Great food, exceptional service - will definitely be back!
Italian restaurant and no Italian beer! Odd. The food was delicious but after all the renovations it is still a very dark restaurant! You cannot see what you are eating! Manager was kind and brought a grappa on the house to celebrate my friends birthday!
First time brunching at la vecchia (enjoyed many dinners there in the past). Eggs Benedict were amazing. Mimosas and Bloody Marys delicious as well. Will definitely be back for brunches in the future.
Cozy restaurant with great ambience.
Food was delicious, large wine list to choose even by the glass.
Service was outstanding.
Romantic place, will definitively come back
The waiter let us know that it was frowned upon to order the appetizers before our meal and advised that we put our whole order in at the same time. The complimentary bread for the table did not arrive until after we received our appetizers and we were a bit hungry during the wait time. It was so dark in the restaurant that I could not see the menu and had to use my phone light to read it. Also, the seating was so tight and cramped that the person behind me kept pushing on my chair. I found it a bit frustrating that I was so uncomfortably close to the table. The food was good but the portions were a bit small for the price we paid.
This restaurant is a neighbourhood favourite. Great pasta and yummy salad and pizzas. Also a good choice of fish. Recently had an interior remodel so looks great. Very attentive and friendly service.
I love La Vecchia and often suggest this restaurant to friends and family. Our waiter seemed to not care about our table and like he was too busy for us. My brother had to ask for his drink (ice tea) twice and was still charged for his drink.
Probably the worst service I’ve ever had here and my family will not go back. This saddens me as it is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city and this experience was not great.
Food was excellent as usual. The noise level was awful. We couldn’t hear each other and everyone around us seemed to be raising their voices to be heard by their table mates. It detracted significantly from the overall ambience and overall enjoyment of the evening. I’ve been to noisy restaurants before but this was truly unbearable and excessive. I’ve been to this restaurant many times and while a little noisy it was never this bad. The only difference was where we were seated. At the front, on a busy night, you can’t hear your friends or the waiter letting you know the specials.
We were seated in the cantina(basement). Cool setting...though a bit loud and echoey.
Alessandra is a fantastic server, smart, professional and personable. We had a great evening, great food and friendly staff.
I love this restaurant. I very rarely eat out, and don't eat at any other Italian restaurants, as I have homemade Italian cooking at home, but the food here is AMAZING. The staff, ambiance, decor, and wine are also excellent, but it's the food that brings me back every time.
Very nice spot at Yonge and Eglinton. Great luncheon menu and well priced. Really enjoyed my sandwich and Caesar salad. It was my first visit and I would definitely go back.
Great Italian food as usual in an inviting atmosphere. Service was attentive but not the usual outstanding that it usually is. I think we hit their busiest time of the night.
Service and ambiance really are impeccable! The food is great too but for the money spent there is other Italian food in Toronto that is tastier. We did really like the risotto and the capricciosa pizza. I would still come back though! :)
Very good, will return
Creative and flavourful daily specials. Excellent fish with a great mussel appetizer.
This is a favourite neighbourhood spot for us over the past several years. Always a winner
Had a great night. Good service
Valentine's Day
Great food and service.
Our server Kevin was wonderful.
Only complaint is how dark it is inside. Only an issue when trying to read the menu.
Excellent everything every time we dine here. Can’t go wrong.
Delicious Italian food, great wine selection. Would recommend for dates or small groups.
Food was not what I remembered it to be and nothing like the website demonstrates. Service was lacking and overall an experience I wouldn't want to share with another again.
Amazing food, a little hectic and on the louder level on a 9pm Saturday night but I suppose that's a good thing. Once we got settled in even though the restaurant was jammed the food came incredibly efficiently no delays (which was what I was expecting with a full house). We loved our server, very friendly and patient. The host at the door was a bit annoying when we arrived, but that was quickly forgotten once we got seated. Avoid the front on busy evenings because people will stand and wait as their tables are prepared. It's a great restaurant, the lighting is excellent for dining and ambience (I dislike overhead lights, which they don't have here thankfully), but do bring your iPhone flashlight to read the menu, then after that you're good to go.
Food was very good, had the Veal chop, cooked perfectly very flavourful, pizza was also good, Thin cripy crust. Had an early reservation on a Saturday so the restaurant was very quite. Did say it was for a birthday but the restaurant did not acknowledge but we opted to skip desert
Overall it was good. Although we were not pleased with the manager attitude initially. He gave us a table in front of the door and asked our friend to take his hat off which I think it was out of place. If there are special dress codes, it should be mentioned on their website or when we call to reserve. To me it looked like everyone else were also dressed casually. Another time we passed by this restaurant and wanted to try it out without reservation, the manager rudely replied that he cannot accommodate a table for two. This is okay in general for a busy dinner hour and a decent restaurant but having some manners goes a long way! Anyway, this was two strikes for the manager of this place and don't be surprised if you see something similar!!
My first time coming to this restaurant and I will definitely be back! Great food, service and ambiance.
First time at the restaurant. Too many good items on the menu. made it difficult to get to my short list. Normally that list is two after review of the menu. This time I had five and final decision very difficult. It was delicious. Only criticism was that tables two small even for two.
This was my second time dining at La Vecchia for lunch. Beautifully cooked and well-seasoned pasta. Attentive service without being overbearing. Lovely dessert. Quite a midday treat.
They won't let u sit down until everyone in your parties are present, they won't separate the bill but we got a very funny and entertaining server which turn my upset mode from arguing with one of the staff into a better night. His wine and food recommendation is perfect.
Great food, great service, great wine.
Appetizers of antipasto and grilled calamares were excellent for sharing before the main dishes. Service is attentive and efficient. Food arrives in a timely manner.
Girlfriend’s get together. Pizzas were great and a nice selection. Service friendly and prompt. Complimentary lemoncello to finish off our meal. Would go back again.
Excellent food and good service.
Host/server was annoyed when someone from our party showed up 10 minutes early, even though many tables not filled. As well, while waiting for the rest of the party we said we were hungry and the server suggested ordering bruschetta, and then later found out we could have had table bread. The food was very delicious, but the server attitude was not appreciated.
Great little gem on Yonge
The risotto was undercooked.
The pizzas and pastas here are great. The sea bass and the veal chops are also excellent. Delicious desserts.
Very good service
Always a good time, the food is always excellent and service is always good. The prices are very reasonable and the ambiance is nice.
We have eaten at this establishment many times and We are never disappointed by the service, food and atmosphere. The people who work at La Vecchia take pride in what they do. The food is mouth watering and the atmaosphere is very casual/romantic. Such a beautiful place.
Excellent cucumber, tomato, and feta salad. Absolutely delish!
Veal for main was also very tasty. Large portions, but could have been hotter.
Service, .... the best!!
Only major complaint was the noise level, very loud on a Sat night.
Might consider putting some noise reduction baffles on the ceilings.
Decor a little tired
Great neighbourhood gem.
Would highly recommend.
Great Food & excellent service from Alex. There is a really nice ambience in this restaurant and you can actually have a conversation without yelling. We'll be back
