La Vigna Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
The first time I was here I enjoyed a great, moist chicken paillard which they serve topped with arugula salad. Lovely. The other times were in the afternoon, shared with a friend: zabaglione, coffee and Benedictine. Lovely.
This time, an evening with a friend. What was enjoyed: the leisurely pace ( a little slow for her but we had a lot to catch up on) and the relatively quiet and nice ambiance. What was less enjoyed: a salad 'ala Vigna' - so chopped up, it did a severe disservice to the ingredients - a chicken paillard which was so overcooked it was leather-like; they did not have the appetizers we originally wanted (on their menu) - tho their baked clams were very good - nor did they have the chocolate cake (ala Vigna). How does one run out of chocolate cake??
My friend does not wish to return, but I would - understanding the limitations and with a certain trepidation. I just like the feel of the place - but the next time that paillard comes up dry as bone, I'll return it vs chewing through it.
This restaurant is a gem hidden away in Queens. We're always looking for good restaurants in Queens near relatives, and this restaurant never disappoints. The food is delicious, the menu creative, and the wine list stands up to any Manhattan restaurant's. I highly recommend La Vigna.
Food was good but service was lacking. Despite having a reservation, there was a delay in being seated although restaurant was not full. After a ten minute wait, we had to gesture frantically just to get a menu. We later noted that we were never served the complimentary cheese and olives that appeared on other tables. Seems like if you are not a regular, service suffers. We are often in that neighborhood and might have considered returning if we had been more welcome.
Excellent experience. The food was outstanding and all the meals were perfectly cooked - and our dinners ranged from fish, to chicken to pasta. Service was attentive and first rate. I highly recommend for a special occasion. Really can't go wrong with this restaurant.
As usual, the meal was delicious! We shared the burrata appetizer, orecchiette, and the shrimp. Everything was great! They made an accommodation for the shrimp , as one of us is allergic to wine, and the dish was incredibly flavorful without the wine. Service is very friendly and professional. The restaurant also offers a prix fixe lunch menu at a great value. Wonderful meal!
Haven't been back here in quite a number of years. We went with a couple of the specials and they were good. Service is on point and portions are perfect. Had the baked clams that were yummy and burrata with tomato and peppers...awesome. I ordered the chicken and the chicken itself was good but the sauce was on the salty side. Husband got the penne Bolognese and he said it was good but not the flavor profile he was used to. Shared a piece of Italian cheesecake and it was good. Very good coffee. "Valet" parking outside was useless fortunately it was also unnecessary. The guy had earphones in an never even moved off the wall to assist. Parked in the lot next door only to read when we got to the restaurant that we would be towed. Asked the guy if parking was there and he shrugged yes. Got back in the car and parked on the avenue.
The food was delicious, as usual. We had a salad and each of us ordered one of the specials. There was plenty of food to share and taste everything. We waited at the bar for our table to be ready and it did not take too long. Our waiter was friendly and attentive.
We did notice that it was VERY noisy. But it was a Saturday night.
La Vigna is a 'go to ' restaurant. The atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming.
Although the noise level was higher than usual, due to a large and loud group, the waiter was kind enough to let us change tables to a quieter spot. The food at La Vigna is always good, fresh, ample. Both my friend and I had pasta dishes, which we thought were delicious!
The salmon carpaccio to start was excellent! It's great to have a reliable above average eatery in the neighborhood.
First time there and it won't be the last! La Vigna was superb all around. The food was phenomenal. The service was perfect. The ambiance was wonderful. There were four of us and we all enjoyed our meals immensely. There wasn't any food left over to take home. I recommend La Vigna to anyone who loves Italian food and enjoys the quaint sophistication this place offers. Looking forward to my return trip...very soon.
I visited La Vigna many times before but for lunch not dinner.
They offered a prix fix and several promising specials.
We ended up with the stuffed mushrooms which were fresh and chewy in a delicious brown sauce, a house salad with , a veal/chicken rollatino combination stuffed with spinach which was excellent and salmon dorato. All topped of by a fresh serving of tiramisu.
As wine we chose a Shiraz by Coppolla which was full bodied and complemented the veal nicely.
La Vigna is an unpretentious neighborhood restaurant in the best sense. The food is delicious and fresh. Tables have proper table cloth and the complimentary bread is a delight.
The service is attentive and the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly.
The prices are moderate and good value for what is offered.
Went to La Vigna for the first time..... for Easter. My small family group of three had a great time! The service was friendly and accommodating. Although it was a holiday, we in no way felt rushed. The menu was varied and delicious. Fixed price offered three courses. One guest had pasta fagioli soup, lasagna and lamb. Another guest had bragiola as a main course. I had pear and walnut salad as an appetizer and delicious perfectly cooked salmon. Portions are generous and prices are moderate. We topped off the meal with spumoni and some hot beverages. A little bummed that they ran out of cannoli! LOL Must have been a rush with the early crowd. The cheese cake looked divine..........Generous on the wine pours! Must return!!! Sometimes you just have to stay local to find the best food!
