La Sorella di Francesca Ratings and Reviews
Two of us stopped in for a Sunday lunch. We split a salad to start, with their wonderful champagne vinaigrette dressing. We each had chicken entrees - mine with lemon over spinach and his with tomato based sauce and he ordered a side of roasted potatoes. Everything was great - we satisfied our appetite and will return soon!
You just can't go wrong with any Francesca's location, really. Each location is familiar yet different, and great food is prepared very well. I think I could close my eyes, point to the menu at random, and I would love whatever the server brings me. This is authentic Italian food with creative items on the menu, but they're not creative for the sake of different. Trust me on this.
As good as the food was the last time I was there, the service was better. Our server understood my friend and I were settled in for a nice long visit. She gave us space, but we didn't have to look for her when we were ready to order - she kept an eye on us! The whole staff was friendly and attentive, and made our evening enjoyable.
Food was excellent. But staff could use more training. Server never combined trips to save time (would only bring drinks, then return to take appetizer, then return to take dinner order, etc.). Bus Boy took all silverware after appetizer was served. Main dish was served, then they tried to remove plates immediately while we were waiting for silverware. While dessert was served, they brought us someone else's meal.
The food here is consistently very good, but I was disappointed this time...I ordered Tortellaci con Funghi (filled pasta with mushrooms in a burgundy cream sauce)and it was so salty I could hardly eat it. I also started with a house salad (no longer on the menu but they made me one) and it was mostly the bottom ends of the romaine lettuce leaves.
Our first visit. I thought the atmosphere was ok. They put us and the next foursome right in front of the window next to each other even though the place was empty. Would have liked a little more privacy but that's business. They had "oldies" playing rather loud throughout the restaurant.
Our server was attentive and was always there when we needed. Food was delicious. My wife had salmon and shrimp and I had a burger which was surprisingly good. The pricing was average to above average.
Overall it was ok. There are a lot of restaurants in Naperville and although pretty good, they may need to step up their game to stay competitive.
Food and service were outstanding! I had veal medallions and my wife had salmon with shrimp scampi. Only negative was that the noise level within the restaurant was very loud. Difficult to converse with my wife. Our meal cost over $50 per person which seemed high, but the meal and service were outstanding!
Visiting family member, from Baltimore, had heard about this place from a co-worker so we made reservations so they could try it. We had been here before and they did not disappoint. The service was excellent, we had a food allergy, and he was very helpful answering our questions. Everything was a delicious. Pacing of the meal was perfect so no portion of our meal was rushed. No complaints.
They over booked their reservations and we were going to be sat upstairs in separate small room, we said we wanted the main dining room area and it took over an hour for our table. Open Table said they had plenty of reservations.... we used to do our Christmas party there maybe have to find a new place this year.
The food wasn't the best I have had from there. Very disappointed in the "pea" soup which was more of a thick chunky potato soup with barely a pea flavor and the meat was barely visible. Told the server and she just said sorry. We didn't finish a bowl with 4 people eating it. No manager sent over or taken off of the bill. The bruschetta with goat cheese was also a joke. It wasn't whipped and put on the bread but rather sprinkled over the top of the "special" one with arugula which all rolled off the minute you picked it up to eat it. 4 small pieces for $12. :(
Other than that the dinner was good and Birgitte at the front was very friendly.
As usual, a great meal! I had the salmon which is always a win in my book, cooked to perfection with veggies fresh and delicious. We were looking for white sangria which they didn't have on the menu, and as usual, they were so accommodating and fixed some up for us- delicious. Thank you!
A must try restaurant when you visit downtown Naperville. Great atmosphere on a Friday evening, lively yet you are able to have a conversation without struggling to hear others in your party. Food selection and presentation are great. The taste was outstanding. The waiter was humorous and very attentive.
I have lived in the Naperville area for years, and have been waiting to try LaSorella forever. Took the opportunity with the need for a business meal and it truly delivered! From the Service, ambiance to the food, Everything was on Point! I will definitely be going back soon for a family meal to share the outstanding cuisine with my husband!
