La Vecchia - Reno
A very busy evening, so I do understand why it was not as good as past experiences. Our table was ready for us since I had made reservations on open table, which was great. Waiter was hurried....almost running.....made us somewhat uncomfortable. I will be back as always, but was a bit disappointed this time. You do have the best views in Reno.
Constant smiles on all of the staff. While it was quite loud, the ambience was still pleasant and warm.
Delicious rabbit ravioli and sea bass. Can’t wait to come back again soon!
I’m not a big pasta eater so I usually rely on the daily risotto. The osso buco was delicious, wish it was a staple on the menu. My husband always gets the seafood linguine and really enjoys it.
Food here is very good with interesting specials including Rabbit and duck. The veal is prepared deliciously and though small portions it’s adequate amount.
Birthday celebration. Overall it was a great experience.
Great customer service as they kept a birthday cake that we had brought for the occasion in the kitchen and served it after dinner perfectly.
Menu is excellent and is only outdone by the staff's great customer care.
It has been almost a year since we were here and it has changed drastically. The menu is minimal at best, very limited selection. The quality of the food is poor.
This used to be a place you could go and always expect a good meal, that is no longer the case.
We won't be back, there are too many places in Reno that you can go and get a good meal for a reasonable price.
We ordered the salmon special and the bruschetta as a starter. The bruschetta was okay but not fabulous, our dinner portion was small and there seemed to be no seasoning on it whatsoever. If we are going to have small portions, we would like the flavor to be wonderful. We had to incorporate a lot of the salt shaker in order to make it taste okay. It cost us $150 for a very mediocre meal.
This place never fails us. I almost always order their nightly Risotto specials but have never had a bad meal here. The view of downtown Reno is beautiful. I am especially fond of the pesto on their Bruschetta's. They tell me I could order pasta with this sauce so next time I'm going to try that!
I stopped going to this restaurant as their service went downhill. I went back after a two years and the menu was new and the service was back up to par. Our waiter was super friendly and was happy to be working there. It's such a lovely place with a 5 star view. Glad to be able to write a positive review again!
Service was exceptional, food was amazing. Prices were good value for portion and quality.
Tables a little too close together as we had very loud neighbors.
Highly recommend, it was a wonderful birthday meal
Enjoyed the Monday Night Special of Raviolis, salad Ana dessert. The meals also comes with a glass of wine. We don’t drink but still felt $20 was a great deal. Would have loved to get a window seat for the view. Maybe next time.
Front desk where one checks in was left unmanned for long periods of time. There were two of them, perhaps on a Snapchat or Instagram break...? Bar tenders were super slow for the small crowd gathered. You can tell they’re not very efficient or experienced. The waiter, although very nice and deferential, was not often seen for such a small place. The food was good, not great; and the apps tiny. Order lots if you have more than two people. The tiny Clams and mussels (all eight of them) were good for one person. The main I had, Sea Bass was pretty good. Probably not going back, as the price was not worth the value received. There’s much better out there.
La Vecchia is one of the best of Reno's long-time restaurants. If you're new to town and looking for an authentic Reno dining experience, definitely give La Vecchia a try.
Fish special was delish as was the beet salad!
Very limited menu and it was type on and copied and plan paper. Waiter didn't present the specials with out being asked. Every thing was al la carte, You can do better
Excellent choice for Italian food in Reno. Great ambience and menu. We were seated promptly by a friendly hostess at a table w a great view of Reno. Our server was new so wasn’t completely prepared.. had to ask questions about specials of which he didn’t know the answers. The spinach -sage ravioli was delicious!!! We will Definately return and will plan to take guests!! A very nice dining experience
The food was very tasty, nicely presented and in decent proportion. I was surprised not to see the "Ravioli Monday" option on the menu, but when I asked about it, it was gladly offered. Apparently, you have to ask. It is a wonderful meal: bread, salad, choice of ravioli dish, glass of wine and gelato for dessert, all for $20. The waiter was comfortable and prompt. The view of the city below is delightful.
Service was excellent. Not rushed and not waiting. The seared Romaine with Gorgonzola Sause was outstanding. The Risotto with Duck Breast was the best risotto dish I have ever had.
The dinning experience could not have been better.
I took my wife and daughter to La Vecchia's for the first time and they loved it! The staff was friendly, the view of downtown Reno was beautiful and our meal was outstanding. Great place for family dinner, date night or business meeting.
We will be coming back very soon!
My wife and I had dinner with my coworkers from New Orleans and Sydney Australia. We dined on the patio on a very lovely Sunday night. Everyone was very impressed with the food and the ambiance and I was very proud that we have a restaurant in Reno that can impress folks that come from areas known for their culinary attractions.
Should have gone to Olive Garden.
This place is just going through the motions. No passion. Caesar salad was so dry that one could barely tell there was Caesar dressing. Waiter never checked back, so no opportunity to ask for additional dressing.
Carbonara had the right texture and richness, but someone in the kitchen is afraid of garlic. The panchetta, what little there was, had not been trimmed and was largely fatty blobs.
Just simple things for a chef that cares about food going out the kitchen door.
As usual, La Vecchia did not disappoint. Waiter, Jesse, really worked with us to make the evening go smoothly at out pace.
The ravioli with spinach and ricotto cheese and brown butter and sage was outstanding.
Always a winner Everytime, we're in Reno. Quality Italian food and the view can't be beat. We will definitely be back!
Beautiful evening on the patio with great friends and great food.
Great restaurant for a casual Saturday night dinner with friends. The fish and pasta specials were delicious, as were the tiramisu and gelatos for dessert. Julio takes excellent care of us and contributed to a fun evening for all of us.
Great location, view of Reno! Service and food was exceptional
Went in for a birthday celebration, it was quite the fair experience. When we arrived, we we're promptly seated. When the food came around, we notice there was a piece of glass in the complimentary bread they served us. We gave them the benefit of the doubt even though we found the piece of glass made us feel as if their quality assurance must of been a honest mistake. Next, we proceeded in ordering our food. The flavors of the pasta themselves we're rather bland and not flavorful. After the waiter asked us how the food tasted, we then proceeded in sharing our honest opinion. The waiter's response was that the food was being prepared by a lot of newbies in the kitchen and they we're still learning the ropes. It's a shame that they we're learning the ropes at our expense, however I can say that the overlooking view of Reno at night was the best!
We got a table outside on the patio with the great view. Food and service were great. We were in the mood to go slow and enjoy the experience and we were not rushed at all. Our server was great as well.
The food and welcome are always outstanding at La Vecchia. There is a nice selection of tasty, affordable wines as well. I shall return.
We sat by the window with a beautiful view of down town. Wait staff was very attentive. Food was delicious. Lots of people outside on the patio, so we almost had the inside completely to ourselves. It was a birthday celebration & was very special to us! Hot bread was amazing! And tiramisu was delicious too!
Never disappoints. I had the gnocchi and added Italian sausage. Both were obviously made fresh. Wine selection is great as well.
Excellent food. Twice in one week, consistent.
We went on Fathers Day . Service was excellent. My husband ordered the Salmon with Polenta and I ordered the Chef’s special in Ravioli - it was saffron based sauce and lobster filled. Finished the dinner with Tiramisu which we shared. The whole meal was absolutely delicious.
This was our first (and Last) visit to La Vecchia at the Skyline location. There was a lack of ambiance, the menu was paper (and dirty) the service was very slow, especially since we were the first customers seated. The server did not tell us all the specials for the evening (we overheard another server tell the table next to ours other specials. The veal was chewy. Just did not care for the experience.
Perhaps I ordered the wrong dish which was Clams with noodles. Too salty and lots of salty water mixed with the noddles.
Dinner with son and girlfriend.
Great staff, very nice setting, food good.
Food was Outstanding!
