We have been to many of the best chef’s tasting menus in the country and many worldwide. I cannot fathom why this restaurant has earned one Michelin star and can justify $200+ and then add a 20% tip with no wine pairing.

If you’ve never been to a Michelin starred restaurant and never had a tasting menu, you might love it. Frankly, the meal was just good, the staff was very attentive, but we had been out in Napa all day drinking great wine, so we elected to have one cocktail apiece. The meal came to over $600 for the two of us!

This restaurant is also located in a Westin hotel. The room is not up to Michelin standards in our opinion.

Terrific as always. We've been going to Ken Frank's La Toque at its various locations for more than 30 years. It's still terrific. This was my wife's birthday, and La Toque did not disappoint.

The chief sommelier came out of the gate like he was interrogating me for a trial, and put our whole family on edge. I had to insist he not serve us. This is not the La Toque of old. The ambiance is what you'd expect from a once-great restaurant (I've eaten with them three times) relocated from a charming barn to the Westin. So expect Westin-chic. Beyond that, the service was in fact above average, the food above average, but it was a wasted evening for $1700. Not remotely worth it.

Impeccable staff starting with the sommelier Jeremy. Sustained personal service by Katie and Alexis.
We were treated to a gastronomic indulgence on a higher level. Even Chef Ken Frank paid a courtesy visit.
This is our 2nd time here and won’t be the last.
I enjoyed the duck dish the most. Quite finicky with that but the duck was perfectly executed like Yat Lok of Hong Kong. The Tokaji dessert wine with blood orange peel was impressive. It was a momentous dinner

Ambien was good, service was attentive. However, foods were under average compared to other Michelin Star places I had in Napa, SFran, and South Bay... they need to keep up the game with technique, taste and creativity!

With a note in the Michelin guidebook, we had great expectations for La Toque. Walking in the restaurant looked like a hotel restaurant, slightly disappointing. We both opted for the nine course with wine pairings. The servers were nice and friendly and the Sommelier was attentive. The food was good and inventive but we were disappointed with the wine pairings. Only one actually seemed to enhance the paired food with the others only seeming to act more as a wine to simply drink. For this kind of money ($850 with tax and tip) we weren’t impressed. Also, they only paired seven of the nine courses and one of the “courses” was only a piece of candy.

For being a chef that has not only worked but also eaten at multiple Michelin restaurants, I was looking forward to our evening. My wife and I flew from Denver to celebrate her birthday with dinner here. That was a wrong choice. I understand menus change, but the menu you posted the day of service was not the menu offered. 2nd. Price increase of $30 per person plus an auto gratuity of 20%(get it). 3rd the minute or server realized we were only doing 4 savory plus desert menu service went downhill. 4th. My wife and I made sure to order completely different plates for dinner. So with that said 10 plates came to our table and only one dish was worth it. The sweetbreads and mole. The rest under seasoned, not memorable. Maldon salt is your friend when finishing a dish. For $400+, I wish my wife and I would've had a memorable night. Granted the host said happy birthday to my wife and that's it. I know in my restaurant if it's a special occasion we go out of our way to help celebrate your occasion, especially since you choose to dine in my restaurant. Thanks but no thanks on ever coming back into that "Michelin" stared restaurant. Time for the guide to come back and see why this star needs to be removed.

Service and food were outstanding. Both the server and somm knew their stuff - loved their recommendations and explanations. Opted for the 5 course dinner which was delightful but A LOT. We will got for the 4 courses next time. The decor and setting are something expected from a hotel (floor to ceiling brown, mirror paneling, patterns of squares on the carpet, bright lights) and really the only slight downside to the experience. Can't wait to come back!

The food was fantastic but I was disappointed that it really did feel like a restaurant in a hotel. With a Michelin star, I would expect more. The furniture/decor was like an average hotel restaurant, and the lighting was foo bright for a restaurant of this caliber.

My second visit to this restaurant. It was good, but not up to my expectations for a Michelin starred restaurant. Very high prices & the most arrogant sommelier at any restaurant I have visited including 3 star restaurants in Paris.

The first impression of the building was a bit deceptive, but the atmosphere indoor was modern, invinting and cozy. We were greeted warmly. The service was attentive and quick.

We tried chef's tasting menu, which offered us delicious, modern and good variety of courses. Wine quality was high and information we got from the wine director was really professional. This place is really worth a Michelin star.

We went to La Toque to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday. After many fine-dining experiences in Europe, Asia and the U.S., and trying pretty much all levels of a Michelin star restaurants, we had a fairly good idea of what to expect from a 1 Michelin star restaurant but unfortunately left disappointed.

Perhaps, we were unlucky to be welcomed by a conversation between hosts, who wondered whether we should be seated at all, after arriving just 15 min past the scheduled time; or maybe it was a misfortune to be seated close to a noisy group of diners having a corporate event and disturbing other guests with loud conversations and laughters for a couple of hours; or maybe it was the mediocre quality of (perhaps, defrosted?) winter truffles that were still full of smell but already quite tasteless (noteworthy, we like to visit our friend’s truffle farm and know what winter truffles are like when they are fresh and were stored well); or maybe we just missed out with our selection of the food from the a la carte menu and did not get all of the 4 courses cooked and presented as one would expect in a Michelin star restaurant (the steak was remarkable though)... all in all, our entire experience was certainly not worth the occasion, let alone the bill at the end.

Iit would be wise for the restaurant to plan seating of large groups and smaller parties in a better way, or perhaps even design small private rooms for larger parties (using curtains or temporary walls as an option).

This is probably a very good place or was at the time when michlen guide reviewers visited it, one just need to come in a right time when the right seasonal menu is served, the chéf has carefully controlled the ingredients before they are served to the diners, and noisy parties are able enjoy their experience without focing all others to be part of their festivities. As for us, we’ll probably go elsewhere next time we are in Napa Valley. Luckily, it is blessed with many great restaurants and wines.

Many of the best restaurants in the Napa Valley are in hotels, so don't let that bother you. La Toque is one of them (at the Westin but sort of set apart and only open for dinner.

La Toque pairs wine like no other establishment and has a more jovial atmosphere than its competitors. While not inexpensive by any means, it is less than its primary challengers for best in the valley.

Don't miss it.

Very good but for the Michelin star and price I was expecting excellence in every bite. I got the truffle tasting menu: the highlights of it were the ravioli , the John Dory fish and the oxtail. I thought the other dishes were lazy and uninspired with their addition of the truffle. Also felt some of the wine pairings were off.

My girlfriends food was much cheaper and much better than mine. The New York strip (girlfriend ‘s )was just amazing, one of the better cuts of meats I have ever had.

Service was a bit slow but this is a French restaurant and the staff are very professional and knowledgeable. I figure if the service was a tad quicker customers would complain about not having time to savor the meal.

If you go do the build your own prix fixe as you’ll probably leave more satisfied than throwing caution to the wind and going with what the current tasting.

If you were going to eat at only one Michelin star restaurant this year I would not recommend this one.

The restaurant is conveniently located in the Westin hotel where we were staying. We had the four course tasting menu with wine pairings. The food was very good, their signature steak lived up to billing and paired nicely with a Napa (the only Napa wine by the way) red. The octopus was also very good. Wait staff was attentive and the ambiance pleasant, though we were seated by the kitchen, I suppose a chef a table of sorts as you could see the activity. In total a nice experience.

Its rare when every dish fulfills your expectations: interest, novel, appearance, taste, portion, and served with aplomb. But even more rare when accompanied by an extensive list of fairly priced (foreign ..not California) wines and presented with timeliness, grace, and unobtrusive service .. .welcome to our finest meal of the week in Napa / Sonoma

Worth trying once however we got the 4 and 5 course build your own tasting menu and it was so so. They attempted to deconstruct the dishes to make it a bit more innovative, but the different flavors of each ingredient used to make each dish didn’t mix well together.

Service however was impeccable.

We give them props for that.

We consider ourselves foodies and this was an outstanding meal on Jan. 30 to avoid the New Years Eve crowd. Meals are all prefix with 4 to 9 courses with or without wine pairing. We had beef carpaccio, salad, scallops, black bass, ravioli and duck. All were outstanding...served hot and prepared very well. We did the wine pairing and the sommelier was informative and helpful. With the included 20% gratuity it was just over $400.00 for two. If you like food and wine it is worth the occasional splurge to enjoy this Michelin rated restaurant in the Westin, Napa.

Food was average at best. No innovation or creativity. My fish in one of the dishes was deep fried even after I specifically asked the server if it was, and she told me it was sautéed. So disappointed to see it was deep fried after I specifically asked her! Does she not know the difference between deep frying and sautéing? I’ve had much better meals for the same price. Utterly disappointed.

I was really excited to try this restaurant when I was visiting Napa with my family. Our entire party is vegetarian, so the fact that the restaurant offered a vegetarian tasting menu was the reason we chose this specific restaurant.

While the service was impeccable and the wine was phenomenal; the vegetarian tasting menu fell short of expectations. It was obvious each course was well prepared and beautifully arranged on the plate; however, out of 5 courses (I am excluding both the amuse-bouche and dessert), 4 courses included mushrooms. By the end of the meal we were all eating around the mushrooms. Being a vegetarian my entire life, I know there are plenty of other vegetarian fine dining options that could have been offered on the vegetarian tasting menu that didn't include mushrooms. While no one was allergic, it just didn't offer much of a variety for us.

The food was wonderfully prepared both taste-wise and presentation-wise. The staff were professional, attentive yet non-intrusive. The wine pairing was good (if only they can price it more reasonable cos after all they are in the wine producing region)and I have 1 outstanding red which is the 2010 GSM 'L'Autre' from Terre Rouge. My one comment was on the sommelier who was less than friendly. He performed his obligatory narrative on the origin and varietal. When asked further upon the pairing, if he could describe the taste, he did not offered any description, displayed an attitude like 'where should he begin', stayed silence a bit, turned and walked away.
