Le Duo de Foie Gras
Both Foie Gras!
Escargots bourguignons cooked in garlic & parsley butter
Moulard duck confit*, gratin Dauphinois, green field salad & orange glaze; (add $5)
Made a last-minute reservation to sit at a high-top table noting that it was our anniversary, asked to sit at at a high-top table rather than at the back bar directly in front of the espresso maker, but although that table wasn’t reserved and no one was seated there while we were in the restaurant, was told we would have had to get approval from the manager, which we didn’t want to make a fuss. The cocktails were instantly headache-inducing/cocktail menu is extremely limited, so there no potential alternatives we might have ordered instead. The leek soup was gritty. The duck and salmon were fine, but the mushrooms were overcooked and spongy while also extremely salty. The cappuccino was amazing. 10/10 on the cappuccino.
Great food and great wine. Our server Valentina was so helpful. We will back for sure.
Always the place to go for French cooking in Boston
Lovely environment, warm atmosphere, excellent food and nice service
My boyfriend and I are doing an “around the world” tour for food in Boston. So far France is winning. Get the Risotto appetizer and the sole entree with purple truffle mashed potatoes. ( they’ll debone the fish for you table side).
Staff was genuine and efficient. Ambience was cozy & romantic. Will be recommending to friends and will be back!
Food was delicious and service was great! We ordered the mussels appetizer marinere style, escargots, duck breast (magret), the whole sea bass, and the creme brûlée. All the food was delicious and of good portion. We felt taken care of and service was not at all pretentious. Dress code vibes was nice-casual (like a nice sweater) to semi-formal. Make sure to save some table side bread to dip in the mussel broth and escargot garlic-butter-spinach sauce. Alex was our server and he was very attentive and friendly. He anticipated our bread needs and moved place settings around to make room for our food. He also did a great job de-boning the whole sea bass table side.
Next time, we’ll try the steak frites (l’entrecote) and duck confit!
Wonderful prix fixe meal. Covid precautions super. Terrific staff & food. Will definitely return.
Once again, a great meal, a warm and comfortable atmosphere and the best service. I’m never disappointed!!
I live in Providence where we have a great selection of French food. La Voile is always my first stop in Boston, with menu items you can’t find elsewhere. Always make room for the floating meringue! Truly a gem in this beautiful city with so many options.
Our food was super tasty and everything came out at the perfect time. Our server was extremely attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant was beautiful on the inside and dividers were up between tables for Covid precautions. Overall had a great experience!
La Voile is the one required restaurant meal when we visit Boston. The food is delicious, well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. The service is perfect and the ambience delightful. We shared the foie gras duo for an appetizer - exceptional. The duck confit and steak frites were also terrific choices. I doubt there are any poor choices on their menu!
The food was excellent and our server was very helpful. However, he tried to steer us to a wine that was expensive. We instead had cocktails and glasses of wine that were all very good, but not as pricey.
Wonderful French restaurant. I’ve only been once, with my wife, and we loved it. Fantastic food. The sole is to die for. Attentive service, great ambience. Don’t miss it.
Great experience overall! Food is excellent.
La Voile NEVER disappoints. Each time we go we are charmed in different ways from before. It goes without saying that every morsel of food you order and taste will delight. The wine list is excellent, and Alex will help you every time. Service is flawless and is friendly and kind! I order something different every time, but I do have my favorites. We will always start with the duo of foie gras (seared and terrine), which come with splendid accompaniments. Then to a salade (if I am not having the soupe l'oignon, which is outstanding). For entrees, the dover sole, the saumon, the magret duck breast, the roast chicken carved tableside (30-minutes prep time) are each delicious in their own way. (I have to say that the tableside carving of the perfectly, succulently roasted chicken is a real treat.) For dessert, DO NOT miss the Ile Flotantte. It is sublime. We love La Voile, end of story. Go see for yourself--you will never be disappointed!
Very authentic French food. Superb French pinion soup. French severe to make the experience special. Friendly people. Plexi between tables to feel safe. Highly recommend.
Phenomenal service, experience, and quality. Definitely returning again
Meal and service were excellent. The only surprising note was the Napoleon which was not traditional. More cake-like than usual. Nevertheless I highly recommend this restaurant.
Always delicious! Try the fish soup..it’s fabulous!
Thank you for another fabulous meal! Always love our dinners here :)
Everything as always was incredible. Love everyone there!
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.
The food and service was excellent.
Will definitely go back.
We’ve been frequent visitors to La Voile for many years.
Last night, our visit was spoiled by an elderly gentleman who is apparently, a part owner of the restaurant.
He seemed oblivious to measures put in place to keep everyone safe, standing at the bar right next to my seat. Once he found a seat at the bar, he blocked me in making it very difficult to move my chair back. I struggled to reach my belongings, especially my mask while I was trying to visit the bathroom. He made catty remarks about the size of my bag, a regular ladies bag and, where I had placed it, next to the wall down the side of my seat! Not sure where else I could have put it?!
He was arrogant and sarcastic. This gentleman needs to remember that for his restaurant to be successful, he does need to be respectful of his guests.
Wonderful … as always. Staff ver attentive, food delicious, great ambiance.
Lovely french bistro experience. Salmon and beef tenderloin both well prepared. Service was excellent.
An excellent lunch spot for traditional French cuisine
Nice place but regret ordering the duck (breast), it was rather chewy, I could not finish it, not what you would expect from a restaurant at this price point.
I made a reservation and there was only outdoor seating available then. The weather became unexpectedly worse and so we arrived early to work with the restaurant manager to find indoor seating. The manager was very gracious and understanding- she diligently worked to create an indoor dining opportunity for us. She is awesome!!! The meal and service were wonderful. Thank you very much for making our evening magical!!
Food was delicious, service was prompt and ambience was warm and lively.
La Voile, as usual, amazing. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. We shared the Escargots and it was the best we ever had outside of Paris. We will go back, just a remarkable little gem..
Always superb, today the fish soup for lunch. Simple but astounding. Waitstaff is so very professional and courteous. We return often.
Excellent meal, great service. Though not thrilled with the crowded bar area where we were seated.
Just a very nice competent bistro.
Grandma visiting my grandson at BU and taking him out to dinner!
Great service. Food was very good and the wine selection was superb.
Everything was as usual, sooo good!
We wish we had or favorite server, David tho
The taste of France menu is a great value and the desserts were A+++ (Napoleon cake and cream puffs).
Best service we’ve ever had at a restaurant. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. The food was amazing!
Very authentic French brasserie. We felt like we were back in France, especially since the diners at the two adjacent tables were both speaking French.
