We were there to celebrate the holiday with family. I found the setting drab and needing a face lift. We sat in the garden area which is a tad nicer, but still no great atmosphere. For the price of the menu I would expect a much less tired atmosphere. I ordered a salad with dressing on the side, it came dressed. There was a hair in the rolls. I like my prime rib medium rare, but the waitress said it could be cold in the center so i changed to medium. It arrived medium well. Brown all the way thru. They took it back and brought me a piece i would consider rare. Very very rare. Those who ordered steak had it delivered over done. Plus, a six ounce steak arrives on a big white plate with nothing but a piece of burned green onion. Very poor presentation. You can order a sauce but it comes on the side. I love desser but this menu was just weird. Nobody saw anything that even sounded good. Frankly, after touting the Broadmoor to my family members I was treating to dinner, I was embarrassed. I would definitly go to the Summit over this restaurant. Will not go back again.
Our server Jenelle was terrific. She very friendly and interested in us.

Unfortunately, we had a less than mediocre experience at La Taverne. The food was average and not worth the price. The waitstaff gets an automatic 20% gratuity (we usually tip 20% regardless, so this was not a big deal to us), but the service was poor. We tried to engage in conversation and showed that we were excited to be there, but our server was cold and not very friendly. On a positive note, the live music was fun and people were enjoying themselves on the dance floor.
When I made the reservation I asked to be seated in the Garden Room. When we arrived we were told that the Garden Room was not available however if we wanted to wait another 25 minutes a table may open up. We were with my in laws who are 90 and 96. It would have been too difficult for them to wait. We have been dining at the Broadmoor for over 30 years. The quality of food and the service were sub-par. Our waitress reached in front of my husband to serve me water and drinks until I finally asked her not to reach over my husband but to serve from the side. She said there wasn't enough room however when our plates were cleared the other server cleared my plate from the side and did not reach in front of my husband. We were insulted by the automatic 20% gratuity forced on us. Except for the company the dining experience was awful. We were all very disappointed at the decline of the establishment.
I will certainly admit the food was very good, as it normally is. I have been dining at the Tavern at least once per year for 12 years. Each year we dine there, the price goes up. While the food is very good, I believe $65.00 for a 10 oz filet is starting to get a little excessive. Additionally, they now add a 20% “service charge” to the bill. The automatic charge is evident in the attitude of the staff. For example, I called to change seating from 6:00 to 5:30. Concierge was not very enthusiastic, but agreed. When arriving, there was less than 20 people in entire restaurant. We did not believe our waiter rightfully earned the premium 20% either.
Quite honestly, the prices at the Broadmoor continue to rise, while the service continues to decline. It is very unfortunate, but not only is the Tavern in danger of losing us as patrons, but so is the Broadmoor itself.
Quality of the food was great. We were celebrating our anniversary and requested a quiet secluded table and we were completely taken care of. Romantic setting and the service was perfect.
Love this place. Great food and great service! We go here every Christmas for lunch. After lunch and dessert then it's upstairs to see the gingerbread house and beautiful trees and decorations.
this is a very good place. I took my girlfriend and she has only been here in Colorado for four months and she loved everything the broadmoor and this restaurant had to offer. I am a chef and personal chef myself and I can honestly say the food is great.
It had been 15 years since I had the opportunity to eat at La Taverne. My son was a Sous Chef there that many years ago. We made a special stop on our way through to have dinner there. Our cocktail was superb and our food was just as wonderful as we remembered. The service was not nearly as top notch as it used to be there but was adequate. As I observed other diners it seemed as though their service was adequate too but I certainly remember that in previous years, patrons were doted on while they were there. I was a little disappointed that the open grill was not in service as it was enjoyable to dine and watch the chef action. I have to mention that the 20 percent "service fee" automatically added on the bill is insulting. I regularly tip a minimum of 20 percent when dining. I often tip more when the service is excellent. I feel offended to be required a 20 percent tip and suggested "discretionary tip."
Overall, the place certainly has excellent food and is a worthwhile stop.
The ambiance in La Taverne is always wonderful. The brisk piped-in jazz music, however, was a distraction throughout our meal. Soft jazz would have worked, but this didn't. We both had the prime rib hash with bernaise sauce. The hash was flavorful and sauce perfect; however, the prime rib was cooked beyond well done. It must have gotten cooked further during the reheating process. Pieces of it were actually hard and almost mummified. So that was a huge disappointment, particularly at $23 per plate. The poached egg we asked to have cooked to "firm" (meaning not runny) was actually hard-boiled, so that was a miss too. I've been both staying at and dining at The Broadmoor for over 5 decades and it remains my most favorite hotel in the world--and I've been to many outstanding hotels overseas as well. It's a nostalgic location for me and brings back many happy memories of my childhood and special times. The hotel is definitely 5-stars, but I don't personally feel that your lower end dining restaurants are. For example, food in the Golden Bee frequently arrives at the table lukewarm. Not at all appetizing. Suggest you give some attention to your lower end menus and food preparation. Thank you. Karen Vanzant
Exceptional meal and service. Burger and steak were prepared perfectly. Hand cut fries were the best I've had. Atmosphere was relaxed and people seemed to really be enjoying themselves.
We had made a reservation for 2 people several weeks prior to our dinner. On the day of we called to ask if we could change it from 2 to 4 people. We were told that the restaurant was full that evening and they could not accommodate us. When we arrived at 7 pm and left at 8:30 the entire bar was empty. They probably had 15 tables that would have allowed us to have 4 people. The host was not able to give us explanation as to why they could not have accommodated us.
We felt very rushed throughout our meal. The first course of salad came about 3 minutes after we ordered.
We will not return and would not recommend.
Our server was satisfactory--attentive, well-informed, polite. No complaints with him, but it was not "five-star" service. The Caesar Salad was divine--best I've had in a long while. We had prime rib and a filet. The Prime Rib was pedestrian--nothing special there. The filet was supposed to be "Medium," but was rare in places, and partially burned in others. Overall, both cuts of meat had a nice taste, but we have had FAR BETTER steak dinners at half the cost. It was quite disappointing, and we will not be returning.
Everything was great but the manager (Matt) came by to wish us a happy Anniversary and gave us the dessert menu stating that dessert was on the house and when the bill came we were charged for dessert. $9 isn’t that big of a deal but we felt like we were shorted.
We specified on the reservation request it was a special event - date night. Made no difference apparently as to where we were seated as the hostess took us back into the large dining room filled with groups and sat us rather than place us in the front in a small, quiet table for two. I get the feeling the Broadmoor is just trying to move bodies through the Tavern (which used to be called the tavern - the menus still say "the tavern", the napkins still say "the tavern", but it's "la taverna" now. Also, when you try to book on the broadmoor website, when selecting the tavern, it actually books you at the bowling alley there (which isn't very convenient unless you want to eat at the bowling alley). When I dine at the Broadmoor, I think of peaceful elegance, not a loud dining room. The service from our waiter was fantastic. Know that they automatically include a 20% gratuity, regardless of party size.
We had the Wagyu Beef Ribeye steak that was excellent. You could seriously cut it with your fork and the taste was delicious! Probably the best steak we've ever had anywhere. The waitress was great and knew the menu very well. Excellent service! The Ambiance, however did not match the food. We were in the back section (kind of a garden room) that reminded us of a Vegas all you can eat room. The only other choice of seating was right by a very cheesy band playing very loud music.
I have sent a private note to the restaurant staff regarding my opinion of the food and service.
The food and service far exceeded our expectations! Kate was an exceptional server and not only gave us great ideas on what we should orde, but also charmed us with her humor. The macaroni and cheese as a side was the best we have ever had. In addition, as an entree, the Wagyu hamburger was unbelievably good. We will definitely be back!
Food was very overpriced for the low quality that they serve. Service was bad; forgot to ring in our sides and didn’t bring them until our entrees were already finished.
Still one of the best ribeye steaks I’ve ever had! Food was delicious and service was great.
Thought it would be better given the hotel. Had to ask about specials and the waitress never told us we were entitled to a sauce on our steaks

We were celebrating our sons 24th Birthday.Our waiter Richard seemed disinterested. He did not bring bread or replace my silverware when taken after appetizer. We had to get utensils from another table as he was not around . He was friendly but we felt for an included 20% tip and price of the meal he should have been more conscientious.
Food was delicious. Manhattans fabulous. Decor is a bit basic, but needs to be moved for dancing.
I was hoping that this time would be different. We are drawn to the Broadmoor for the picturesque views and historic past. This is the third time we tried having dinner at La Taverne and it will be the last. The food is sub par (Prime Rib is cold, Shrimp cocktail small and over-priced and sides were all cold). My son did enjoy his cheeseburger. The service was terrible and to add insult to injury they automatically add a 20% tip! I can honestly say we will not return for dinner and I cannot recommend it to anyone. The views are beautiful but the food and service fall far short of expectations
I came here to celebrate a birthday dinner and it was absolutey lovely! Our waiter was amazing and so was the food!
I was badly in need of a little mini-vacation. I chose this restaurant because of past good experiences. A dear friend had received a new job and will be moving. We enjoyed not only the restaurant experience but also the shops that are around the entrance. The rock shop, art gallery, and Luna dress store were outstanding. All works of art. Thank-you for the good time.

The food tasted good and the service was great. For what you pay, the food should be hot, not room temperature or cool. That is my only complaint. It’s quite expensive for cool food.
The food was outstanding, I had french onion soup and caesar salad and they were the best I've ever had! The wine by the glass was pricey but worth it. The server was always there when I needed him. Very attentive!
