La Table - Château Ratings and Reviews
Beautiful setting for girls lunch. The waiters were very attentive and made us feel well taken care. I had tuna nicose salad-it was fresh, light but filling and so delicious. Loved the white anchovies too. Olive tampanade was a bite spicy. A wonderful lunch with great service.
Our waiter messed up our order. When we inquired it seemed like he didn’t really care what went wrong. No apology was offered. Basically, he stated I’ll take the kissing item off your final bill. Considering we were celebrating our 5th year anniversary I was disappointed in the service.
I love this restaurant but I think their prices are a bit high. The four of us split 2 racks of lamb. Menu says $65/pp so you would think it's $65 per order. No! It IS $65 per person! Why is a rack of lamb $130/2 ppl? That's unreasonable.
Also, the service needs some fine tuning. Especially for these prices! The staff constantly interrupts conversation. Every bite laid down does not need explanation unless we ask. They just dive right in. We hadn't seen these friends since summer began and it was frustrating to be constantly interrupted. Also when food arrived we had to ask and therefore, wait for the wine. Bad timing people.
La Table was OK. Having said that, OK was not what we were going for in our anniversary dinner. The food was reasonably good, the service was OK (a bit taken aback by plates being served on the table without even an attempt to explain what is being served). All in all an underwhelming experience. Not going back and not recommending.
The service was impeccable and an overall lovely experience. We really enjoyed the French onion soup and chocolate soufflé- French classics. The main dishes were lacking in flavor and seemed underwhelming- we ordered the duck and fish of the day. Omar would recommend trying their lunch or brunch menus. This said it was a lovely dining experience with expertly trained staff. We will likely return for a lunch experience.
We three business women had a delicious meal during Houston Restaurant Weeks, so the price for lunch was very reasonable. The dining room is decorated beautifully in calming tones, and we appreciated the table spacing and quiet. We could easily converse. The service was excellent, and we never felt the least bit rushed.
Beautifully done décor and service. The menu includes classics, comfort food, light choices and surprises (avocado toast!). We dined on a Monday and the restaurant was "out" of steaks and lobster. Not sure we would have ordered those anyway; but I hope this isn't indicative of supply issues. I've never had that experience here before - the food has always been exquisite.
We were celebrating my parent's 60th wedding anniversary. Everything was perfect, as always. You can certainly tell that the staff has been trained to be attentive without being obtrusive and this is not easy. I never noticed them, but they always appeared just when something was needed. I dine here frequently because it is always wonderful, the ambiance is great, the noise level is moderate and the food superb!
The only problem we had was that the staff seemed in a hurry to clear the table. I'm a slow eater, and for every course, there was a person ready to wisk away the last bite on my plate while I was still eating. There's a fine line between prompt table clearing and giving the impression that they would like you to leave as soon as possible.
Those that had duck and chicken breast were happy with very tasty and well presented dishes. The cheese souffle was wonderful. Unfortunately the crab salad was somewhat fishy tasting and the red snapper, although good was pretty flat. Wine very good and sommelier helpful.
For a place like this, I expected to be treated with the upmost hospitality. The hostess and manager only treated their regulars as such. The ambience was extremely snooty. The food was not very tasty. For the price, go to B&B Butchers where you will get treated warmly and leave with your bellies happy and satisfied.
This was a very pleasant surprise. I'd booked a table for a business meeting yesterday because it's close and looked nice online, and wound up loving the food, from the fresh, crusty rolls they keep offering to the truly delicious espresso after the meal. The salads are fresh and full of bright, sharp flavors, the sauces are truly French (not the fatted-up versions that less skilled chefs try to pass off as French) and used sparingly, and everything is perfectly seasoned to bring out natural flavor. One of my guests ordered the salmon on the Restaurant Weeks menu and the waiter took the time to make sure he understood how he wanted it cooked! (I'm accustomed to that process with tuna, but I'd never seen it with salmon.) I also enjoyed the amount of space and privacy around the table and the little stool they placed next to my chair to hold my purse. I had a glass of the day's Cab (something from Napa, I think) and it was very, very good. They also offer "house" sparkling and flat water, and bring the bottle(s) to the table, though they refill your glass before you even think about reaching for the bottle. None of us had dessert, but if the appetizers and mains are any indication, it must be wonderful. I have already booked another business lunch there day after tomorrow! Because of the limited space, they offer free valet parking which, I confirmed with the valet, is in the covered garage behind het property. One note - I indicated that La Table is a good value, and it is, considering the quality of the food and service, and the uncramped dining room. But this is a fancy restaurant with plenty of staff in an area with very high rents, so you can't expect to pay less than $20pp (at the barest minimum).
Once again La Table proved they aren't he best with customer service! It was our anniversary dinner and they had prepared a table tent for our celebration- acknowledging upon being seated that there was a grammatical error - the team quickly replaced and we were able to make light of the situation. The beautiful room and the exquisite food was equally on par to the service throughout the evening. We always feel special at La Table and look forward to celebrating many special occasions within its handsomely dressed walls and tables.
