La Voile Brookline
I have been disappointed in the food here the last few times I've come. Bland. Boring. And the chocolate mousse tasted as though it had been sitting in the fridge for a week, soaking up the aromas of all the other foods. I wish I could recommend it. The staff are lovely. But money is better spent elsewhere.
Fantastic restaurant. Service was awesome too. Prices are totally reasonable. Don’t miss this gem.
Hi, we enjoyed eating there but I was not so happy about food.
For example, little too much cheese in creamy risotto I couldn’t understand carrot with mussels, etc.
I know people love salty food here but I don’t like it
We have always enjoyed the food and ambience at la Voile. However, on this past visit the day after Thanksgiving, while three of the four of us enjoyed their meals as usual, one of us ordered the special entrée, which was a duck and turkey stew with white beans. This proved to be exceedingly dry, and lacked any form of liquid which one would’ve expected in a stew. This dish also came in a crock with no accompaniments. Perhaps we should have complained at the time.
Food and staff were awesome and went beyond great service!!
I recently had a birthday lunch at La Voile with my husband and two grown kids. The food was top notch. I had the trout, a dish I highly recommend. Our waiter was terrific -- attentive in a very low key way and accommodating.
I've been to this restaurant a number of times and it's always been a good place to relax and visit while enjoying a great meal.
Amazing, as usual! Authentic French of a good variety and reasonably priced. Lovely atmosphere, excellent service. One if our very favorites.
Hard to rate this night at less than 5 stars. My husband ranked it as "the best meal this year". Nothing innovative, but superbly prepared traditional bistro fare. Unfortunately, the entree course was served a little too cold and arrived with the amuse bouche. The boeuf bourguignon was the best ever! Perfectly prepared, always a favorite. The foie gras amuse bouche can't usually be had outside of France. Magnifique! Wonderful meal to celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau!
We were there for the Nouveau Beaujolais dinner. The entrees and desserts (especially the poached pear) were delicious. The escargot was cold in the center and contained no discernible garlic, butter, or parsley, but the puffed pastry was good. Although wine was included with the dinner, our server waited until the glasses were empty to serve more wine.
A very enjoyable evening with friends. Delicious food, comfortable atmosphere, good wine list.
Our family keeps coming back to our neighborhood LaVoile for an amazing food and elegant, European, chick atmosphere.
Our waiter was attentive and the food was delicious. Small place and tables are close together but we tried to ignore that as it did create an authentic French Bistro atmosphere. We would definitely enjoy going again next time we are headed to Boston. Would also like to try the one on Newbury St.
My son and I will definitely come back. The sooner, the better. From the moment we entered, we were greeted and provided complete service.
We each ordered from the $44 three course Prix Fixe menu. My son ordered the French onion soup for his starter, and the duck for his entree. I ordered the leek and truffle quiche for my starter and the trout for my main dish.
The onion soup brought us right back to France. It was even topped with Comte cheese! We also both loved the quiche which was delicately infused with truffle oil (I find that this is too heavily infused dishes almost everywhere else in the U.S.).
My son ordered the duck medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. I ordered the trout whole. It arrive almost whole (no tail) and deboned. Everything was delicious. La Voile has a unique by the glass wine list which was also appreciated!
For dessert, we both ordered the molten lava cake which was served with vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries. We found out only as we were leaving that our wonderful server Wilson was on his third day working at La Voile. We would never had known, as his service was so warm and professional!
Thanks to all for such a lovely dining experience!
Cozy, very good service, great food.
We had the trout and the others had the duck. Both ample and delicious. Our waiter was available but not pushy . Overall the dinner was a lovely experience. Highly recommend Le Voile.
The food was wonderful and the attentive, friendly service provided by Pedro was outstanding!
We have dined at La Voile Brookline many times. This past weekend we brought friends to introduce them to the restaurant. When I made the reservation, I specifically asked for a quiet table. I repeated this request when we arrived at the restaurant. We were seated upstairs at a table in the middle of the floor next to a huge party (approximately 15), who predictably created much noise. By the end of our meal, we all had headaches and scratchy throats (from shouting) and left before dessert/coffee. My friends were not impressed. None of us would dine there again. I live in the neighborhood, and thought La Voile would be one of my "go to restaurants." Sadly, not to be.
Excellent consistent food and service
Good sole meuniere, my favorite when we travel to France and rare to find in American restaurants. Our 2 guests ordered the same and they liked it as well. Also, good steak frites for my husband. We were giving La Voile another chance, having found the food not stellar in the past.
I told them it was a birthday but they did nothing special. Other than that, it was a fabulous experience
Birthday dinner for my spouse--really great evening. The food was excellent (especially the fish soup with aioli), the servers were very attentive and helpful with explanations or suggestions as requested. We don't eat out often, so it's always sort of high stakes when we do, and this was really delightful. I'd highly recommend either of the La Voile restaurants.
The place is a bit difficult to drive to, but worth the parking pain. The fish entrees are excellent and the service is fast if you are in a hurry. Just speak up. The beef bourguignon is also amazing.
The food at LaVoile never, ever disappoints. In my opinion it is the best restaurant Brookline has to offer.
We enjoy Brookline m ore than Boston. Location works for us.
Great staff. TY
Delicious duck, wonderful service — not rushed so plenty of time to dine and socialize. A bit pricey —$45 for price fixed dinner.
Relatively new waiter. Manager provided extraordinary back-up. Manager and staff were charming and gracious
Great food and service. Good value if you get the three course meal.
Our favorite restaurant in Brookline. The staff is so kind and welcoming, and the food is fantastic.
La Voile Brookline is always excellent. Food is excellent and the waitstaff is always friendly and professional. You can't go wrong at La Voile Brookline.
Food was rather disappointing. Roast duck was quite bland. Sea bass likewise. Have had much better
Check was incorrect however the server quickly corrected the error
Finally we were told that the groupon Prix Fixe offer when we made the reservation did not allow a choice of desert so we did not buy it. However the server told us that all the deserts were included. Thus we ended up paying more for the dinner than we would have if we bought the groupon
We use La Voile as our celebration location. the food, wine, and service are always wonderful
Delicious foie gras and duck. Manager was very helpful and knowledgeable. The server meant well but struggled to do a good job. Not sure how long she’s worked there, but it seemed like it was her first night. We would go back though. The food and ambience were excellent.
We were looking for a traditional French restaurant for my wife's birthday (born in Paris). All the usual ones seem to have gone away or changed.
Found La Voile and glad we did. Good selection of traditional dishes. Excellent onion soup. The Sole Meuniere, in addition to being very tasty, was quite a show. First time in a long time that I saw the whole fish! The maitre did an excellent job of deboning and serving it. The Ile Flottante for dessert was super.
I was reminded of a funky little bistro we went to some years ago in Saint Germain des Pres, La Petit Saint Benoit. Only La Voile is closer to home. I highly recommend it.
Just a wonderful authentic French bistro. We are lucky to have it in our neighborhood! Delicious!
We enjoyed our dinner at La Voile. We had the mussels and the trout. Both were very tasty and done to perfection. We enjoyed a nice St. Emilion red with dinner. The tiramisu was a nice way to finish the meal. Our waiter was very attentive and pleasant. Overall, this was a great dining experience.
Good food in a French Brasserie
We enjoy dinner and wine
I have been to La Voile at least six times and enjoyed each visit. The visit on Sunday, however, was disappointing. The service was very slow and there was no Pinot Noir I was told. The food was well-prepared but the service was definitely not up to the standard I have come to expect at La Voile.
The waitress was awful. She had no people skills. She was pretty but super unsocial and no knowledge of the menu. Never comes by to ask how your food is. The worst waitress I have ever had and not meant to be a waitress. The man that sat us was rude as well and we had to ask 3 times for another drink. Food was good but the staff ruined the night. They need to hire different people.
Great food. Fantastic Foie Gras. (forgive me for tired of writing more xD
Wonderful reliable high-quality restaurant. We come regularly and always look forward to next special occasion!
