Our biggest challenge was finding the right, high-quality ingredients for the dishes we wanted to serve. Hence, our gardens were planted. We are dedicated to offering only the finest and freshest foods. We have also taken great care in assembling a team of only the best chefs, a sommelier, and experienced kitchen, dining, and garden staff.
Come and taste the experience for yourself.
This is the perfect low-key date night out type of Restaraunt.
Both the service and food were very good.
We really enjoyed the penne pasta in vodka sauce. The bread was fresh and drinks served promptly.
We really enjoyed this place and would definitely come back!
Great, classic Italian food with excellent service. Has the feel and experience of a neighborhood restaurant, and it’s always consistent. Thanks for a great meal!
Fantastic food and service!
We love this quiet Italian restaurant! Food is excellent always.
Food and service was great.
Very Good Food. We really enjoyed everything we tried, from Lasagna to Chicken Parmigiana and Risotto. Will definitely be going back.
Solid food in a nice setting. Service was very friendly, but not terribly attentive. If you have the time, it's a nice relaxed pace. Ordered a Negroni, and they didn't seem to know what it was (strange for an Italian restaurant).
Opentable showed very limited reservation slots, but the restaurant was less than 25% full.
Food was very good and they have a nice selection on their menu. We had to ask for a wine menu, which I thought was unusual for an Italian restaurant. I would have thought they would automatically given you a wine menu. I wanted the veal dish but the menu didnt say if it came with a side. I asked our server if it came with pasta or anything and he said no, just the veal but you get a soup or salad with the dinner. I ordered it anyways. When my meal was served I got string beans with it, which I really didn't want because I already had my veggie when I had a salad. I would rather have had a little angel hair pasta instead. They had four servers for such a small place and some of them looked like they couldn't handle their tables. Our server was good and efficient, but there was a young couple that came in and sat at the table next to us who had a terrible server. They asked their server for a wine menu and when she brought the wine menu she looked at their ID's. Then she didn't come back to take their drink order for 30 minutes and they placed their food order at the same time. Fifteen minutes later their server brought them their appetizer and but still hadn't brought the wine. Now it's been 45 minutes that they waited for a drink. I would have walked out if I was them. By this time we left because we were done eating. I don't know when they got their drinks. We had to wait 45 minutes for our entree so I'm sure the young couple had to wait just as long, if not longer because of their server. I don't think I'll be returning to this restaurant. There's plenty of other good Italian restaurants in the area.
Food was good. A nice local place. Not enough staffing to properly service customers.
First time dining here. The ambiance has a New York Italian neighborhood feel from 65.70 years ago which made the dining experience that much more enjoyable. I recommend the baked oysters for the appetizers, simply delicious. For the entree try the veal medallions. The food and service was very good. Also a great wine selection.
Excellent in every way except too long between courses.
We were looking for a new restaurant and stumbled upon this one. Glad we did. This is a classic old-school type of restaurant with really good food. I'm surprised it wasn't busier on a Saturday night. Two of us had different veal items, and each was terrific. One of us had risotto, which could have used a bit more taste but had good texture. Both desserts we ordered were great. The wine list is very limited but the Valpolicella I had was quite good. And, you can't beat the price for this quality. If you want a low key restaurant with solid food, this is a good place to try.
Service was a bit slow, but the food was worth the wait.
We love La Zingara, great food, wonderful atmosphere, very special place!
Good food and nice server, authentic Italian restaurant
A very nice place to get a great meal. Service was warm and friendly. Food was excellent. Nice to have a regular go to place!
Such a hidden neighborhood gem. Great food, great service and a nice atmosphere. We will return soon.
What a great, delicious, authentic treasure—-! We didn’t expect to find this fine quality Italian food in the Arlington Heights, Prospect Heights area! It truly reminded us of family owned restaurants that one finds in the Tuscan villages!
Food is simple, classic, and excellent. Atmosphere is simple white tablecloths, paintings, small comfortable seating. Service is personal. Do NOT be put off if the place e is not crowded. Come in, sit down and eat a wonderful meal.
And...the value is outstanding. Portions are huge, prices and far less than downtown. We will return!!
I can’t say enough..the entire evening was perfect.
This was the absolute worse service I’ve experienced in my life. We made reservations for Mother’s Day for 6 people. They did have a table for us and we sat down. After 10 minutes, no one came over so I got up and found the menus and brought them over. After 10 additional minutes of being ignored (20 in total) we left. When I say ignored - I mean ignored. No water, nothing. When we left, no one bothered to ask why we were leaving.
Food was great and our waitress, Julie, was fantastic as usual.
The food was delicious and the ambiance was good. However our reservation was not recorded for Sunday but a different day so our table was not set up when we entered an empty restaurant. Open table was a disappointment as we wanted a 6 pm res and it was stated the earliest was 6:15 which was not true as the restaurant was empty. After we waited for our table to be set up 5 other people arrived so our waitress was serving 13 people and our service was very slow, food that belonged to another table was delivered to ours. One of our guests did not get the correct ravioli dish and the waitress said " I thought you wanted the one most people order". They did remake it. The owner was there standing behind an empty bar and never offered to assist the waitress who was complaining that everyone came at once. Only 13 people where there the entire evening. The food is good but the service need improvement and this is not a new restaurant.
Tasted like homemade. I liked that it was conversation friendly.
Greeted warmly, very authentic , terrific homemade
Soups and pastas
We went out as a family of four on snowy Christmas Eve. Food was delicious and served nice and hot. The waitress was very friendly and made us feel welcomed.
Good Italian food. Friendly, attentive service. Reservations accepted.
Everything was great but the heat was broken and the restaurant was cold. Food and service were great!
A spectacular find, low prices, comfortable, white linen tablecloths flavorful food. Winner
food was great and service was lousy. There were two waitresses to serve approximately 20 tables
Short staffed. Only 2 servers and no bartender or hostess. The wait for drinks and food was too long but understand with only 2 workers.
My pasta and ham dinner included less than 5 pieces of ham.
There were only 2-3 tables occupied in the entire restaurant. I have come before and don't recall having a bad experience. This time however, the food was not good. I didn't finish my meal and didn't bother bringing it home. I got the chicken Saltimbocca (sp??). My son had a steak. He said it wasn't great. It was better than mine! I believe our waitress was fairly new. She did a decent job thought, so no real complaints there. I just don't know how the restaurant stays in business. I am very disappointed as this is a local restaurant that has been there for a long time. Nice to have a place to go to other than downtown Arl Hts. I hope this is a one-off review and others are good because I would hate to have this restaurant go under. However, I am reluctant to go back....
Great Italian food, and the service is fabulous. I love this place.
Food was only fair. Entrees were not hot. Service was very slow. Disappointing.
Service and food very good Very friendly restaurant, live music
We go here often. Most of the time we are one of the few there. Service is good. Not too pushy. This time service was poor. The kitchen was so busy and behind. Took 35 minutes to get our main meal. That's never happened before. The food is always fantastic as tonight. The way they make one meal for one person dragged them down.
This place is awesome. Family owned, they care about the food and the hospitality. Wonderful food, great atmosphere. Recommend this to anyone.
Truly great Italian cooking in a neighborhood restaurant. It almost feels like you're in someone's home, great feel to the restaurant and a wonderful staff.
The Italian food here did not disappoint this Italian.
Hadn't been there in a number of years. Unfortunately, it has gone downhill since our last visit. The place was empty at 6:30 on a Thursday night. Two other tables were occupied and there were a few pick up orders that evening. At 7 PM, we were the only diners. The appetizer of prosciutto and burrata cheese was heated making it greasy and runny. The eggplant parmesan was done single layer like a flat pancake and had far too much sauce on it. The orriechetta was a special with sausage and peas in a cream sauce and did not have much flavor. The menu is far to extensive for a restaurant with little business. A smaller menu might help improve the quality of food. Even the salad was disappointing and consisted mostly of lettuce on a plate. Too bad as the area could use a more positive Italian dining spot. They do have a pizza take out attached to the restaurant which must be keeping it afloat.
