La Voile truly takes you back to France. From the French waiters, to the authentic menu, to the furnishings of the restaurant, it all pays homage to French dinning. After being seated, not unlike in France, the wait staff may take a little while to ask if there is anything one would like to drink etc. but from there it is a superb experience. The food and wine made for a lovely evening dinner. We even returned two nights later to have drinks at the bar. Just a great place.

We celebrated New Years Eve with friends. As always, food was excellent, service was outstanding, and waitstaff were friendly and helpful.

Consistently delightful, visit after visit. Always welcoming. Great cocktails. Escargots and onion soup gratinee, then beef and veal blanquette. Delicious chocolate dessert and rare cognac to enjoy at meal’s end. Cozy, special, French ambience. I can’t think of a single thing that I would change.

We had New Year's Eve dinner at La Voile, and thought they did a great job. Good service (as always), nice special prix fixe menu in addition to their regular choices, and the prices were not elevated just for the occasion. Love La Voile!

We were there for lunch on a really cold day and the waitstaff seated us even though the kitchen hadn’t yet opened. They were gracious and attentive and the food was better than the service! I’ll certainly eat there again.

The food is very good for the level of restaurant, obviously not 5-stars, but neither are the prices. The service is 5-stars however, and overall the bang for your buck at this restaurant is outstanding.

My wife and I loved this restaurant. It's intimate and has a European feeling - you could easily imagine being in a small place off the Champs-Élysées. The tables are very close together, but they do a nice job seating their patrons with open tables between them so you don't really notice. We both agreed we will definitely return to try more dishes. We had the prix fixe option, and the food was outstanding. The butternut truffle soup was delicious, and we both had the venison which was prepared perfectly, complemented by a creamy squash and chanterelles. Service was excellent, very attentive, and they made us feel special. The wine list is extensive and on the expensive side, but if you know your French wines you can find affordable alternatives from lesser-known regions like Languedoc-Roussillon as well as the new world.

Christmas dinner, food was great, but the service was SO SLOW. We were waiting 45 minutes for an appetizer, when the tables next to us (who were seated after us!) were served before us. It was the same scenario for desert.

Usually the food is stellar here but on Xmas day, it wast up to the usual standard. The sea bass wasn’t great but the chestnut soup and salad were very good. Perhaps it was just the holiday menu but it was an off afternoon for us

Go every year for Xmas Eve and have never been disappointed. Foie Gras, onion soup, escargot, lyonnaisse salad-all wonderful. (Especially foie gras-could eat it all day long. Friends had prime rib and we had the duck-both perfectly cooked and delicious. Love that the food wasn't at all rushed as does some places, where you're not even half done your appetizers and the main course comes. People near us had the fish which is boned and skinned right at the table. Looked incredible. The couple next to us had the roast chicken that was also boned and carved tableside. Even after our meal,i was ready to order the chicken it looked that good. I really do love this place. Service is always impeccable-wish i had our waiters name to contact the owner about how great he was. Don't go expecting a rushed meal,a quiet meal, and definitely be prepared to close seating and having to have a your table pulled out to be seated(in some tables).. We often get too set in our ways of what should be. Relax and enjoy the camaraderie.

La Voile is usually a reliable authentic French restaurant which let us down badly on Christmas Eve. The food was mediocre at best, and it was their regular menu, not a Xmas special . They did offer a prix fixe menu which was uninspiring. Hopefully this was a once off due to the holiday and they revert to their usual high standard of excellence.

Overall, the food was very good, but the Dover sole was excellent. The service was very good. The restaurant is a French bistro with lots of character, but not for a quiet romantic dinner.

WE thought it had gone down hill since the last time we were there: soggy salad dressing, overcooked veal, and not os great bread...ambience is French and fun, fish was excellent, service was good.

As usual, La Voile rendered an enjoyable evening. The service was excellent, with plenty of attention to wine selection. Outstanding salad (they provided the recipe to the dressing), excellent modules frites, my steak was tasty if slightly greasy but overall food was quite good.

The French need a word for hygge. If they had it, it would fit La Voile on a rainy, cold, two-days-before-Christmas lunch.

Over priced and small portion sizes. The food was good but I wouldn’t recommend ordering the ribeye (12oz of almost all fat). The cheese platter and desert sampler were delicious. The service was great overall but we had to wait 15 minutes to pay the bill.

Having read several reviews that extolled the restaurant, we were left to wonder how our experience differed so much from our expectations. The escargots were submerged in a sea of green liquid, and thus challenging to find. The beef filet , ordered medium, arrived just a whisper shy of well-done, and....it was not tender, as one would expect that cut of beef to be.

La Voile is a cosy bistro that is quintessentially French in its menu in its service and the presentation of the food. By 7:30 the place was filled with patrons. The wine list was good and the cocktail was excellent. The prices are not inexpensive, but the quality matched them.

Yummy: Went with hubby and 2 friends. Hubby and friends birthday. Friends split the whole bird for two. My husband had the escargot and lamb. I had the Lyonnaise salad and scallops. The scallops were perfect...great texture not spongy or rubbery like so many fake or previously frozen scallops. The lobster risotto that accompanied the scallops was very rich and tasty...maybe a touch too much salt...but I am really stretching for a complaint....it was really delicious. My only complaint is they put us in the back room which lacks the quaintness of the main room. The lighting isnt as inviting, although it was nice and quiet

I love La Voile and try to go as often as I in Boston. The food is invariably very good and the service superb. However on the most recent visit, when the restaurant was extremely busy, we were seated at an unfortunate table wedged in a small space between two dining rooms...one very loud owing to a holiday party. At times we could hardly hear each other. Nevertheless, our meals were terrific. Next time we'll visit on a quieter night.

EXTREMELY NOISY!! Food was properly prepared but overpriced; the wait staff was friendly and attentive. This place clearly caters to long-time patrons, allowing rude, even eccentric behavior that definitely detracts from the ambience. I can't recommend the place, and won't return. This was my second experience, and both were roughly identical.
