La Verona Ratings and Reviews
Another excellent dinner ! We got a table at a bar area window service and Dinner was excellent again Mike the server was very helpful and fun and excellent martini list!
Every time we need a relaxing and Great dinner we choose La Verona!
We have dined at LaVerona many times and have never been disappointed. The food is always delicious, the service very good and owners very personable. They even called me to let me know that my husband left his reading glasses behind...just another example of their customer service.
The wine was "corked" (and the server was so incensed she said she was going to drink it in the back), the server was so crass she actually hollered "NEXT!" as she went around the table to take our orders (in between phlegmy coughing--as disgusting as it sounds), and every appetizer and meal (party of 6) was a disappointment. We had some laughs about our misfortune (it was the only restaurant in Kennett Square at which we could get a reservation for 6 on a Saturday evening), but we'll never be back.
Dinner was excellent, lobster ravioli with crab, scallops and eggplant was superb.for dessert we had a limoncello parfait, which was so refreshing our waiter was will, he was personable and professional. I definitely will be visiting this restaurant in the future
La Verona is an excellent Italian restaurant where you can enjoy a great meal for a very good price. My husband had veal parmigiana and I had eggplant parmigiana and the portions were quite large, while the pricing was very reasonable. We had a 5:45 reservation and the restaurant was very busy by the time we left, so it is a very good idea to make a reservation.
I loved and appreciated the greeting once we arrived. Once we were seated the initial introduction was great and left our mouths watering. We ordered our drinks as well as appetizers. When we wanted to place our entrees, the waiter told us to take our time. The biggest issue was the waiter took over 30 minutes to ask us about ordering dinner. After walking past our table multiple times not once could we place our dinner order. We just asked for the check and wanted to leave and had to go elsewhere to get dinner. I personally used to waitress and having good customer service could either make guest want to come back or never return.
The food was horrible if not inedible. The bread was warm on the outside, ice cold on the inside, the antipasta was essentially rolled up lunch meat and jarred mushrooms and I couldn't finish one piece calamari. Tasted like clam strips - for the amount of positive ratings this restaurant receives I was surprised at how bad the experience was.
Our food was fantastic, lobster ravioli with grilled scallops on top! The sauce was exceptional! The waitress Stacey was an absolute joy, very attentive and friendly! Full of information on things happening around Kennet Square thru the holidays. Had a chance to talk to the owner on the way out too! What very friendly gentleman! Will definitely go back here!
The food & drinks were great. My only negative comment would be about the service. We were seated outside(which we requested), so I don't know if that was the reason for the poor service or not. It took a long time for anyone to even take our drink order, let alone our food order. We were also never checked on by the waiter or asked if we needed refills. This will definitely make us think twice about returning.
We arrived at La Verona on schedule and were immediately seated at a table of our choice. After we reviewed our menu for dinner options, our server, Mike H., appeared promptly to take our orders for antipasti or mushroom soup. I had a house salad and soup. The salad was crisp and flavorful. My wife likewise enjoyed hers for its flavor and freshness. The soup -- water-based, pleasantly spiced, and replete with finely diced mushroom bits -- was splendid. Then we ordered our entrees from an appealing list. My wife said her entree of gnocchi compared very well with the excellent Sicilian food she had regularly enjoyed when growing up. My generous entree of eggplant parmigiana was crisp and delicious. Each of us enjoyed a refreshing glass of moderately priced Italian wine with our meals. At the end, we were too full to explore the appealing dessert menu. Next time, maybe.
In summary, La Verona is one of Kennett Square's best. It clearly exceeded our expectations, offering a quiet and friendly atmosphere, fine and flavorful foods, and attentive service at a very fair price. We are pleased to recommend it to anyone, and we expect to return.
Second time I tried this place. Officially the last time. It took an hour and 20 minutes to get hour appetizers ( fried calamari and roasted artichokes). Both were sub par but. It horrible. We were a group of 4. 2 of which ordered steaks. I ordered the special which was a ribeye and my friend ordered the New York strip. We requested medium and medium rare, respectively, both came out over well done. The ribeye was clearly baked or microwaved. Literally both were inedible ( coming from two American men is seriously saying something). This is literally the first time in my life I sent food back but I refused to pay for this subpar over cooked piece of beef. The server barely acknowledged the issue and no one came to speak with me. It wasn't until I left that something was said by the manager-horrible customer service. I'm surprised they keep busy but I would highly encourage everyone to avoid this place.
Food was below average, over salted and the worst 'pizza' I've ever had. Main course cane to the table as we were in the middle of our appetizers. Basic table service like clearing the glasses and plates to make room for the food or bread plates was left to us the diners. Generally a poor experience and would not be a.
Not that good. Plus: Good location, nice atmosphere and friendly host. Minus: The wait staff was plainly overextended trying to serve far too many tables during the prime dinner hours. Plus: Burrata salad was OK. Minus: The main courses were barely edible, with an overcooked veal marsala and a pappardelle bolognese smothered in a ragu ruined by a burnt flavor. Plus: The bartender mixed a couple of tasty cocktails, and pinot noir and montepulciano by the glass were fine. Overall, an unsatisfying experience.
After seeing so many great reviews I decided on this place for dinner with my daughter & her friend. I'm very disappointed I was again fooled by the rating of this place. First after our server told me & my friend that We didn't need the bread they served & put it on my daughters side of the table. I ordered Escargots & They substituted most of the escargot with mushrooms in the dish & thought I wouldn't notice. Lol then our waiter was shaking so much he almost spilled our drinks twice. My daughters chicken dish was so spicy she couldn't eat it. Instead of being apologetic & removing a dish that was inedible from our bill, our server told us "I like my food spicy so it's not hot to me" & walked away. This Resteraunt is not one that I would ever waste my time & money returning to.
Some what of a disappointment. Food was just OK but nothing special. Being in the mushroom capital of the country, we expected the mushroom soup to be extraordinary but instead was watery and bland. The Caesar salad was also bland. Our veal entrees were tasty and reasonably priced. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The wines by the glass offerings were quite limited and unimaginative. We sat in the bar area which was extremely loud due to several patrons who had clearly had a "few too many"o
We had an enjoyable dinner at La Verona. The service was impeccable. Rachel did a great job taking care of us. The meals were plentiful and priced well. My husband ordered the special for the night which was lobster ravioli. They were a little fishy tasting. Otherwise, we enjoyed this very much.
