Decided on the tasting menu with wine pairing. Excellent choice. Each presentation was perfectly paired with a great wine. Portions were above expected. Wine was presented with an explanation of why and what is it was.

We had an excellent time! My husband has a tree nut allergy and they were so good about making suggestions and figuring out substitutions. It was my birthday dinner and they made me feel so special throughout the night - even presenting me with a copy of the menu signed by the chef as we had our dessert. I was thoroughly impressed with the entire experience.

My wife and I are local to Marin County but not Napa, so we planned a special trip to Napa Valley for an afternoon and evening. As part of the experience, I chose La Toque for dinner based on the recommendation in a recent issue of Wine Spectator.

Highlights for the evening were the wine pairings and the Sommelier. The food was predictably great, and reasonably unique but it was the wine that stood out - the pairings were creative, and covered a broad range of wine - countries (not just US regions and definitely NOT just Napa), grape varietals and winemaking. The Somm was really good - VERY knowledgeable and good fun - took the time to share his personal and professional insights on the wine, the regions, and winemaking technique. I'd add - I'm an adventurous wine drinker, always searching for something new, or unique to pair with food. So it's unusual for me to find a pairing menu terribly adventurous. This one was more adventurous than not - and that's a good thing.

The 4 or 5 course prix fixe menu was plenty for us (as opposed to the full Chef's Tasting Menu). As usual, my wife and I chose different items from each course, and mixed/matched as we went. Great way to get a broader feel for the food, and the wine pairings. FYI - the staff raved about a couple items that I didn't love as much as they did - probably just personal taste, but worth noting.

One last note on customer service - these guys nailed it overall, and really won me over when I almost walked out without my top hat. The maitre d' had checked it at the beginning of the evening. Several of the staff intercepted me on the way out to remind me of my hat, and fetch it. I really love this level of attention when I'm chipping in for a spendy dinner. Thanks La Toque for your great service.

La Toque continues to have the best French cuisine in the Napa Valley. Dinner with friends was made magical by a great menu, sterling wine list and perfect service. Delicious offerings like the foie gras, carpaccio, duck breast, bacon-wrapped port tenderloin and the veal chop were done in outstanding fashion. Dessert and cheese course did not disappoint either. You don't need to go up-valley to have one of the best meals of your life, French or otherwise.
Kudos to Chef Ken Frank and his entire staff for a wonderful evening!!

We enjoyed our meal at La Toque. The service was impeccable.

The dishes were flavorful and the wine pairings were spot on. The portions were small for the fish dishes but adequate for the meat dishes. The bread made in house was delicious. It's definitely an expensive meal reserved for special occasions.

It felt like Halloween came early! It was a horrific experience. Chef had no clue how much salt he was dishing out in each entree. The snapper dish with red Thai curry had Thai flavor missing completely. The last course was a Wagyu beef we had to spit out due to the sodium level . It was a major disappointment. We ordered a delicious Spanish 2001 Rioja and not once did the establishment feel ashamed presenting such bad food. I was suggest to dine at your own risk.

Went for our anniversary and were lucky enough to be seated at the Chef's Table overlooking the kitchen. We each ordered the tasting menu (4/5 courses) with my wife getting the wine pairing. The menu choices were extraordinary - the duck was phenomenal and the veal chops (for 2-pictured) even better. Even the though the portions were small-ish, we were actually full before dessert because each course was so full of taste and richness, The wait staff was very attentive and the sommelier was very informative when presenting each pairing.
For us (novices), it was as much a learning experience while having one of the best dining experiences ever!

Having high expectations because of great prior experiences may lead to major disappointment, no here! The chef is still the same and does an outstanding job, every single course was a great pleasure. Wine pairing was very well selected, however the amount served could have been more generous, especially with the main course. Considering the price of $ 82 per person for wine pairing I would order bottles next time. Then I know what I will be getting, even though in general I prefer wisely selected wines by a sommelier if he is poring generously.

We had high expectations of the meal - with a Michelin star we thought this would be out of this world. Some dishes were spectacular not all were. We were first disappointed with the amuse bouche. Some were not tasty enough and the chorizo was a bit chewy rather than crisp. We ordered food and wine pairings and the wine was very good - taking us to vineyards that we probably would never have tried. Fish dishes were good and so was the meat (pork and the steak). You need to like your steak rare but we were warned about that. So overall I would return but be careful in what I chose. Service was, as expected really good.

Overall great restaurant near downtown Napa. We had the 5 course menu with the wine pairing. On the positive side: Great service, preparation and presentation. The foie gras, hamachi crudo, duck breast, veal chop and espresso dessert were all Excellent!! Also very extensive wine list.
Not so good were the wine pairings that for my palette were way too far off dry. We stopped after the first course and selected a wine for the list. Also the red snapper was cooked to the point of being dry. To their credit, they quickly and without the slightest fuss made the situation right. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a fine dining experience and hope to return soon!

Disappointed!
...or maybe we expected too much from this restaurant, the food were generally good, the wait staff was okay. The ambiance looks like an ordinary hotel restaurant, the tables were covered w/ dark faux leather?
Being fanatics of fine dining, we have too much respect on chefs ...we thought they are genius transforming various simple ingredients into a perfect enjoyable piece, Ken Frank do justice to most of those.
As diners, we thought we need to follow the restaurants' restrictions, we dress up as a form of respect to a good /fine dining and maybe La Toque is lenient enough regarding this matter, sleeveless ? T-shirts? And even shorts? Is La Toque to loose? Or maybe some guests just don't know what Is appropriate ? Anyhow, we still have great appreciation for the whole staff, but maybe we will not comeback, there are lot of better restaurants around in which you could spend less!

Took the girlfriend here for date night and both had the chef's tasting menu and she went for the wine pairing to go along with it. It was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The service was too notch and very courteous. The food was absolutely great and showcased some very creative uses for the ingredients. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to treat their significant other to a special night out.

Our party of 4 came for dinner at 6. We arrived early, dressed casually with collared shirts and some with sneakers. We also brought with us 2 certified service dogs. Our male wait staff did not make us feel welcome, and not very friendly. He made a point as he was walking away from our table that the dogs are not welcomed if they make noise. Not until we ordered a $400 bottle of wine did the wait staff became more friendly. At the end of the meal when we asked for the bill, a 20% service charge was automatically added. We were not informed prior nor in their website did they mentioned an automatic service is added for party of 4.

Picked out this michelin starred restaurant for my 2 year anniversary with my wife. The food tasted better than a couple of 3-michelin-starred French restaurants we tried in NYC. The menu also constantly change to involve the freshest ingredients.
My wife and I are hard core foodies, and we loved every details of the food and drinks here.

This restaurant was chosen for a special occasion-celebrating 2 birthays! The food of course was exceptional and the wine list immense, so justly deserving of its Michelin Star. However, overwhelmed by our choices, the sommelier stepped in to explain, while recommending the most expensive glass of Pinot Noir ($30) which left us, feeling rather uncomfortable in refusing. We had discussed the previous day with the restaurant whether we could do the 6 course vegetarian tasting menu with the 4 course tasting menu and the very helpful lady said yes with the understanding that we would have to wait through the extra courses for the vegetarian menu, which was perfectly acceptable to us. However, when we arrived there was a total push for chef's tasting menu, even going to the chef (without us asking) as to whether there would be options for the 2 pesca-vegetarians in our party, one of whom was pregnant and so cannot eat raw fish. We explained again that they wanted to do the 6 course vegetarian tasting and then we were told that we then had to do the 5 course meal, so there would be only one course that we were not eating together. Our first server seemed to be rather inflexible about this rule, in spite of discussion the day before. Similarly, he pushed the option of Australian truffles on the vegetarian ravioli, which only one diner decided to go with but the others initially felt pressured to do also. All in all, the sales pressure ordering experience with our first server, left us feeling very uncomfortable. We have eaten at other Michelin starred restaurants in Europe and the US and have not felt similar pressure. Fortunately, the service following was wonderfully attentive and their presentation was like a choreographed dance! Each course was savored and we delighted in the freshness, flavor and delicacy of each ingredient, other than the truffles (we found them lacking in flavor compared to European truffles)and the overly salty bacon under the red snapper.
