The food was great, but be prepared to wait for dishes to be prepared. The restaurant makes most things there such as pastas, desserts, etc. from scratch. Individual dishes are also prepared per order, so while you may get great authentic Italian dishes, this would not be the place to stop for a quick meal.
The food here is always very good. Fresh, homemade pasta. Well prepared meals ranging from meat to fish to pasta. Not a red sauce place. Go 1-2 times a year. Great service. Good wine list.
Perfect place for a business dinner! The food was excellent (we both had the lasagne), the service was prompt yet unobtrusive, and the restaurant was very quiet. I'd absolutely recommend this restaurant for dinner.
Second visit, both times a lovely experience, delicious food and great service. Imaginative cocktails, homemade pasta and bread, just right desserts. Try fritto misto, squid ink pasta with crab (an award winner), lasagne.
We took local and visiting family for dinner, and everyone enjoyed the experience.
This is the second time I have been to this restaurant. My friend and I made reservations, and we had a short window of time before going to an event, which we told our server. She was very accommodating, and our food was served super fast. It was also very tasty.
A fantastic date night. We chose the chef's menu for both of us and it was very nice. The chef visited us three times. How often does that happen in any other restaurant? The choices he made for us we're delicious and fun and highlighted Venetian cooking that we remember. Nicely done and thank you. We will be back. The lasagna was amazing.
We were visiting Baltimore. We looked for a good restaurant for Easter Dinner. LaTavola was a great find!! The food was amazing. We were in Italy last May and our pasta dishes reminded us of Italy. Christian our server was so helpful and made our dinner that much better. I highly recommend doing the half-orders of the pasta dishes so that you can taste as many as possible. Would go back to Baltimore just to dine here again.
As usual, the food is incredible, the service is outstanding and the atmosphere is great. Chef Carlo is the best.
My husband ordered a special - fish baked in a paper bag - and found it very bland. My lasagna Bolegnese was ok but not great. The pasta was tender but I thought it was too heavy on the white sauce and not enough of the meat sauce.
I can’t say enough good things about La Tavola. I have traveled the world and this is one of the finest Italian restaurants bar none. Bravo Chef Carlo you did yourself proud.
Food, service, and ambiance were awesome. Will go back and do recommend La Tavola highly.
Excellent gem of a restaurant in Balitmore's little italy neighborhood. Service was 5* without the pretentiousness of a lot of similar restaurants. Foods taste spoke for itself and all the food was light but complex in flavor. Would definately come here again. Can't wait to try the dessert next time we were just too stuffed from the delicious pasta/seafood to pursue it this time around!
They really looked after our big and noisy group well. food came out quickly and they were attentive throughout. A good night.
Food was excellent and service was very attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The place has a very nice seafood meal, prepared with love and greatly presented. The portions are not too big, and the vine selection is perfectly complimenting the menu
Where do I start? Friends have been telling me about La Tavola for years---so mad that I waited so long to try it. Service (Ben) was attentive and gracious. Both the manager and chef/owner visited the table. And when I say visited, they engaged us in lively conversation about our meal and conveyed their passion for feeding people. LOVELY! The Montepulciano by the glass was the perfect start to the appetizer of the day and a lovely bowl of clams and mussels. The mozzarella en carozza was like no other we have ever had---cheese, speck and finely chopped mushrooms in a crusty bread-like pocket---was served with beautiful tomato bruschetta. Where they get tomatoes like this in March is an oh so delicious mystery. Italian bread and focaccia helped us lap up the sauce that the clams and mussels were cooked in---heaven! Fettuccine Romano reminded me of a favorite dish that my nonna made---spinach and egg fettuccine in a parmesan cream with peas and speck. The perfect portion to satisfy without stuff. The lamb roulade special of the day was flavorful and beautifully presented with crisp roasted potatoes, garlicky zucchini ribbons and an herb topped tomato. A feast of the eyes and tastebuds. Don't miss their cheesecake or cannoli---light, luscious and like nothing you have had before. Support this local treasure and you too will wonder why you waited so long to try it!
We go to La Tavola often because we have loved the food as well as the ambiance which is relatively quite and attractive. This time, however, we didn’t like the food as well. The gnocchi, one of my favorites, was delicious as always but my husband ordered a lamb shank special which he didn’t like at all and the menu lacked some of our favorites and included mostly shellfish and fish dishes. We were told there is a new chef who focuses on Venetian specialties which are mostly sea oriented.
We would like to have the old menu with more beef, and veal options.
We’ll definitely go back and stick with our favorite pasta .
This is the best Italian restaurant in the city and state!
From the beginning to the end the whole experience was absolutely amazing. The wait staff were attentive, very knowledgeable, and respectful. Our waitress was Geri, and she gave us the best experience, and was very delightful! The chef came out to ask about dinner(because we chose the chef's tasting menu), was very nice, and receptive to what we wanted. The food, oh, the food was out of this world, every...single...course. I would come again, and in fact I plan to! La Tavola is the real deal, and a neighborhood gem!
Great food great service
This is one of my go-to places to take friends or family who come to visit. The food is fabulous, the prices are reasonable, and the service is great - very friendly, personable, knowledgeable without hovering or pestering. I learn so much about authentic Italian food just from asking the waiters questions. They're also very knowledgeable about their wine selection and pairing them with certain dishes. Oh, they also offer takeout, so it's really great place to stop after work.
Picked this place based on reviews that I checked prior to visit to Baltimore. Was very pleased. Service was outstanding and our waitress, Allison was very knowledgeable and helpful. A real plus with this restaurant is that you can order half portions for the lighter eaters in the group.
Amazing does not sum it up. From the personal service to the homemade extraordinary meals and unbelievable custom dessert tray. What an exceptional value. Relaxing, cozy, and a true gem in little italy.
Great food. Great Waiter.
Delicious handmade pastas. Very knowledgeable server and attentive service. Can’t ask for more. Great experience!
La Tavola just keeps getting better. The chef from Veneto is best at his pastas and seafood dishes, but the veal and chicken offerings are top notch as well. This has been a consistently good ristorante in Little Italy, with good service and a great wine list at reasonable prices.
Ate here for mine and my husband 8th wedding anniversary. The atmosphere was nice, a little more casual than I thought it was going to be. The food was great. I let the waitress choose my entree and I liked it. Monk fish tail over a bed of string beans. The lobster bisque soup I thought was delicious, but according to the table behind us, it was too spicy. (Don't know what spice they were referring to) I will eat there again, but probably just for a simple dinner or a casual dinner date. Will probably choose a place a little more formal for an anniversary dinner.
Excellent. Great service by Allison!
Very enjoyable, family friendly, great way to spend a 24th!
We were in Baltimore overnight celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. I am vegan and gluten
free so that was certainly the criteria for selecting a restaurant. I looked at the reviews on trip advisor & yelp and decided this was a good choice. We really enjoyed the meal, the atmosphere, the food and the wine! I had a gluten free pasta primavera and my boyfriend had seafood & pasta dish..both were excellent. Our waiter, Christian was incredibly attentive and pleasant.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Pleasant service a nd food. Nice wine list and reasonable prices.
Super fresh pasta and seafood. An all around delicious meal and great service!
This was our third visit to La Tavola in the past three months. We had a great meal. We sat upstairs this time in a large room that was comfortable. We had salads, each s different entree and shared two desserts. It was a leisurely dinner with good friends - it was their first visit- and we all thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
We are from out of town and ate here because of the great recommendations on OpenTable. We were not disappointed! The service was friendly and professional - great descriptions of the various offerings and specials. The pasta is made in house and is delicious - and served pipping hot. Value is very good. Despite the fact that it was busy, service was prompt and it was not unduly loud. Sorry we don't live closer, we'd be constant customers.
Nos encanto es una cocina 💯 italiana en Baltimore seguro que lo recomiendo
This place was fabulous! Really excellent food and service. The atmosphere was very nice as well. I was happy to find vegan options. The house wine was also decent. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was excellent. Pasta was all home-made. Staff was helpful but not intrusive. We were seated immediately even though we arrived a little early. I liked that a lot.
A light touch on all the sauces and dressings...very nice change of pace from traditional Italian food.
I truly think this is the best Italian restaurant in Baltimore. I genuinely appreciate that for how exceptional the food is, it remains remarkably quiet. I appreciate loud and trendy restaurants as much as the next person, but for a special night with family or a loved one... no better than La Tavola
