La Strada - Eldorado Resort Casino Ratings and Reviews
My fiancé and I dined late in the evening on New Year’s Day. That being said, maybe the kitchen staff was exhausted and the pasta had been sitting, but the entrees (both of which came recommended by staff) were NOT up to par considering the price and reputation of this restaurant. The portion of seafood linguini was giant but the “white wine sauce” was basically a bowl full of water and only a couple of the clams were actually open. My fiancé’s duck rigatoni was a worse disaster- mine was edible with salt and Parmesan- but his pasta was starchy and gummy like it had been cooked in too little water and left to sit. Duck was over cooked and stringy. Sauce was equal parts odd and flavorless.
That being said, the service was wonderful. Our waiter was charming, knowledgeable, professional, and attentive. To be fair, he repeatedly asked if we were enjoying the food. We lied, as they were already closed, and we had him box the food hoping we’d be tipsy and hungry enough later to eat it (we weren’t). We did love the little olive and cheese board appetizer and the assortment of garlic bread and plain baguettes that came before the meal. If I return, I would go for the romantic atmosphere, professional staff, wine selection, bread, appetizers, a dessert and coffee, but skip the entrees.
Only issue was they didn't have the first 2 bottles of wine we ordered and then they had to run to the other restaurant "roxy" to get our third bottle we ordered that they did not have. So we got our bottle of wine as we got our meal, would have preferred it a bit sooner
When we are in Reno-sometimes monthly, we always make a reservation at La Strada
the best restaurant in all of the casinos
The mushroom ravoli--their specialty for years is still the greatest..
Add a glass of white wine, their bread...and we are in "heaven"
Will continue to come back to La Strada--and will recommend to all..
I wish the hotel was up to the same standards...sadly it is not....
Absolute worst experience we’ve had in a very long time. We are both Reno locals and though used to love La Strada wouldn’t go back or recommend it. We had a reservation for 2 for 6:30 in 12/29/17 for my fiancé’s 40th birthday. We showed up on time and waited over 10 minutes for anyone to help us. We told the two hostesses that we had a reservation and were told it would be 5-10 more minutes. We decided to wait at the bar. We asked if they had our reservation and the girl rudely confirmed that yes we had one and walked away. She later came to get us and told us to meet her at another host station. We waited and finally someone else sat us. This was almost 30 minutes after our reservation time. We were seated at a tiny table in the middle of a crowded room next to a loud kitchen. After waiting for quite some time a server came to get our drink order. It was even longer to get our drinks. When we stopped him as he ran by and asked what specials they had he said they don’t have specials and walked away. We had to catch him again to order food. His demeanor was that of a port of subs drive thru order taker. The entire experience was awful. The next day we got an email from Opentable saying we missed our reservation. This is not at all the case. We went on time and were treated awful. So so disappointed in La Strada and this experience. Ruined a milestone birthday and we will not recommend nor be back.
La Strada is one of my family’s favorite places to dine. We celebrated my birthday at La Strada before going to a show. Everything was delicious! A friend from out of town said the lasagna was the best she had ever eaten. The mushroom raviolis are a favorite and always delicious. A complimentary tiramisu was brought to the table w/ an Italian rendition of Happy Birthday. It was a very special evening!
We've eaten at LaStrada a number of time and are never disappointed. Food is very good and the wait staff outstanding. We had a standard Italian dinner - tomato soup and salad and chicken parm and veal chops for entre's. Served with bread which is always excellent. Restaurant is relatively quiet and very comfortable seating in a number of smaller rooms. The chicken parm came with vegetable and polenta. From past experience, if you order a small order of pasta with the dinner (an optional charge), the portion is very big. Great wait staff every time we come here to dine.
La Strada is one of the classiest expensive restaurants in Reno. I've lived in Reno since 1964 so I've been to almost all of them over the years. This was the first time that I was not someone's guest at La Strada so I never experienced the impact of seeing a Bill. It was our Christmas dinner, so it felt okay to splurge but was still shocking to see the prices on the menu. My brother said that Reno restaurants are much less expensive than those in the Bay Area. So with that in mind, I can say that if you spend $60.00 on a meal, you will be getting the BEST QUALITY food at La Strada!
Worst meal with worst service ... ever. Shrimp over cooked ... scallops over cooked. Linguine undercooked and arrived after chicken was finished. Could not get wqiter’s attention. Polenta tasted burned. Risotto smelled funny. Scallops gritty & sandy (not well washed.) Just absolutely horrible.
I live 250 miles away but when I go to Reno I want to go to LaStrada. The owner was there when we went this time. He pointed out that La Strada means the street and that the ceiling is like the night sky, black with twinkling stars. I had never loked up before.
It was a whole lot of food very good experience, you get your moneys worth. better than other famous Italian restaurants u see on t.v, I Highly recommend it we paid under 100.00 for 1 appetizer 2 main corses and decert. Our server was awesome ask for nereida.
uneven to the max - shrimp appetizers spot on, pomodoro soup was a wondrous symphony of tastes... antipasto appetizer was two skimpy slices of perscuitto and mortadella with a couple of small pieces of cheese accompanied by a couple of olives and pickled veggies... waaaay overpriced! Main courses - salmon in a paper bag was nice, although the salmon was obviously not wild caught, which effects the overall flavor; still, while not world class, not bad....but then there was the duck rigatoni - awful!! barely cooked home made pasta that redefines Al Dente - and to make matters worse the pasta was cooked (such as it was) in salt water... which combined with the overly salty duck and in brood made the dish inedible!
To top it off, our waiter seemed very distracted - and he committed the cardinal sin of tipping our wine bottle to get the last dregs into our glasses - which of course included sediment.
The overall experience is hardly what I'd call world class dining - and I seriously wonder if we will ever return.
Still one of the absolute top casino restaurants in Reno. Always good food at a reasonable price.
Our waiter Chris remains our favorite too. Always on the spot checking our comfort level.
Thank you Chris. And, thank you Eldo for such a great Christmas Show which we enjoyed
prior to our dinner to cap off the evening.....
An outstanding meal. My wife an I enjoyed our meal immensely. Our waitress, Nerija, was prompt, personable and checked on us frequently. Portions are large and excellent. My Caesar salad was as good as any I have had in the past and my Seafood Linguine was the best I have had. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Conchiglie Panna, Prosciutto and Piselli very much. In there was any negative, it was my wife’s very good minestrone soup was served warm and not hot. This, unfortunately, seems to be a problem in many restaurants. Their claim is this one of the ten best Italian restaurants in the country and they may be right .
The food was excellent. My date really enjoyed the lasagna and I had the mushroom ravioli, for which La Strada is known. Now, I don't generally do Italian, but this ravioli was wonderful. I expected to have it as a first course then have the ribeye, but it was so rich I just couldn't do the steak. Recommend dinner here after a show!
We gave been to La Strada several times and have enjoyed the food, wine and service each time. Try the tasting menu if you have an opportunity. They don't tell you exactly what you will receive, but we have done it twice and it was excellent both times. Will do it again and we will definitely be back. There was a table nearby that was quite lively and our server apologized, but it was not disruptive to us.
We’ve been to La Strada several times. The food is consistently good. Nice atmosphere overall. This time we were seated next to a group of 20+ which upped the noise level considerably. Only low note was my son wanted a beer and was told they had 32 varieties which sounded great. The only problem was the waitress couldn’t name them and had no idea where to find a list!
Hostess was very rude sat another customers before us we had a reservation for 5 o’clock and we were the first ones at the hostess stand. She sat four other tables before us I asked her about it and she pretty much said it is what it is. I’m a six generation Nevadan and I think the El Dorado is no longer in Place for locals.
