NIce table by the window, no noise, very tasty food. We found a piece of lobster shell inside one of the madeleines we ordered for dessert and, of course, were not charged for it.
Service was good, not great. The breaded chicken was tasteless, as were the mashed potatoes and asparagus. The tuna appetizer was great. It's like someone is trying to follow a recipe in the kitchen and something is missing. For the price, it was a disappointing dinner.
We enjoyed the variety of menu selections including Cod and Dover Sole, also a prime rib selection and a Paella with Vermicelli instead of rice (Mussels, Clams, Shrimp and lobster). Loved it!
Service was outstanding for our visit.
Fabulous food with unique flavors and interesting combinations
Great wines , cool bar , nice art and good service —- our favorite meal in Vail .
Waitress was inattentive.
The Black Cod in the Chef’s choice menu was excellent and look forward to returning to the restaurant during our next visit to Vail as our most favorite restaurant in Vail!
The restaurant is extremely noisy. Hard to hear each other speak. The food was average in terms of quality and preparation. The hostess, waitress etc could not have been nicer
Everything great. Excellent service.
Probably the most bizarre dining experience I’ve had in years. It was our last night in vail on a family ski trip. Previous meals at white bison, sweet basil, la botegga etc all good and this promised similar - or so we thought.
The service was appalling - so much so I though we must be being Punked! Water glasses not refilled, per dinner cocktails delayed, wine order forgotten and then not poured to be tasted. We were also asked to remind the wait staff what the wine was. Main course served without silverware - - or plates... sauces for the steak forgotten - it just kept on going.
When I said is there something I’m missing here - are we supposed to eat with our hands etc we were told “sorry we are having a bad night.” Unbelievable - I’ve never seen a front of house so amateur.
The restaurants response to all this? A slightly better port with the cheese “on them”. For a meal costing $570 for a party of 4., insulting.
The food however was EXCELLENT - which I told the chef - the big saving grace. .
Bottom line - chef - you should move to a better restaurant where the Front of house deserves you.
We love La Tour. Tonight,as usual, we dined well but the service was just “off”. No matter, we still recommend them.
Excellent service ... never rushed! Food is on point. Started with avocado toast- amazing! Lamb, 20 oz sirloin and pumpkin ravioli - all delicious! Creme brûlée was the perfect ending. Best dinner in years.
We bought a red wine which came from cellar ice cold. The sommelier did say it was cold and I did say okay but did not realize how cold until he poured it. As an expert he should have advised against buying/opening it. Despite decanting it never warmed up. My wife had to buy a glass of something else for the appetizers and never did want this pricey wine. After a complaint they neither comp’ed her glass of wine nor the bottle. The menu had a 6 oz steak with sides as a menu item. They also sold the same steak as a 12 oz but you had to buy your sides separately. They charge you for bread. This place has middle of the road food, and are obviously trying to nickel and dime you to death. We have come to Vail regularly for years, as do our friends. We will advise they avoid this place since there are much better options. Unless this place turns things around, I suspect they will soon be a dinosaur.
On a guy's ski trip. Went for a big night to cap 4 days of skiing. We did it up big there with outstanding ambiance, food, drinks and service. Will go again.
We always enjoy La Tour. The setting is comfortable and interesting with some nice views of the mountains. The menu is always interesting with a strong French influence (foie gras, escargots, onion soup) that is delicious. The wine list is strong. The service is excellent.
The food and service were terrific!
The best appetizer ever were the BBQ oysters!!!!!
READ THIS ALL THE WAY THROUGH BECAUSE IT REALLY HAPPENED. Our reservations were at 7:30. We arrived at 7:15, checked in with the hostess and sat at the bar to have a glass of wine while we waited for our table. The whole place seemed to be in a chaotic state. The bartenders where overwhelmed with making drinks and kind of grumpy. After much prompting and checking back in to see how our reservation was coming along - we finally got seated at 8:30. While at the bar had a conversation with another couple who had reservations through OT who had been waiting for over an hour. Everyone was waiting for something including in the dining room. They had all sorts of excuses. Very unprofessional. We ordered an appetizer, salad and our entrees around 8:40. Nothing... no food and we had to pour our own wine. We finally put some cash on the table to pay for our wine and left around 9:10. (My husband and I are from Denver and dine in some of the finest restaurants in the US and abroad).
The food is excellent. However, we had to wait over an hour for our table after the time of our reservation and there was hardly even an apology from the hostess. If only the service matched the food, La Tour would be amazing!
The restaurant was not that busy when we were seated but as it filled, it became so loud you couldn’t hear yourself think. Our waiter seemed to forget about us and seemed overwhelmed. The food however was outstanding.
We had a great meal here and will return when back in the area on vacation. Great drinks as well.
Whatever you do, get the French onion soup. I can't stop talking about it.
Probably the top place to dine in Vail!!
Food delicious, service very mediocre. The server poured way too much wine into 4 glasses - all gone in 4 pours! Should be better trained for the prices at this restaurant.
Excellent dinner! Everything was superb. Our waiter was so helpful and each of us loved what we ordered. Be sure to save room for dessert.
Not worth the expense relative to other Vail restaurants. We’ve dined extensively throughout Vail and while LaTour has good food, it’s just not worth the expense. Apes in the bar is amazing and you get a great menu, but dinner is heavy and very expensive. Comparatively to other restaurants within walking distance, the meal is overpriced for the quality. Best advice would be to drop by at happy hour then seek dinner elsewhere.
Siento que al llegar far le hace falta ser un poco más acogedor. El servicio muy bueno
Food was delicious! Drinks were great and service was great! My husband and I will come again when we are in Vail on our next vacation!
Daughter 17 birthday
I liked everything .... but found the 3% surcharge such an annoyance I left a lower tip than normal . The owners should not do this surcharge . It’s not good for the wait staff . Raise the prices 3% from their already lofty levels and don’t tell us .
Best meal I’ve ever had in Vail. Very stays food, excellent service, which isn’t automatic at Vail and great wine selections. We’ve been coming to Vail for many years and for some reason we missed this gem!
We have not been at LaTour for many years and were disappointed that the formal setting had changed to a Bistro type setup. The food was marginal. I would not have recognizes the Dover Sole I ordered as such, the way it was prepared. My dinner companion was not happy with his order either.
Had to wait 29 mins past our reservation. We were sat at a table that was in the middle of the walk way and we asked to move and server was rude. They were out an appetizer at 8 pm. My guest ordered a $55. Entree Dover sole and it was terrible.
The restaurant is always noisy in an excessive way in some cases. Food is really good and our server was great. We come here every time we visit Vail and would not miss it. Very convenient in town and you should make reservations in advance. It was our anniversary trip and our waiter brought us a creme brûlée with a sparkler gratis! Always a treat and the menu is changed periodically to keep things interesting.
The cod was the best that i had ever tasted. Recommend
Service was off. We have been dining at La Tour for years. We were never offered a wine list, water glasses empty numerous times throughout dinner, spoons and seafood forks not provided until after paella served, etc. The 3% surcharge for service resulted in worse service. Food was ok but not even close to prior dining at La Tour. Watched servers serve dishes from the right side all night. Sweet Basil and Splendido were far superior in food and service. Disappointing dinner
Excepcional , delicioso y el servicio de lo mejor ... tomamos el especial de Valentín days por recomendación de any ... cosas muy nuevas para nosotros
Night out with friends. We have never been disappointed here.
Found several nice wine selections.
Fine variety in the menu. Everyone was happy.
noisy but many places in Vail are too.
Indulged in desserts. Also a big hit.
One of our favorites for special occasions.
Bartender didn’t know what he was doing. Made 2 cocktails that didn’t match what we ordered. Server confused delivering food. Food was good, but not as good as others in Vail at the same price level.
Wonderful staff. Excellent service.
My wife and I had a memorable evening.
Hostess was very friendly and professional.
Love to come back next visit to Vail.
Well made drinks. Awesome appetizers.
Italy meets France dinner with wine pairing was magnificent! From the amuse bouche trio, through multiple courses ending with almond biscotti, vanilla madeline & house-made limoncella, was perfect.
Our server Anna, and sommelier, Kai, were attentive, knowledgable, and friendly.
We love La Tour - and can't wait to go back!
