La Trattoria Old Town Ratings and Reviews
It was our last night in Key West (from Denver, CO) and it turned out to be a great decision to dine at La Trattoria Old Town. Service was excellent (and good looking), and my wife and I loved our food. The salmon and mushroom sauce was incredible, and the linguini con pollo alla parmigiana was equally as great. I overdid it in the bread & oil with grated parmigiana, vinegar and pepper...oh yeeesss. Great time!
We enjoyed our meal there. The food was very good. You are packed in the place so you hear the whole conversation of the people next to you. Lucky for us, we had something in common and struck up a conversation but I can see how that could annoy people. It took quite a long time for our initial order to be taken but once that happened things seem to speed up. I would recommend the place for the food but know what you are walking into.
One of our favorite Key West restaurants. Having grown up in a traditional Italian household, I can say that this it authentic Italian food of high quality. The service is impeccable, the food delicious, go for the tieramassou for dessert. Oh, and right now $5 martinis from 530 to 7 every day. You can't go wrong. Highly recommended.
Excellent value, enjoyed the grouper special. It was perfectly prepared. Party of 4 and we all raved over our entrees. Waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and friendly. He made our dining experience very enjoyable. Quiet round table in the corner was a perfect setting.
Greasy food. The best part was the bread. Because we didn't order wine, tables who were sat down a half hour after us, got their food first. We waited over an hour for two dinners. Not worth the time and the food was very disappointing. Do not recommend! We went to Benihana the following night. Talk about night and day quality, service and value. They cooked for an entire table of eight in less time and everything was wonderful. Look elsewhere for a special occasion, this isn't the place.
We were advised upon calling to definitely make a reservation. Upon arrival for our 6:30 reservation, the cafe was almost empty. We were given a tiny window seat table. A nice female server took our orders--then disappeared. We didn't see her again until she brought our bill. We had to ask the girl at the front door for drink refills, we had to flag down the bread server for more bread, and overall just BAD service. I asked our server when she brought our bill where she had been during our whole meal and she remarked they were short on servers. I remarked that the cafe seemed slow and she said "this is slow season and we aren't busy during the summer. " PUZZLING! Need reservations? No / good service during slow season? No. Impressed with this cafe? No. Good food? At most average. A notch below Olive Garden and ten notices more expensive.
