Food was decent. Service was not as expected.
I was a little sad that they didn't let us get seated in the main dining room but it worked out well. Nicolas was our server and he was so attentive that made up for it. The food was excellent and for a birthday it was a very good dining experience. The beef tenderloin and the escargot were excellent. I highly recommend.
One of the most pleasant dining experiences we've had in a while. Susan had the veal and I had the sole, both were excellent.
This place was awesome! Like being in Paris...truly my fav french restaurant in the US. I wish it were near where I live!
I’m a frequent customer, this weekday lunch was up to their usual high standards!
There is nothing trendy about La Voile, which is why I really like it. The chefs turn out delicious, traditional French dishes, which are getting harder to find in Boston, and the service is professional. On a cold winter night, we started out by sharing an excellent bowl of onion soup gratinée, kept warm by a sinfully thick blanket of cheese. We went a bit lighter for our entrées, opting for seafood: the lobster/scallop "duo," and the grilled loup de mer, filleted tableside. There's a nice list of wines by the glass, and over the course of our meal, we sampled three of the French whites available. The restaurant is cozy-feeling, with sound-absorbing decor that allows for quiet conversation, even when most of the well-spaced tables are occupied by diners. If you, like I, are still mourning the demise of Maison Robert, you'll find comfort down the stairs at 261 Newbury St.
We love La Voile! It is great for a casual but special lunch or for a nice dinner. They have the best frites and steak tartar! The service is great and although the ambiance feels refined/romantic they do accommodate kids by providing high chairs and rushing their food orders. This has become our top spot for a lunch date or when we have family members in town. Great wine selection too!
Really enjoyed dinner here. Only negative was temperature in the room - simply too hot
Wonderful lunch, leisurely and delicious. Perfect location to meet old friends new to Boston
It solid quality place, in my opinion. food is traditional, very testy, everyone can find a good option on the menu (even people with no experience in French cuisine), good size portions.
We were able to have a nice table conversation without shouting.
We went there to celebrate my 87 mother-in-law's birthday - she was very happy!
Great food, but they severely overbooked for Valentine’s Day.
Wonderful experience, phenomenal food, and superb service.
Authentic French experience for those that want it, great service and delicious food.
Although the food was very good, the service we received was not so much.
Our reservations were for 7:30, we arrived 10 minutes early and were made to feel stupid for doing so. We went to the bar and had a drink. At 7:50 they came o tell us our table was ready. The first server we encountered made my wife stupid for asking questions about the wine. We are not wine experts, nor are we novices. We have been to some of the best restaurants in Paris and never received service that was comparable. Long intervals in time between interaction with anyone. We were slow to get the wine we ordered and once we did order our meal, it was over an hour before it arrived. So, go for the food and ignore everything else.
Delicious food. Super service. Wonderful ambiance. C'est magnifique!
What a wonderful dinner with friends on Valentines. The prix fix menu was delicious, I got the beef dish. Service and ambience are fantastic!
Great venue for Valentine's Day. Both waiters allowed us to practice our French. This is always appreciated.
Excellent service and food.
Très délicieux. Le personnel est amicale, et la nourriture est très bonne. Je recommande!
Excellent service in an authentic Parisian atmosphere - on a winter evening in Back Bay you can forget you are not in Paris! Delicious food, esp appetizers and desserts!
Good service, good but pricey wine list, nice ambiance. Good was very disappointing: fish soup nothing special, oeufs a la neige nothing special. Steak frites bordering on awful: a fatty rib eye steak barely seared - it could have been baked - undercooked to my order, with just passable fries. Expected better...
The restaurant was crowded, but the ambiance, partly created by the bilingual waitstaff with a sense of humor, was magical.
Basically good dishes, but they were having difficulty either with the kitchen or the serving staff. First brought wrong dishes. Then after a bit of a wait, the steak was less cooked then requested. But still satisfactory.
I live in Providence and this restaurant is worth the drive over and over and over. Excellent escargot, foie gras, and I still dream about the “floating meringue” dessert. Completely obsessed.
This location is one of my family’s favorite restaurant. We always get great food and service.
Dinner with friends
La Voile is my favorite neighborhood place, the food is very consistent and the service is attentive.
As always service was great, food was excellent and atmosphere quiet and quaint.
The food was wonderful, as usual, but the service was spotty. We waited a long time for extra bread and the woman who serve red our coffee forgot the cream. When we finally got her attention, it was another 5 minute wait - cold coffee -ugh
FABULOUS!! Food was Devine.
Wonderful food and service
It’s the go-to French restaurant in Boston!
Excellent food. Excellent service. Excellent steak frites. Good wine.
Fantastic food and ambiance.
Lovely ambiance, with lively, fun diners. Our hostess and waiter were very attentive, and the waiter recommended a very good wine! We had the seared foie gras and French onion soup followed by my wonderful rack of lamb and my husband's delicious veal dish - he raved about the sauce. We capped it off with chocolate mousse and cappuccino. A truly great night!
Excellent service great food!
Good wine suggestion - service was good, kitchen a little slow but it was Saturday night. Dover sole: worth it.
Fantastic Food plus Expert Wine Advice for Pairing...best ever!!!
Birthday. It was good but food was not as good as other French restaurants in the area. My steak was not prepared as requested. Wine was good and reasonably priced.
Well, I asked a few people where best French Bistro in Boston was and got this restaurant. My friends were right. It is so French, great food, awesome wine list, terrific staff. I can't wait to go back!!
