The overall food quality was good but there were a few areas that were definitely lacking. The waiters weren't really informed about the food but merely servers which for a restaurant that offers +$25 per plate meals is a bit alarming. They couldn't answer a question about an entree on the specials menu and deferred by saying the head chef had left. The outdoor heat lamps were both not working and it was a bit chilly, while not cold outside, where we chose to sit.
The waiters didn't bring bread initially, until mid-way through our meal, one asked if we would like more, and we replied that we had never received any bread. We didn't know this restaurant routinely provided it.
I don't fault the waiters for the service, or the lamp failure but the restaurant management. They could use some training and more attention to detail.
During our lunch, both my girlfriend and I ordered the lunch special (salad and pasta). When we got our salads delivered, my girlfriend noticed a piece of paper in her salad. We quickly returned the item. Instead of an apology or acknowledgement, the waiters/servers just laughed. Quite unprofessional. We will not return.
We split the beet salad, which was delicious. They served the split order on two plate, and the servings were very generous. The bread was good too, but the salmon and halibut ravioli special was mediocre. The ravioli didn't even taste like fish. My boyfriend had a sausage pasta dish, which he said did not have any sauce on it. The service was good, and the dining room was quiet enough to have a conversation.
My friend and I had a really nice dinner of three shared courses. We started with the grilled scallops and prawns appetizer, which is served on a very generous sized warm barley salad, more than enough for two. We had the pasta dish she especially likes and which I have never seen elsewhere: the buckwheat pappardelle in cream sauce with vegetables and pieces of roast chicken. The pappardelle were very wide and had a good buckwheat flavor. Our entree was the grilled lamb chops (4), served on arugula salad with asparagus and grilled eggplant slices. The lamb chops had a good flavor but I do wish there had been more light so that I could see to trim off the fat. It was a chilly evening, and every time the door opened we felt the cold air even though we were not sitting near the door. The restaurant was quiet enough for easy conversation, and the service was excellent.
Celebrated New Years Eve with friends and we all loved our meals. The daily specials added a nice variety to choose from. My Italian friend said the lasagna was the best she had ever eaten. Others ordered the Fruit de mare, Chioppino, and NY Steak - all wonderful. Generous portions. Will definitely be returning.
I wanted to eat light so I ordered the Romaine salad and a soup. Romaine, cheese and croutons for $10 is a rip off. My fault for ordering it. Lentil soup taste like it came out of a can. Uninspired food. Tiramisu was good. At least we had a good dessert and our waiter was pleasant.
Have eaten here many times. Food is delicious. Service was so bad this time don't know if I'll go back. Half hour wait , with a reservation. Seated and waited 20 min before anyone came to the table. No bread ever offered or brought. No water refills during dinner. Tried to get someone's attention during all of this, no one acknowledged our efforts. Sad.
We had the two salmon dishes. Mine, the sautéed salmon with grapes and mashed potatoes and vegetables, was ok, but not outstanding. The grapes sounded a little strange, but were good. They didn't taste sweet at all, I guess because they were cooked with savory items. My friend's roasted salmon looked like the better of the two dishes. I think the pasta dishes are a better choice in terms of taste and cost.
We are regular customers and really like the food, a lot more authentic Italian compared to other Italian shops in bay area.
Everything was great except a very awkward/rude comment by someone I later found out to be the restaurant owner, about me resting my injured foot by the front window base which for some reason he found as inappropriate! Still, you don't talk to customers with such attitude.
My wife and I met another couple here for lunch on a beautiful Saturday. The venue was pleasant but the food was marginal at best and service was slow and incompetent. I had the salmon and halibut ravioli but the pasta was over cooked and the salmon and halibut were mia. The chicken on my wife's dish was severely over cooked and it took three tries to get a our friend's pizza order right. To make matters worse, this all came with lots of attitude. No wonder not as busy as other restaraunts in the area.
Worse dining experience in recent history. Complained to the chef as he was also the mgr. Chef is emotionally unstable and prob should not interact with customers. He said my complaint was harassment?!$@#%^!
Have told each and every person that has asked me about restaurants in PA not to dine here. Food and service are not worthy of being a food establishment. Obviously, my experience here was so awful that I cannot say anything positive about this place.
