La Toscana Ristorante
Love this restaurant and the family that owns it. Great staff. We were there on Friday night. It was packed and the noise level in the dining area was louder than I would have liked. However, the food and dining experience was still great!
Our waiter, Joe, was very cocky and when we asked where the balsamic glaze was on top of the tomatoes and bruschetta and soft burata cheese, first he said it had slipped to the bottom, but when we stirred it up to look, it was not there, but he said it was there. We called him over later to bring us some on the side so we could put it on the tomatoes as it is what makes this dish so wonderful as a shared appetizer. He came back with a bowl of Balsamic vinegar, not the glaze, which is thick and sticky. We told him no, this is not what we asked for, the glaze is not watery at all. Then he left and never came back until check time. It took two requests for him to wipe off the oil and butter from the table so we could put down the dessert menus and enjoy the rest of our meal. After we had paid he came over and said, by the way, the glaze tonight was watery. It was total BS! He kind of ruined our lovely dinner. If he doesn't know what he is serving or how a dish is supposed to look, he should ask or be trained before lying to customers because he was unclear on the components and didn't want to deal with it!
Excellent food and ambiance. Our waitress, Linda, was outstanding.
We had a wonderful time at our birthday celebration for my mom. The servers were professional and courteous and took a few photos for us. The food was delicious. Thank you!
We were a group of 5 adults and 2 kids. For appetizers, we had Frito Misto and Arancini. The Frito Misto was OK but the Arancini was really good. We had the Arugula/goat cheese salad which was very good. Everyone had one of the pastas, they were all excellent. Portion size was large, and we all took home leftovers. We had a great bottle of super Tuscan. The ambiance was a very nice blend of Tuscan influence (pictures of Lucca(?) on the wall) with family style casualness. The service was excellent - I even got a refill of my wine that I spilled half of trying to catch one of the kids falling cups. Definitely will be back to try more things!
It was so noisy we could hardly talk to each other unless we yelled to one another.
This restaurant has a terrific feel--a bit of an upscale, neighborhood place both in the bar and the restaurant area. It started not so well with beef carpaccio that had a ton of arugula and very little beef. But, after that, all the appetizers and entrees were very good. The service was professional and friendly.
Great food and service we go there for years for us it's great I recommend this restaurant
We celebrated an early Valentine's day dinner together. Great service from our waiter! Food was fabulous.
Very reasonably priced, all four courses were quite tasty with a great bottle of red wine.
Service was attentive, beverages refilled. Food brought in timely manner and was hot. Restaurant was full at lunch and noisier than I would have preferred.
Have loved this place for a long time, and their recent remodel has made it even more enjoyable. Great food and staff; fun bar!
My fave Italian restaurant in Marin...the carbonara and orecchiette are outstanding!
Beautiful interior, wide variety of menu items to select from, good meal portions, flexible with requests, attentive wait staff. The bar is welcoming and friendly for a comfortable area in waiting for friends. Everyone from the front to the bus boys were very kind and genuine.
The dining room carries noise like crazy. Their were several large groups around us, and it’s great that they were having fun, but it was too much for others. The service was reasonable and food OK, but next time we want Italian cuisine, will find other options.
Always a great meal, with wonderful service and a warm atmosphere. Make this restaurant one of your favorites!
The food was good but the noise level was unbearable - could not have a conversation with our friends without yelling and then missed a lot. Service was excellent.
We had a wonderful dining experience with superb service delivered by our server Joe.
The pescatore, putanesca spaghetti and chicken parmigiana were delicious with the super tuscan wine.
Some food great some just ok. Service is great and the atmosphere is nice, cozy, warm and intimate if need be. Overall very nice experience
Food was outstanding
Service was excellent
Had a 6:30 reservation took a little while to actually get seated
It was a nice birthday celebration.
Loved it! Great service, food. The s'mores sunday was spectacular.
Great selection, and great service. Love the place!
Good food, a longstanding neighborhood favorite. Loved my eggplant meal, appropriate to share. Very noisy & hopping bar. Fortunately we had a table for dinner near the back so we could converse (2 people with hearing impairment), but very noisy about the time we left.
Always a good meal. The house salad is now only a small plate of lettuce with a few tomatoes, one pepper, and one olive. I remember when the house salad was the best around. Definitely not worth the $8 charge!!
Nice that corkage is still reasonable.
VERY LOUD MAKES IT HARD TO COMUNICATE WIT YOUR GUESTS
We got to LaToscana a couple of times a month, and we truly enjoy it. The food is always excellent, they make a fantastic Negroni, and the service is warm and attentive. Also, the wine list is very good.
We look forward to our next dinner at La Toscana.
Anniversary dinner on a very rainy night. Parking was very full, street as well as around the restaurant at 6p.m. Dinner was very good, Sergio R. took good care of our table. Seafood Risotto and Lasagne, with arugula salad were our dinner choices, and delicious. Dry Creek Vineyard Zinfandel complimented the meal. The Lasagne had an incredible sauce and the whole entre was devoured. The Risotto was really good and really filling, half of the plate was eaten, with half take home and eaten the next day (incredible). We celebrated by dessert choice of lemon blueberry (confit) tiramisu. I would order the regular tiramisu next time. We would like to try more of the menu so will hope to return. I liked the look of the bar area, 3 tvs with sports, and tables and chairs to eat around a fairly large bar area. And the website mentions a happy hour that sounded good.
Most of us had not been had a meal at La Toscana. We were impressed with the service, food , and atmosphere. We will be back many times!
Has been consistently tasty with terrific service. Appreciate the wait staff's knowledge of the menu and recommendations for food allergies/sensitivities.
Wonderful service by all the servers. Great food. The only reason I gave the food 4 stars was because of the chilies in my Seafood Risotto. I would have left them out if I had read the menu more carefully. Thanks again for a great night out!
La Toscana is our "go-to" place, particularly for the evenings when we are attending events at the Civic Center. The staff is well accustomed to seeing that diners are out in enough time to attend the events. Food is great. Service friendly and efficient. We have been dining here for many years and always enjoy it. Only improvement I would suggest is to somehow be able to reduce the noise level.
Our group of 15 used the private room. It was terrific.
New Years Eve dinner menu very nice, excellent service, great crowd and eneergy.
Osso Bucco is absolutely delicious! We had an early New Year's Eve dinner and it was festive and fun with amazing food and fantastic service.
Thank you for a delightful evening! The food and cocktails and wine was outstanding! We would love to come back next year on New Years Eve!
We did not feel rushed and enjoyed every bite!
I also enjoyed the reminders, countdown. Thank you for taking the time to do that.
The Thornton family💕🥂
Food and service were excellent. No waiting. Friendly server.
We found La Toscana when looking for somewhere that served Cacio y Pepe, a favorite pasta dish. We've enjoyed this dish in many restaurants around the world and occasionally try making it at home. Unfortunately, we can not recommend the version we were served on our first visit to La Toscana. It wasn't completely bland but there was little ground black peper and tangy cheese that make this dish so delightful. We were very disapointed. That said, the Caesar Salad and Pappardelle al Cinghiale were excellent, the service was friendly and efficient, and the place was full of people enjoying their dinners. The house red wine on tap was also quite acceptable. We would not go back for the Cacio y Pepe, but might like to try more of the menu someday.
The staff at La Toscana are friendly, attentive and helpful. Food is delicious.
Delicious dinner with extremely attentive, competent, professional service. Able to cater to a diet with allergies.
