendations for our main courses. So don't pass this restaurant up. You won't be disappointed.
I had dined at the Labrador Lounge twice before but as I live in Bayville I avoid the shore restaurants in the summer but on this occasion my daughter who lives in Ortley reminded me that at this time of year restaurants are not as crowded and also this was Restaurant Week along the shore. We decided to go and were delighted with everything - it was all that I remember and more. You have such a varied menu compared to other restaurants in the area. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Been here before but decided to try it for restaurant week. Despite the constraints caused by a price fixed meal, the kitchen turns out a creative and very tasty menu which supplies something that everyone can enjoy. The friendly wait staff is attentive. This BYOB has always delivered. P.S. if you have a dog and sit outside, pets are welcome.
I've been eating at this place since rosali's I'm bay head. The food is always perfect, even the that rice stuff... what's that called again? Oh yeah risotto. I had the scallops with some kind of raisin reduction sauce and polenta, it tasted like fall... even if it was 75 degrees out. Well I'll be back here many times in the future, I hope they consider moving back to the back yard in bay head.
Eclectic and always creative seasonal menu in this BYOB near the beach. Energetic and friendly wait staff. Flawed by small technical lapses in execution; i.e. bland under-seasoned polenta, soggy calamari overdressed in sauce so not crisp but in the end the taste is there. If you are looking for something different from the standard homogenized menu, then this is an exciting place.
Have been to Labrador Lounge before and enjoyed it very much. Our group was "older" (60+) and we found it to be really noisy (we were inside and I guess that's to be expected for a summertime popular restaurant), however we found it difficult to speak to each other without shouting. Menu is always imaginative and food interestingly prepared and delicious. Service was absolutely fine for a busy night. My only suggestion is that maybe they should add a simple grilled fish to the menu for those who don't want "interesting" dishes and ,again, if you're looking for a quiet place to dine this is not it. Will recommend it and I'm sure I'll go back.
The food is good and the specials change. But the service was a bit rough...more like a diner. It was nearing end of night so probably tired. Had swordfish which was very good, but really small portion. We dine here a few times during season and few after the summer. The food and service was better in July, so maybe a slightly off night. ceiling is low so noise level inside is usually high. Outside is good, but when you get large groups with kids that like to travel, it can be tough for couple dinning.
