The food and welcome are always superb at la Vecchia. It is my 'go to' restaurant for all occasions. That it is in my neighborhood is an added bonus, but I'd gladly drive across town to enjoy Chef Alberto's cooking.
Based on my previous experience, I really looked forward to returning. The service was delightful, but the food was not. I was apologizing to a friend I had invited. Her salad was very good, but my fried eggplant was very mediocre. Her clams linguine did not make her happy, and neither did my "zuppa di pesce" have much flavor, though the scallops were tender.
The clams and shrimp were okay, but the broth was thin and tasteless. Big disappointment.
The restaurant did offer us a free dessert for my birthday. It was the tiramisu, which we shared and enjoyed.
I do not plan to return to La Vecchia, very sad to say. The atmosphere was enjoyable, but the food was not.
Awesome food and view. Our waiter was a bit flakey is the beat way to describe him though.
They were shorthanded and it showed on all fronts. Very noisy. Food was overall disappointing except for the spinach salad.
Amazing food every time. The wait staff is very knowledgeable, especially about the menu and presentation. Love the view! Amazing restaurant every time. I have to say in the top 3 I've been to.
All four of us loved our choices for dinner!
La Vecchia is a longtime local gem with very good to excellent food and generally good service (this visit included glacial speed service, but that's an anomaly), along with a lovely view of the city.
I love this place. It’s my neighborhood, walk to, restaurant. We had a lovely window side table where we could watch the sunset. Service was on point. Food delicious. I had the special which was a yummy cioppino full of mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops and fish. My husband had his regular favorite dish, papardelle with duck. One of things we talked about is how well they have succeeded in reducing the noise level with lots of sound panels. When La Vecchia first opened at this location it had the same problems as many restaurants... too loud for nice dining. Lots of restaurants pay no attention to the sound level. To me, a noisy restaurant disturbs my dining. I want dinner conversation with my companions without having to shout over all the other noise. La Vecchia fixed this problem early on. It is a lovely place for a quiet dinner with a date or a small group. The choice of sound panels was a great one I wish more restaurant would think about. Thanks La Vecchia for not only great food but lovely ambiance too.
We went for Ravioli night. Each of us had different ravioli and they were all quite good. My favorite is the pumpkin. For ravioli, salad and wine at $20, it’s a great deal.
Food was very well presented, unpretentious and wholesome. The ambiance was comfortable and inviting. The service staff was knowledgeable, friendly and prompt.
Excellent, as always. We enjoyed the National Ravioli Day with the fabulous signature house made pillows of comfort they always are.
LaVecchia has always been one of my favorite restaurants. Ravioli special Mondays and bring your own wine Tuesdays are a great value. The food is always amazing, and specials are always different and highlight different flavors. Also very good seasonal menu and fantastic wine list. I would recommend this restaurant for sure.
Excellent mushroom raviolis. Service was very good with attentive staff.
I think the best part was the incredible view of the snowfall outside while we ate. My ravioli was pretty good. My husband had the special, a filet, which was not as good as other places for the price.
Great spot with a beautiful view for date night. It's difficult to decide amongst the menu items - so many wonderful choices. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked and had buttery mashed potatoes on the side, and the carbonara was delicious. Tiramisu is worth saving room for. Service by Julio, Javier and Johnny is the best!
The service was good but my pasta was dry and just ok. I definitely expected better for the price. Maybe just an off night.
Perfect atmosphere - wonderful food - great waiter !
My husband and I went to La Vecchia to celebrate Valentine’s day! We really enjoyed our dinner. The food was very good and the panna cotta dessert was one of the best we have ever tried. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Thank you for a great experience!
Not enough to choose from on the menu
My husband & I enjoyed a Valentines dinner. We were seated in the bar, so our table was a bit cramped. However, that didn't take away from our enjoyment. The mushroom raviolis & sauce were marvelous! The drinks were great and the service was fun! It's always nice to have friendly waitpersons!
Food was awesome ! Service was excellent! This is my favorite place to eat !!
Amazing dinner! Beautiful view, delicious food and great service!
Our waiter was phenomenal! The food was outstanding. And the view was gorgeous, we were at the back table away from the window and it was still beautiful! Sea bass was excellent. We will be back❤️❤️❤️
We arrived and were seated right away. The service was wonderful, everyone had a smile and a good attitude. They have a good wine list by the bottle or glass. The food was good, not spectacular. We will go again.
Delicious lunch at LaVecchia with great service from Nathan. The subtle flavors are spot on. Tender gnocchi and decadent carbonara with the best carpaccio and Caesar salad for starters.
We were three couples, on e couple had never been there. Julio, our servers is always great! The food was good and we had a good time. The only issue this time was, five of us ordered a glass of the special. It was a Barbaraia , the wine was BAD, four os us agreed it was bad! When Julio went to tell the bartender he returned and informed us that the bartender said the wine was not bad and that is how it tastes. I and my friend s are wine drinkers, we know wine. This wine was bad! So this experience nearly ruined our dinner.
The food was delicious as always. Very consistent. jim loved the special- lobster ravioli and I was excited to have gluten free pasta with my salmon.
The Meal was wonderful but the absolute favorite was the Pumpkin Gnocchi...comes in a pea and prosciutto sauce...very good service as well.
La Vecchia is one of the finest restaurants in Reno. I always feel like I have been transported to Italy....the menu is outstanding, the ambiance is elegant but understated and the service is superb. We shared the bruschetta to start and the tiramisu to finish and each ordered a delicious main course. Did I mention the view ? This restaurant is a gem...please enjoy!
A friendly greeting at the door, seated promptly, attentive service, welcoming wait staff, and delicious, creative, fresh, Italian, food. Plus, you cannot beat the view!
My favorite Reno restaurant - the food is excellent as well as the service.
Chicken parmesan was very small, not at all crispy nor did it have traditional marinara sauce; seriously!? Mashed potatoes were cold. Polenta was dry and not creamy. Pizza was flat bread without being indicated on the menu as such. Spaghetti carbonara was very good. Caesar salad not good.
Lively ambience, great food. Alberto is always the most gracious chef/host!!
Excellent Italian cuisine with fresh seasonal choices.
Pumpkin ravioli was hard and dry around the edges and swimming in oil. Eggplant rigatoni and veal was very good.
Took my boyfriend to a nice, cozy Italian place for his birthday! Food was excellent and the price was reasonable too! I would definitely come back again 😋!!
We went over for my husband's birthday, had an excellent meal! Very enjoyable we will definitely go back again.
The crispy salmon with me mashed potatoes is a must have.
Great food but our meals were in same batch as group of 14 at next table. Much confusion textA little slow. Food great. Only a couple of tables have view shown on website.
Beautiful views of downtown Reno. Nice, quaint place. Gets pretty loud when full. Hard to hear. Red pepper soup was really tasty.
