I’ve been to La Societe for brunch many times, and must say that the quality of the food has sadly declined over the past year and a half. More disappointing is that the staff clearly do not recognize what is and is not acceptable, and so they bring sub-standard food to the table with the expectation that most patrons will just accept what is put in front of them without objection. Bad management for not re-enforcing the standards. Most unfortunate since the decor is so charming.
Came here for a relaxed girls dinner and it did not disappoint. Don’t be discouraged by the detour of building upgrades. It was easy enough to find the restaurant by following the signs on the walls. The waiter was amazing and very helpful about the menu. I ordered the Sea Bass with rice pilaf. The fish was done to perfection and the whole dish was seasoned just to my taste. The atmosphere is elegant and surprisingly comfortable. I will definitely put this on my favourites list.
This was our second visit and once again loved everything. Great food, good service and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely come back again and again.
Awful side plates. None of the dishes were at a high enough standard. Have been here multiple times and this was by far the worst experience
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The ambience at La Societe is second to none.
Food is always on point. Dessert came a little short but good value for the drinks and free parking after evening hours is a plus!!
Excellent service. It was great to speak French to the server as he was francophone.
Terribly noisy for a Sunday brunch...had to shout to speak with someone across the table.
Had noted that it was a birthday celebration at the time of booking and had hoped to have a dessert with a candle...as there was offered in the past.
Disappointing...the croque monsieur was dry and not very tasty...the other dishes were okay.
I expected a better meal and hoped for a special birthday treat for our visitor from the UK. Not very impressed.
Lovely but food was cold. Sent back to the kitchen and rectified but diminished the experience. Costly.
Very lovely meal and excellent service , portion sizes small and upscale pricing however venue is spectacular .
Great atmosphere and good food! Had French onion soup and beef bourguignon, both good. (Wish I knew they validated parking before we paid for it though)
Worst dining experience ever. Horrible service and very over priced. Went for brunch with 'bottomless mimosas' (or so I thought). The waiter was extremely rude and talked down to us. We had a group of 7 and spent over $600 but were still ignored for the entire visit. At the end, they brought the bill and I noticed they had also been charging us for orange juice at $6 a glass even though we had already spend $35/person on the bottomless mimosas. I tried to explain to the waiter that a mimosa is orange juice plus sparkling wine so we should not be charge for orange juice on top of mimosas. He said the orange juice he had brought us was not the usual juice you put in a mimosa so was not included. He said I could speak with the manager which made me hopeful but the manager was even more rude and asserted that there was two types of orange juices, one that was included and one that was not and we were being served the one that was not included with our sparkling wine. I said that they should really tell us if they are planning on serving (and charging for) orange just that was not included. He said "perhaps, but you have drank the orange juice that costs more, which is all that matter, even if you did not know that there was additional cost. We served it, you drank it, so you will be paying for it." I was shocked but we paid the bill anyways, including the added "special" orange juice. I will never being going back to this place as the whole experience was very off-putting. The food was okay, but still, with that service and price, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. And also, they added an automatic 18% gratuity to our bill (which ended up giving our extremely rude waiter a $120 tip!) which was also not negotiable as it was their 'policy' to automatically include an 18% tip, even if the service is terrible. I guess that is why the waiter felt it was okay to not try to serve us well, since he would be pocketing his 18% regardless of being good or terrible.
We decided to return for winterlicious once again. We always enjoy coming to La Société and this time was no exception. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and we enjoyed every minute of our escape to Paris in the heart of downtown Toronto. We look forward to our next visit.
nice food but service needs to be improved
food was awesome, service was so so, our waiter had a bit of an attitude....great atmosphere and location.
Loud music. Waiters is a rush. Very average food given the price.
Loud. Loud louder loudest. Though streak. Tiny tables no privacy.
My friend had poached eggs with salmon and they were cold when they arrived at the table. No fresh ground pepper was offered and had to be asked for. As well, she was served coffee with a lipstick stain on the cup, so had to send back.
We weren’t offered anything other than water until everyone arrived (and one person was 30 min late). Food was good but drinks heavily over priced.
Slow service. Salty food. Won’t go back again. Took over 2 hours.
