Going back to a restaurant that we have not been to for many years, my husband and I were pleasantly
surprised by meeting a new young chef with great ideas along with fine food presentations.
We enjoyed a great dinner along with fine conversation with him and his staff.
We ordered the Dover Sole and Blackened Salmon along with pasta with clams. Everything was cooked
perfectly to temperature and was delicious! It was like catching up with an old friend that you have not seen in many years.
We had a wonderful family Christmas party. Thank you for all you do and all the best for the new year.
We were 4 and all enjoyed their meals, Gnocci Gorgonzola was really good!
Good food , nice atmosphere !
Well when I got there everything was good up until our server came and asked us what we wanted. we started off with drinks, appetizers then entrées. But it seems like he kept forgetting our drinks so I was sitting there with my meal with no water!! I thought that was ridiculous! I figured that when you are seated the first thing you should be served is your drinks how can you forget that??!! And then to top everything off we were all ready to leave I asked him for the check he forgot about my check I sat there at least 20 minutes until he was done with everything he had to do to give me my check! Disappointed I will never go there again!
Everything was fantastic. Great food, excellent service and even buy one, get one free wine special.
Our server, Fazio was a wonderful host. This is a great place for a romantic dinner for two. Our meals were served hot, the food was fresh and delicious. My wife had the rib-eye and I had the Veal Garancho. Both were excellent! We can't wait to come back!
Thank you for a great dining experience. You made date night even more special
Service was excellent and friendly, food was delicious
The food was outstanding. The quality and preparation of the steak exceeded expectations. Being seated with a pier/river/bridge view was very well-received! The valet was professional (opened my girlfriend's door), and a modest tip handing over the key fob produced the desired parked location in front. The service was serviceable. Water glasses were always promptly filled and dishes promptly cleared but not rushed at all. The chef presented himself at the end of our meal for a greeting and feedback, which was a nice surprise. Thoughtful vegetable snacks preceded the entree service and were gratis. The wine list was completely satisfactory, especially the sparkling selection and a panoply of aged Italian reds (particularly Veneto) that are certainly no longer available at retail. I don't order whites as often but the list of whites was particularly solid as well. Would definitely return here again for date night or business dinner. This restaurant is good enough that it should've been more full than it was on a Saturday night - discover it for yourself.
The food was great and the service was exceptional. Our waiter was fantastic. There was a beautiful full moon out that night and we could enjoy it from our seats as this restaurant overlooks the Delaware River.
My party was very pleased with the selections offered. Each of us ordered from suggestions made by our wait staff. We plan to go back again.
I had an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! They saw it was my anniversary from my reservation on opentable and really went out of their way to make us special. The food, service, friendliness, beautiful view of the Delaware, and extra touches from the gm and our waiter made it a perfect evening! Thank you!!!!
Fabulouslunch...was the best!!! The cook brought us fresh delicious red grapes afterourmeal.
We had a great experience last friday night. The view outside while dining was amazing and the food was delicious. It was not our first time there and it wont be our last. I enjoyed the entire dining experience thank you
I have eaten at LaVeranda many times before (when they first opened). Food is tasteful and ambiance is relaxing. My only criticism is that we had so many different servers come to our table that it was hard to tell who the main server was. Plus at the end of our meal, we asked for the check and she said we had to wait as she "had to take care of something else". She was pleasant about it though.
I think your restaurant staff needs to train your servers on some cordial etiquette with the customers.
Dissapointed. Quality of my veal was terrrible. Two patties w limited cheese. All crust.
this was great food, with awesome service, and nice ambiance
We were a group of 12, which the wait staff managed incredibly well. We enjoyed various entrees including Chicken Balsamico and the steak. The La Veranda appetizer is a beautiful mix of charcuterie and cheese - great to share! The menu is not overhwelming but had something for everyone. This was the perfect place for our reunion/celebration, but would also be perfect for a romantic date. Apologies to any couples for whom we were "that noisy party" - the staff had given us a table a bit away from others, and we tried to be good neighbors, but we were ebullient. The place and the food added to our joy.
The staff was amazing. Our steaks and mussels where good, but our lobsters where burnt and chewy. I'd still go back, I'd just leave out the lobster next time
Food was excellent and portions were just right. Very attractive decor. Valet parking is available.
Food was mediocre at best. Had a seafood salad appettizer for $18 which was mostly celery and other cut up vegetables. Penne entree was so so. Waiter did not show us the lunch menu until we asked. Lovely setting but would not return
What a special location for an incredible restaurant with fresh and delicious food and wonderful service!
We thoroughly enjoyed the complete dining experience and plan on returning many times in the near future! Many thanks!
A classic "old school" Italian menu, always well-executed with fresh, quality ingredients. Pleasant, efficient service and a nice view of a slice of the Delaware River. Oh, and valet parking makes it easy to roll in from Center City or from the suburbs.
The location for La Veranda is very nice - on the water (although the view is largely limited to an enclosed boat dock) and near the Spruce Street Harbor Park activities. The hostess greeted us warmly and walked us to a nice table. The restaurant was nearly empty which was a surprise on a summer Saturday evening. My wife ordered the chicken piccata and I had linguini with a white clam sauce. Unfortunately, our server was almost non-existent after taking our orders. When the food came the linguini was OK, although quite over salted (and I LOVE salt!). The chicken piccata on the other hand was completely inedible. The chicken was so rubbery that it was almost impossible to cut even with a knife. My wife notified the hostess when she walked by (again, the server was non-existent) and she was very apologetic and offered to replace the dish or take it off the bill. I would not recommend this restaurant until they completely overhaul their kitchen.
Stopped in before the fireworks on July 2nd. Staff was friendly from beginning to end. They were very attentive, constantly checking in to make sure we were having a good experience. We both ordered pasta dishes which we thought were great. And the view and atmosphere was nice and relaxing. Just what we were looking for from La Veranda.
The staff was great as was the decor but the food tasted horrible. Not worth the expensive price.
Service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and answered our questions quitte well. The was the best restaurant meal personally have had in a long time . Two people in ourpsrty had veal dishes were delicious as was the rigatoni with crab that another in our party ordered.
As 3 Italian-American women who are pretty cooks we found the food to be fantastic.
great place for a Veal Chop near Penns Landing. Service was great. So was the view.
Total gem found on a whim! Looked for a place to celebrate my brothers birthday and La Veranda met our needs totally 😊
OK...I have gone to La Veranda on many occasions sometimes bringing a group of thirty.
The food and the service was always first rate. This time...I guess I'm upset.
The three people I was with had great meals. My Pasta Primavera was so so. I have had it there before...so the chef tried something different...red instead of white, the vegetable cubed in some cases, the bitter broccoli overwhelmed the other veggies, the whole wheat pasta very under cooked. Yes...I know whole wheat is a tougher pasta I use it all the time. And just maybe this dish doesn't deserve the master chef's touch. Maybe a trainee...maybe. I brought most of it home. Full disclosure, it was better the second day.
Here is what is bothering me: We went there to hear a friend of mine play the piano. He was playing there on Saturday evenings...great.
When we got there, we saw that he was not...not a big deal. But...when I asked the Manager where he was, she said he wasn't feeling well...OK.
The next day I immediately emailed him (the pianist) to see how he was feeling telling him we missed his music the night before. He said, "They decided not to have piano music."
I told him what the manager said and to that he replied, "Not everyone tells the truth".
She lied to me. Why in the sam hill would she lie to me. I HATE that. She could have simply said that they decided not to have music during dinner. What would have been wrong with that.
So I admit that one of my character flaws is not being able to wrap my head around people who aren't honest.
That was enough to ruin my dinner retroactively.
Will I go back...not likely.
The restaurant is pleasant, comfortable and the food is good.
The staff was very courteous. I am handicapped. Rec'd assistance at the curb getting out of the car. Also, staff very accommodating during the meal and when It was time to leave. I thoroughly enjoyed the outing as did my friend.
Gracious friendly staff. Delicious pasta and appetizers. Fabulous grilled meats and seafood. Some of the best Italian food outside of Italy!
No wood burning grill for steaks.
No wine list, just suggestions from the manager, which I did not care for. ( she said they were converting it?)
No asparagus soup, or risotto.
Website menu is not the menu you are given.
It was fine, I guess. But not as good as before.
It seems there have been some major changes since my last visit.
Service outstanding food poorly cooked for the price $$. Valet parking charge for guests of $10.00 on top of high prices is not worth the value in my option
Food was good. Service was terrible. Our waiter did not inform us of any specials. We heard another waiter telling the table behind us of all the specials after we had already received our meals. My husbands entrée was not what he ordered but he ate it anyway. Our waiter ignored us the whole time we were there and blamed it on the fact he had another table of 6 that he was waiting on. The restaurant was not even half full and there was plenty of staff. From what I could see he only had 2 tables and spent most of his time hiding out in the back. We skipped desert because we could not wait to leave. Will not go back
Table was ready for us when we arrived. View is beautiful. Food was great. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. La Veranda is a gem!
We were celebrating our son's college graduation. Penn's Landing is a beautiful setting. We enjoyed the nice selection of entries, which met everyone's taste. The service was excellent. Prices were reasonable for a fine dining restaurant. We would recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning.
LaVeranda's hospitality and quality of food is excellent. This is my 5th time there and it gets better each time.
The server was lovely and attentive, but the pasta was not that great. Portion size is generous. My friend had the ravioli, and it was much tastier than my gnocci. Prices were quite reasonable, but sadly, the food was not as excellent as most of the restaurants in this area. I suppose that the fact that we were the only ones there on a Friday night should have been a tip off!
