We enjoyed another wonderful evening at La Voile, one of our favorite Boston Restaurants. The food selections were fantastic, prepared with the highest attention to detail, creativity and flavor. Of course, you will never be disappointed with the wine and cocktail lists, marvelous. We will definitely return and recommend highly to anyone who has not had the pleasure of dining at La Voile. Thank You!
Outstanding food, wine, and service. Will go again!
I ordered a risotto but it was looking like just rice and cheese.. the cheese wasn't creamy enough or tasteful.
La Voile serves classic French food. Our group of four started with a great bottle of bordeaux suggested by the waiter. For an appetizer, we had smoked salmon. I had a terrine of paté to start, with the cod special atop a base of scallion mashed potatoes as my main, followed by creme brûlée for dessert. All were magnificent. My daughter's husband had french onion soup followed with the same cod. My daughter tried the duck a l'orange, also really good.
Always first-rate. The mussels are extraordinary, and an example of how they make every meal special through attention to detail. I’ll be back soon.
What a cute little spot! Went for drinks and apps with another couple and had a wonderful experience. Our servers were professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. As someone who has lived in France, I particularly appreciate that the wait staff is attentive but not overbearing. Can be a tough balance to find in the US. The wine was delicious. The only downside - which didn't bother me personally, but I know others in my party noticed - is that the tables are pretty close together, but everything else was spectacular. We will definitely be back!
We were able to dine outside during restaurant week in March. What a treat! The service was excellent. They were vigilant in refilling water. We dined at a leisurely pace. The curses were quite good. Even with 3 entree choices we had trouble deciding, so we shared our choices. Très magnifique.
Had our first date there 4 plus years ago. We try to get back there frequently. Francophiles who think this place is as close to a Parisian restaurant as you can get in Boston.
The food (fois gras, lentil soup, braised cod) was excellent and presented expertly. Service was knowledgeable and attentive. We will return for more meals.
I had never heard of La Voile before I saw it on the Dine out Boston website and made a reservation witha friend. It is small and cozy with a very professional and courteous waitstaff - all handsome men with French accents! The decor features beautiful model sailboats. And the food was excellent. The Bourgegnon was full of tender, flavorful beef. Very nice experience.
In typical European style, the dining experience is very leisurely. Many might find the service to be too slow as it’s dramatically different from most American based restaurants. The noise level is high as the dining area is small and the tables close together but then many restaurants are like that today. The menu is small but the dishes are of high quality. Would hesitate to recommend La Voile.
We celebrated our long term friendship with a delicious lunch at La Voile. One, a long time New England foodie, pronounced the mussels the best that she has ever eaten. The menu choices for “Let’s Dine Out” were varied and outstanding. I topped off my meal with vanilla cream puffs that I’m still dreaming about at night. It was a lovely experience that will be well worth repeating.
One of my favorite restaurants in Boston! It always feels like I'm dining in France. The food, service, and ambiance are all divine.
Restaurant Week menu offered 3 firsts, 5 mains & 2 desserts. I had the fabulous pate place (pate, toast, cornichons, onion jam), mussels & fries and floating island - all excellent. My friends tried the salad & cod & rated them excellent too. A wonderful lunch getaway in an authentic French bistro.
Their foie gras is really tasty.
the food is really good. I love cod and beef. but desserts are too sweet
We had a wonderful leisurely lunch catching up at La Voile! We requested a quiet corner table which was perfect to catch up. The service was fantastic, attentive and the food and vine was absolutely delicious!
Dining experience transported our party to a French sidewalk cafe for an afternoon! The staff was friendly and attentive; the food outstanding!
Overall it was a great night to be with my wife. Service was great. We tried a new dish but we both did not like the seasoning or the lack off. We did order another dish that we always get and it was great.
I have been dining at la Voile for a few years now. You are never disappointed; the quality of food is very good. The service is consistently excellent
We celebrated my partners birthday and they felt so spoiled eating here! The attentive and kind waitstaff, who made sure each surprise was memorable and special. The food was to die for and beyond tastebud heaven🤩
Food and service were fantastic, as always. We don’t live in Boston but whenever we visit we always have dinner at LaVoile. Impeccable.
Amazing food, wine and service. Will be returning!
Great food, great service, nice ambiance
So awesome! I would highly recommend
Food was delicious and presented on plate beautifully. Service was great! It was a perfect noise level to have a quiet conversation.
We love dining at La Voile! The quality of the ingredients as well as the preparation are, without fail, excellent! We particularly love how they prepare fish dishes. Honestly though it is the service of the staff that make this place truly outstanding.
It is both how we are treated as well as the happy attitudes we experience.
Food was decent. Service was not as expected.
Great onion soup. My girlfriend loved the Dover sole and I enjoyed the roast chicken.
Been dine here many times with friends or family.
Each time the services just made you want to go back
The place was so warm and cozy, the service amazing, the waitresses wee friendly and professional, the quality of the foods and the price are perfect.
I was a little sad that they didn't let us get seated in the main dining room but it worked out well. Nicolas was our server and he was so attentive that made up for it. The food was excellent and for a birthday it was a very good dining experience. The beef tenderloin and the escargot were excellent. I highly recommend.
One of the most pleasant dining experiences we've had in a while. Susan had the veal and I had the sole, both were excellent.
This place was awesome! Like being in Paris...truly my fav french restaurant in the US. I wish it were near where I live!
Incredible Dover sole
I’m a frequent customer, this weekday lunch was up to their usual high standards!
There is nothing trendy about La Voile, which is why I really like it. The chefs turn out delicious, traditional French dishes, which are getting harder to find in Boston, and the service is professional. On a cold winter night, we started out by sharing an excellent bowl of onion soup gratinée, kept warm by a sinfully thick blanket of cheese. We went a bit lighter for our entrées, opting for seafood: the lobster/scallop "duo," and the grilled loup de mer, filleted tableside. There's a nice list of wines by the glass, and over the course of our meal, we sampled three of the French whites available. The restaurant is cozy-feeling, with sound-absorbing decor that allows for quiet conversation, even when most of the well-spaced tables are occupied by diners. If you, like I, are still mourning the demise of Maison Robert, you'll find comfort down the stairs at 261 Newbury St.
We love La Voile! It is great for a casual but special lunch or for a nice dinner. They have the best frites and steak tartar! The service is great and although the ambiance feels refined/romantic they do accommodate kids by providing high chairs and rushing their food orders. This has become our top spot for a lunch date or when we have family members in town. Great wine selection too!
Really enjoyed dinner here. Only negative was temperature in the room - simply too hot
Wonderful lunch, leisurely and delicious. Perfect location to meet old friends new to Boston
It solid quality place, in my opinion. food is traditional, very testy, everyone can find a good option on the menu (even people with no experience in French cuisine), good size portions.
We were able to have a nice table conversation without shouting.
We went there to celebrate my 87 mother-in-law's birthday - she was very happy!
