Always a pleasure to be in Vail and dine at LaTour! Consistently great meals.
La Tour never disappoints. The food and service are always first class.
Wonderful service. Very friendly. Excellent food. Great wine list.
Staff seemed a bit checked out - waitress not super friendly and they actually brought our entrees out before our appetizers - which meant our food probably went under a food lamp. Food was really good - but given the service I can say I will go back.
Just wished that the fireplace that we were sitting in front of was in working order. It was a little chilly, we were by the front door. Otherwise, everything was great!
We were quite surprised by a 3 percent undisclosed surcharge added to bill on top of tax. Waiter said that Matsuhisa and Sweet Basil were doing it as well. Not true! Very disappointed about deception. Food was good.
The staff at La Tour went out of the way to make my wife’s birthday dinner special. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was romantic, and the staff was attentive. Would recommend to anybody looking for a great night out in Vail
They called and asked us if we could change our reservation time to 7:45 from our 7:30pm rez. We said ok. We got there and the table was not ready. They said it would just be a minute while they reset it so we had a drink in the bar while we waited. Didn’t come to seat us until 8pm and then started to take us to a completely different table in a different room with loud kids, as we watched them seat someone else at the table they had pointed to as ours when we arrived. We asked to be seated in the room they had originally pointed to so they pulled a 4 top apart (that had been sitting empty since we arrived at 7:45) and sat us there. The shrimp cocktail was shrimp that looked like it came from City Market. Pork chop was good, salmon was ok, nothing special. It was served over brussel sprouts which we didn’t realize and had ordered a side of Brussels sprouts. Would have been helpful if the server had mentioned that one of us was getting brussel sprouts with our dinner and we would have ordered a different vegetable as a a la carte side.
Poor service , we waited more than 30 min between our entree and main course.
Food without taste and flavor. Meet undercooked
It wasn’t my first time at La Tour but it was certainly my last.
Another excellent dinner at La Tour. Started with tasty craft cocktails one with bourbon and another with vodka and grapefruit. The french based restaurant does excellent work with the food presentation and taste. Our group had black cod, lamb and a steak and all were excellent. Our server was excellent as was the bar tender. Higlhy recommend.
Extremely loud due to boisterous and probably drunk table neighbors. Poor attention from waitress.
Have always loved this restaurant, but had bad recent visit. Waitress should work in truck stop, not fine dining restaurant. Expensive 1/2 lb. order of crab legs, far less than 1/2 lb. Very loud, crowded, not relaxing. Hope this can be corrected.
Service was great! Quintessa chardonnay was yum! Food was amazing. We were a party of 5 and had to pre-teens with us. They loved the kids menu.
Been going to la tour for as long as I can remember and the food is still high quality. I have to say it seems to have deteriorated a little hence no five stars. On the evening we were there the noise levels were very high. It has always been a noisy restaurant due to the high ceilings and hard surfaces but with a few large tables this night was particularly bad. Other reviewers have commented on the 3% surcharge to cover increased wages and overheads. I cannot for the life of me understand what is going through the owners mind. It is crass, greedy and a nonsense. Like any other business either reduce overhead or put up the prices.
NIce table by the window, no noise, very tasty food. We found a piece of lobster shell inside one of the madeleines we ordered for dessert and, of course, were not charged for it.
Service was good, not great. The breaded chicken was tasteless, as were the mashed potatoes and asparagus. The tuna appetizer was great. It's like someone is trying to follow a recipe in the kitchen and something is missing. For the price, it was a disappointing dinner.
They need professional servers- service very average .
Paying NYC/ Chicago prices we deserve better service
We enjoyed the variety of menu selections including Cod and Dover Sole, also a prime rib selection and a Paella with Vermicelli instead of rice (Mussels, Clams, Shrimp and lobster). Loved it!
Service was outstanding for our visit.
Fabulous food with unique flavors and interesting combinations
Great wines , cool bar , nice art and good service —- our favorite meal in Vail .
Waitress was inattentive.
The Black Cod in the Chef’s choice menu was excellent and look forward to returning to the restaurant during our next visit to Vail as our most favorite restaurant in Vail!
Consistently good on each Vail visit we make. Did miss the octopus no longer on the menu - it was the best ever.
The restaurant is extremely noisy. Hard to hear each other speak. The food was average in terms of quality and preparation. The hostess, waitress etc could not have been nicer
Everything great. Excellent service.
Probably the most bizarre dining experience I’ve had in years. It was our last night in vail on a family ski trip. Previous meals at white bison, sweet basil, la botegga etc all good and this promised similar - or so we thought.
The service was appalling - so much so I though we must be being Punked! Water glasses not refilled, per dinner cocktails delayed, wine order forgotten and then not poured to be tasted. We were also asked to remind the wait staff what the wine was. Main course served without silverware - - or plates... sauces for the steak forgotten - it just kept on going.
When I said is there something I’m missing here - are we supposed to eat with our hands etc we were told “sorry we are having a bad night.” Unbelievable - I’ve never seen a front of house so amateur.
The restaurants response to all this? A slightly better port with the cheese “on them”. For a meal costing $570 for a party of 4., insulting.
The food however was EXCELLENT - which I told the chef - the big saving grace. .
Bottom line - chef - you should move to a better restaurant where the Front of house deserves you.
We love La Tour. Tonight,as usual, we dined well but the service was just “off”. No matter, we still recommend them.
Excellent service ... never rushed! Food is on point. Started with avocado toast- amazing! Lamb, 20 oz sirloin and pumpkin ravioli - all delicious! Creme brûlée was the perfect ending. Best dinner in years.
We bought a red wine which came from cellar ice cold. The sommelier did say it was cold and I did say okay but did not realize how cold until he poured it. As an expert he should have advised against buying/opening it. Despite decanting it never warmed up. My wife had to buy a glass of something else for the appetizers and never did want this pricey wine. After a complaint they neither comp’ed her glass of wine nor the bottle. The menu had a 6 oz steak with sides as a menu item. They also sold the same steak as a 12 oz but you had to buy your sides separately. They charge you for bread. This place has middle of the road food, and are obviously trying to nickel and dime you to death. We have come to Vail regularly for years, as do our friends. We will advise they avoid this place since there are much better options. Unless this place turns things around, I suspect they will soon be a dinosaur.
On a guy's ski trip. Went for a big night to cap 4 days of skiing. We did it up big there with outstanding ambiance, food, drinks and service. Will go again.
We always enjoy La Tour. The setting is comfortable and interesting with some nice views of the mountains. The menu is always interesting with a strong French influence (foie gras, escargots, onion soup) that is delicious. The wine list is strong. The service is excellent.
The food and service were terrific!
The best appetizer ever were the BBQ oysters!!!!!
READ THIS ALL THE WAY THROUGH BECAUSE IT REALLY HAPPENED. Our reservations were at 7:30. We arrived at 7:15, checked in with the hostess and sat at the bar to have a glass of wine while we waited for our table. The whole place seemed to be in a chaotic state. The bartenders where overwhelmed with making drinks and kind of grumpy. After much prompting and checking back in to see how our reservation was coming along - we finally got seated at 8:30. While at the bar had a conversation with another couple who had reservations through OT who had been waiting for over an hour. Everyone was waiting for something including in the dining room. They had all sorts of excuses. Very unprofessional. We ordered an appetizer, salad and our entrees around 8:40. Nothing... no food and we had to pour our own wine. We finally put some cash on the table to pay for our wine and left around 9:10. (My husband and I are from Denver and dine in some of the finest restaurants in the US and abroad).
The food is excellent. However, we had to wait over an hour for our table after the time of our reservation and there was hardly even an apology from the hostess. If only the service matched the food, La Tour would be amazing!
The restaurant was not that busy when we were seated but as it filled, it became so loud you couldn’t hear yourself think. Our waiter seemed to forget about us and seemed overwhelmed. The food however was outstanding.
We had a great meal here and will return when back in the area on vacation. Great drinks as well.
Whatever you do, get the French onion soup. I can't stop talking about it.
Probably the top place to dine in Vail!!
Food delicious, service very mediocre. The server poured way too much wine into 4 glasses - all gone in 4 pours! Should be better trained for the prices at this restaurant.
