Nice food awesome server
Had a lovely time at l'abattoir. The server was very nice and helpful. Hope to come here again soon.
Peace and love!
Always a wonderful experience at L’Abbattoir, with attentive service and amazing food.
Thank you!
As a CEO , I travelled and dined out a lot. I have to say that this is one of the best version of classic and innovative French dishes like Duck a l’orange , steak Diane and westcoast halibut . Loved the ambiance and the service was opulent. Great value for all budgets to taste great French food in Vancouver. I highly recommend it and will be a returning customer . Thank you !
Brunch was great. Get the scone to share. YUM! YUM!
L'Abattoire exceeded expectations!! I've been wanting to try since I moved here 10 years ago and FINALLY made it in for our Anniversary. All of the staff were lovely and helpful (I have food allergies so I need to be careful with the menu), the wine list is excellent, the cocktails were some of the best I've had, and the food is divine. Will be back - SOON.
Excellent and innovative French food. Yum
Special occasions or fun friends night.

Excellent food and service. Not too loud. Check out the menu online to see if it's to your taste but they delivered in spades.
Great food, service and ambiance. We went for Sunday Brunch and our expectations were exceeded.
We had a delicious meal at L'Abbatoir. It's a solid menu with fresh, seasonal choices--and everything we ate was exceptionally prepared and served. Great cocktail menu, too.
Always delicious. Some of the best cocktails in town.
The offerings at L'Abattoir are very creative and provide interesting twists on modern cuisine. But, the execution is full-on with all manner of flavors competing for your palate -- sometimes it works but often it overwhelms the primary food. For example, the scallop tartare had a clever citrus sauce but it was so strong that the scallop taste was lost. Likewise, the Szechuan-crusted duck was well-designed but the execution was too much -- too salty and too strong to the point where the duck could have been any meat. If you like food that 'goes to 11', this is your place but for us, it lacked finesse.
perfect ambiance. not too busy and the servers are attentive. Food was excellent.
Fabulous scones. Delicious Niçoise salad. Great selection of sparkling wines. All in all a lovely place for a leisurely Sunday brunch.
We came for brunch with the family. Delicious pastries as a starter and then wonderfully created dishes which were fresh and well balanced.
Great food - delicious and beautiful presentation. Service was good but not as warm or friendly as I'd like.
the food was very good. there was a good variety of options for everyone in the party, and it was creatively and attractively presented.
We appreciated the BC wines on the wine list.
Our server was attentive.
We were distracted and irritated by the music that was broadcast in the restaurant. It was too loud and did not enhance our experience at all. we also found the restaurant was very loud, and everyone had to raise their voices to be heard.
We are unlikely to return.
We really enjoyed our experience here, celebrating our first anniversary. Every employee was extremely polite and knowledgable. Would most definitely recommend for special occasion dining if you're in the area!
Overall great food, ambiance, etc.
The waiter ‘misunderstood’ Our order and only brought us 1 eggs Benny (thinking we were going to share?) because one of us ordered the Benny and the other said - we are an easy order - I’ll have exactly the same. There were 3 of us, so he might have double checked on that before walking away. Instead of blaming us when we told him we each ordered one when he only brought onevto the table - he should have just apologized in the beginning and not walked away with a bit of attitude. Otherwise - all was good. I’m sure he’ll know who we are now after this review. 😋 We made light of it in the end, but I have been in the service industry long before he was born - so try not to show your attitude in front of the customers, we all make mistakes - just own it and carry on.
The pastries were amazing and all the food was great. I’ll be back.
Our Brunch at L'Abbatoir was thoroughly enjoyable. We were seated in a lovely area toward the back of the resto, overlooking Blood Alley. It was bright and airy and was the perfect spot for our small group.
It was difficult to make a selection from the pastry basket but I chose a pear danish which was very good. I ordered the burger, hand shaped on a house made brioche bun which was delicious. The waitstaff was friendly and very attentive. Definitely a resto worthy of another visit.
We live out of town but had business in Vancouver. I specifically booked our hotel so we could walk to dinner. Our meal was amazing as always.
We had a reservation, but the table wasn't ready so we had drinks at the bar while waiting which wasn't a big deal but obviously ended up driving up the bill.
We were then taken to a separate seating area through a hallway in the far back of the restaurant. It was cold and quite empty, which eliminated the ambiance that we experienced in the front.
Things went way south when my Steak Diane (45C$) that was ordered medium rare came out very rare. I brought this to the waitress attention who apologized and said that the kitchen has a practice of cooking it on the rarer side, and we both mentioned that such information (after waiting for 30+ minutes for the dish) would have been helpful when ordering. She offered to get the manager and have it remade, which we said no need for manager but if it can be made actually medium rare and not 30+ minutes.
It came out for the 2nd time, within 15 mins and was at best 10% more cooked than before so instead of very rare it was rare. Disappointed and speechless would be understatements. At that point, we did ask for the manager. The manager removed the charge for the steak from the check, and off we went, one of us still hungry . . . over two hours after arriving at the restaurant.
Very nice place for dinner with excellent cooking en very nice wines. The place is relatively noisy.
The food was excellent
The general experience is really good. It would have been a 5star except for the miss on the on Cipollini on Steak Diane. It was SALTY!! Replaced with another one but still SALTY. The guy host (at the door) was not very welcoming (bordering to rude) as well, hence, 4stars on service. Still, we had a fun night and can't wait to go back to try other stuff.
The food was delicious and service was great. However, I think the waiting time for the food was a bit too long...(about half an hour somehow)
This place was amazing! The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, the exposed brick and entrance tiles were features I really liked. But none of that compares to the food! Beautifully presented and delicious. I will definitely be going back for the chicken confit and riz au lait again. Let's not forget about the cocktail; the little sparrow was very well balanced and just sweet enough for the tequila. The wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. Thank you for an amazing experience.
Always a great ambiance and exceptional food!
overall it was a good evening - however the portions were very small, except the duck dish which was excellent and portion good; 3 people each had something different - each mentioned the small portions;
Food tasted great and dishes looked amazing. I would recommend it for special occasions. The cocktails were also very nicely made.
Sat at the bar. Loved the ambiance.
baked oysters yum
wine list... a bit pricey : (
Bread basket yum
My friend and I wanted to enjoy a fine dinning dinner to celebrate her birthday, so we choose to check out l’abattoir. We where greeted and where asked for our coats to be hung. Further we where seated in the back room side by side tables with other guests shoulder length apart. We could hear every conversation that was going on, which felt a little impersonal and uncomfortable. We seem to look pass the ambulance and where excited to taste the food. We started with the oyster in a white hollandaise sauce with truffle on top, and we loved them delicious. Then comes out mains I order the duck with red cabbage and my friend ordered the scallops. So my duck came out raw and I was concerned about eating raw poultry, so I politelay asked my server if that was how its suppose to be and she reassured me thats how its cooked. I asked if I would get sick and she mentioned that duck an another type of bird can be severe raw. Anyways I pursued to trust her and finished my meal. I’ve never heard of eating raw duck and made me very worrisome, because the lady beside me also had a very rare steak which was completely bloody and I over heard her ask the server as well if it was suppose to be that way. She advise that it was how the kitchen cooks their meals. Now to my friends meal she receives her scallops that where beautiful presented but unfortunately only cooked on one side and the other side was slimy and raw!! Again raw!! Embarrassed as it is with my meal she asks the server and she reassured us that they only cook it on one side. After many minutes of telling our server that she wasn’t happy with her slimy scallops my friend ask for he kitchen to refry then to be cook on both sides. Our server replaced her scallops with a new dish, which was nice to get them done properly. We ended with the yogurt and beet dessert and we where thrilled to taste something delicious and at the fine dinning level. Overall our experience was no what we expected and wouldn’t pay 40$ for a main!
Went to L'Abattoir after some great wine tasting activities at the Vancouver International Wine Festival, and it didn't disappoint. Excellent food, very interesting wine list, inventive cocktails, attentive service. My only comment is that it's a bit expensive - three cocktails, two appetizers, two entrees, a half bottle of wine and one shared dessert came in at a shade of $300 for the two of us - and in my book, that's a little steep. But I'm glad we went - it was a very pleasurable evening.
Service is terrible here: the worst I can remember of any restaurant in 20 years. Brunch options are standard fare, nothing extraordinary. Food, when it eventually came (90 minutes after arriving) was fine. However the miserable experience created by our generally incompetent waiter eclipsed any interest in the food. Would never return.
Food was great. Service was awful. This is the first time submitting a review.
One of the weirdest dining experience ever...one guest waited 1/2 an hour for her coffee, nevermind refills. Different staff coming to our table yet we couldn't identify who actually was our server. Long wait for food.
Thanks to the staff who ran across the street to get mustard for us.
amazing staff and great food
Went here for brunch on a weekend. Great food, great ambiance and decor. My fiancé ordered coffee but it took a long time to arrive, all the other guests who came after us were served coffee first and we had to ask for it. Other than that, the donut with raspberry jam was to die for and the drinks are strong!
I mentioned it was our anniversary and we were surprised with a free glass of champagne at the table. Everything just got better from there. The cocktails were phenomenal, especially the avocado gimlet. The food was incredible as well. We shared the pork jowl for an appetizer and tried the steak and duck as our main courses. We are very excited for our next outing!
Absolutely fabulous dining experience....love love love the little glass room (even if I was a tich cold ) our lovely server was exceptional and so was the cuisine. Gorgeous drinks. Always adore L’Abbattoir and it remains my favourite. Merci beau coup
