La Taverne - The Broadmoor Ratings and Reviews
We were celebrating our sons 24th Birthday. Our waiter Richard seemed disinterested. He did not bring bread or replace my silverware when taken after appetizer. We had to get utensils from another table as he was not around . He was friendly but we felt for an included 20% tip and price of the meal he should have been more conscientious.
I was hoping that this time would be different. We are drawn to the Broadmoor for the picturesque views and historic past. This is the third time we tried having dinner at La Taverne and it will be the last. The food is sub par (Prime Rib is cold, Shrimp cocktail small and over-priced and sides were all cold). My son did enjoy his cheeseburger. The service was terrible and to add insult to injury they automatically add a 20% tip! I can honestly say we will not return for dinner and I cannot recommend it to anyone. The views are beautiful but the food and service fall far short of expectations
I was badly in need of a little mini-vacation. I chose this restaurant because of past good experiences. A dear friend had received a new job and will be moving. We enjoyed not only the restaurant experience but also the shops that are around the entrance. The rock shop, art gallery, and Luna dress store were outstanding. All works of art. Thank-you for the good time.
Super disappointed far a steak restaurant. The food was not cleared from the table. The steaks were over cooked. I Daske multiple times for my server to return to my table. I think they just had a horrible awful night. They did compensate and apologize for the off night. All the other restaurants at the broadmoor had been exceptional
I have grown up going to the Tavern and the food was less than ordinary and bordering on awful. Our waiter had too many tables and when my 93 year old father and I wanted anything, it was quite a wait. Not a good experience, expensive and I will not venture back soon.
The exceptional person was at the check in desk, Amy, and she helped get a wheelchair for my father and even went to great lengths to get us to another building.
We wanted a special place to celebrate a birthday and this was a very special place! It was an expensive meal but the quality was outstanding and the garden room has such a wonderful atmosphere. Service was excellent and our meal could not have been any better. We had cocktails, a fabulous bread basket, the best French onion soup ever, prime rib with giant baked potato, and red trout perfectly cooked with the most delicious bernaisse sauce. Perfect!
The food was as usual very good. The service however was severely lacking in attention. The waiter failed to bring water until the end of the meal. The service was slow and the waiter kept apologizing for his lack of attention and thanking us for "our patience". If the tip was not automatically added he would not have received the same 20% that is automatically added.
Our server was wonderful, very knowledgeable on the Broadmoor & it's fabulous history. Brought additional history info and told us about all the wonderful made from scratch food items on the menu! The peach raspberry pie with homemade vanilla bean ice cream was wonderful! Our server added a candle and a happy birthday chocolate!
We were seated out in the garden room which was beautiful for lunch.
Best steak I have had in Colorado Springs in 12 years of living here. The food and service are both excellent. This is going to be our date night dinner frequently in the future. It is expensive (rib eye is $52) but it is worth it for the quality and because it is prepared perfectly. There is a good wine and beer selection as well as mixed drinks. The menu includes an excellent selection of fish entree's as well.
