Wonderful birthday dinner in a special little hut! Great service, excellent food. Highly recommend
Food is occasionally OK - the foie gras was a slab of butter with some foie gras smell; the steak ordered as medium came in as well done and not too tasty. Very overpriced because of the location in Vail village.
We ate in the front area which is not as cozy "or formalist" as in the back. It felt a little like we were placed in an overflow area. Nevertheless, we continue to support La Tour and the overall experience was just fine.
Perfect for celebrating my Mother's Day with family! As always, the best restaurant to celebrate anything here in the Vail Valley. Lovely to be in a crystal castle. Bellini, French Onion Soup, Oysters and superb service. La Tour is an exceptional institution; still here 30+ years and still perfect in every way. Even the bathroom has fine amenities, a high-end candle and is superbly clean. Everything is 5+ Star at La Tour.
As always, La Tour is the finest restaurant in Vail. I always host my important business dinners and luminary friends at La Tour, addition of Crystal Cabins a lovely plus. Thank you.
This was not a fancy restaurant. It was overpriced, we had 3 different waiters. Our food sat under the hot plate for a very long time. We over cook, but had good favor. Wait staff was very trashy. Would not recommend, go to the other French restaurant in vail.
We love La Tour!! It's a favorite and we had such a great time!! Loved our waiter too!
I have lived in The Valley for almost 10 years and never dined here! Wow! This place is incredible. We came for my birthday and were treated like royalty by Caroline and Jeff! The food, the ambiance and the service were all EXCEPTIONAL. We will be back for sure!
Thank you for a nice night. The food was great and we enjoyed our evening there.
Fabulous server and meal. Been there before and it never fails to be excellent. Thanks.
Overall La Tour is awesome. Appetizers, Dover Sole, Desert were great. Duck Breast ok but not spectacular in taste or presentation.
Nice ambience and great service. Food was good but not excellent.
Excellent food & service. Always enjoyed your restaurant over the years.
We are longtime locals .
La Tour is a Vail classic. The food does not disappoint and it’s truly delicious. The main character for your visit will be the FOOD... it truly has the best dishes in Vail Village and they are well presented. Compared to other restaurants, the ambiance (light, decor, etc.) Is not the best... but I don’t think they are trying to be (if you want a perfectly ironed tablecloth go somewhere else)... if you want amazing food, go to La Tour! Jean-Michel (chef) is doing an amazing job. The only thing that could improve: service... it’s not terrible but it’s not great... but hey, the food will be delicious! I have visited this place for years as a kid and now as an adult... it’s Delicious!!!
Was delightful. Excellent oysters! Great wine selection
Great food that was worth the money.
The duck on Brussel sprout leaves was beautifully presented and served medium rare. The escargot were delicately flavored, the sauce a bit creamy and not overwhelmed with garlic. I would have liked more tarragon but I will definitely have them again--a new favorite. Do not miss the lobster mashed potatoes, full of lobster and hard to describe. Do see for yourself. We finished with the chocolate mousse cake which was not at all cakelike but more of a chocolate bomb paired with the best pistachio ice cream I've ever had. The quality, variety, and price have made this my Vail go to.
Fabulous food and great service.
Cocktail was made with dirty ice, was bitter and unpleasant.
Potatoes in entree weren’t cooked all the way through.
Very poor value and execution for how expensive the meal was.
Absolutely wonderful top to bottom
We started with the fresh baked La Brea bread and a shared artesian greens and crusted goat cheese salad. My wife had the pan roasted salmon entre and I had the seared duck breast. Both were outstanding. We saved enough room to share the dessert trio. The dinner is still fresh in my mind 3 days later because we enjoyed the leftovers last night.
Maxwell waited on us; he was knowledgeable and very honest about various dishes. I dislike when I go to restaurants, ask for feedback about items on the menu and get the bland answer that everything is good.
We had the BBQ oysters, the salad with panko crusted goat cheese, the halibut, lobster mashed potatoes, a steak and the creme brûlée.
Everything tasted great. Prices are pretty high for the portion sizes, but that’s to be expected in Vail.
Definitely worth a try.
The current menu covers all the bases. There were several creative fish entrees (a bonus for those of us who prefer not to eat meat). The sommelier gets five stars. We ordered a bottle of wine that wasn't quite what we were looking for. She directed us to a choice that was perfect. Great service all around.
Sommelier was given a nice glass of french burgundy and never returned to table to tell us thank you or just give her opinion of the wine
The only thing we did not like was that the service people did not allowed us to dine in one of the tables out side even though very few were been used.
We consider that a bad service
Great food, great place!! Loved it all
We had average experiences at this restaurant before but booked it again because nothing else was available. I remember the wine list was good — but the Napa cabs availability shrunk substantially now. The sommelier said that they are now concentrating on French wines. The foies gras was good, but came with a lot of lentils. The onion soup was very different and tasted very differently from the classic recipe. It was not bad but I didn’t recognize the taste. The duck breast was very fatty and I didn’t like it at all. The service was nice.
Fantastic in every way.
Fantastic modern twist to French food. Excellent service and flavors. We had the trumpet and halibut dish, and both were fantastic. The 10th Mountain chocolate dessert was great. I would come back, and highly recommend.
The escargot was well flavored and not too obsessed with garlic, which is a nice change. The wine was, obviously, delicious and the cocktails sufficiently diverse and exciting. I got the fried chicken (I do not recall the French name for it, I’m not ashamed!) and while it was crispy, I’m not entirely sure the lemon flavor really goes, and the chicken itself felt a bit tough on the inside. Well cooked enough for me to finish the whole plate, to be entirely fair, I just wish I had tried a different entree, they all looked amazing. The wait staff was tremendous.
Awesome! One of our favorites! We go here every time we are in Vail.
Very delicious meal and great atmosphere
Had a great experience the food was fantastic and the staff was off the charts. Definitely will come back again
Food prep, taste and presentation is the best in the Valley. Service was amazing. Restaurant is a bit beat up due to age and needs a refresh sometime soon.
Food was disappointing - not hot and lacked flavor.
La /tour continues to be one fo the best French Restaunts in Vail Valley. Even during this COVID time the ambiance and service felt intimate. The food was superb, but not spectacular. The French Onion Soup with short rib pieces was excellent.I really liked the Maytaki mushrooms with Black truffles and brussels sprout leaves. My friend across the table had the halibut. It was okay, but not spectacular. I recommend La Tour for all who enjoy French traditional dishes.
We had friends in town last minute .. booked same day reservation. They loved the extensive wine list and signature cocktails. Oysters were super fresh and miso halibut was to die for!! Can’t wait to go back!!
