I was very pleasantlyt surprised by how tasty the steak frites was... quite delicious. Also, we shared the brussel sprouts as a side, and this was very good as well.
I've been to this restaurant many times. It is a beautiful setting and the service is typically good. Unfortunately, this time the food arrived cold, my eggs were barely cooked and both of our meals were nearly flavourless. I had lobster Benedict which I have had before and it was delicious. A $29.00 brunch plate should be hot and flavourful. This was a Disappointing visit.
Unless your in a booth, the chairs are not very comfortable for a man.
Underwhelming experience compared to the first time I was here. Maybe it was the bad weather, but the hostess did not smile once or greet us. I also wished my server came over to check on us during the meal because my fries were stale and cold. I ended up setting it aside and didn’t eat it.
Great!! Luis was a fabulous server and the mean was excellent.
Was very excited to try this place after talking with Friend and looking at the menu but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. Atmosphere was strange, music was awkward and the food was over priced and not good.
Would I go back absolutely it was a great meal and a lovely evening. My guest also really enjoyed their meal.
Food was very flavourful - had the cod and companion had the salmon, both licked our plates clean with the bread. Shared dessert - Mille feuille and gateau noire, both delectable, Mille feuille both pastry and cream incredibly light, not the typically heavy kind you get elsewhere, everyone super friendly from the moment we got there. A little quiet, but it wasTuesday, and early.
I had booked a table for an intimate gathering with some dear friends. Staff found us the perfect table to be our noisy selves. Recommendations for wine and items to share were totally on point.
The restaurant is very nice with lots of space which I like. I didn't feel like I was on top of others like at some restaurants.
Everything quite good, a bit noisier than expected and finding entrance was difficult due to building construction in progress and not easy to see signage.
What was not good the restaurant reported In error that I had a no show, which caused some trouble for me now to validate as I paid cash.
The food is not worth the price. 30 dollars for a lobster eggs benny, that comes with barley any lobster, an unedible English muffin underneath and an egg that is falling over the place. I asked for a new plate, and it came just the same, even WORSE. Secondly, they do bottomless drinks. 35 dollars unlimited mamosas, sparkling wine and ceasars. These have little to no alch in them. I had 7 mamosas and I was more sober then when I arrived. I left feeling gross, bloated and so unsatisfied with my experience.
Faux Paris bistro meets bad disco. The incongruity of really obnoxious disco music in what would otherwise be a reasonably good restaurant (that is trying very hard to imitate a Paris bistro) is too much.
My salad was inedible , the sea bass was dry and the lentils with the salmon had no taste.
The service was good and efficient especially as we were going to a concert.
Great food, exite new taste buds, fresh salad, forgetful waiter.
French cuisine that is really good for lunch
It was actually one of the worst places we went to.
We got a mediocre table, asked for another one, and got another mediocre one.
The staff were very stressed and could feel it as they spilled some coffee on my friend, and brought me a drink that was dripping and that I had to wipe.
This restaurant touts itself as a French one, but my friend and myself, who are French, would definitely not recommended it. The music for instance was American.
The food was okay—not the best I’ve had in Toronto. However, the drinks were very good.
If you're looking for an authentic French experience, this is not it.
Worst Easter brunch experience I have ever had. Staff indifferent. Food cold.
Repeat customer. I usually love La Societe. This time was certainly below standard though. They seated us in the shafted secondary room that is to the left of the main room. I asked if there were any tables in the main room instead as it was my friends first time and I wanted her to see the beautiful main room, but the snobby host man scoffed at me and said “YOU only booked yesterday so of course there is no availability in the main room.” Yes, I booked the reservation the day before. However, pointing fingers at the customer for booking one day in advance rather than saying “Sorry there is not currently any availability in the main room but I will let you know if something comes available” certainly was the wrong way of handling my request. Food is usually excellent but this time I had eggs benedict that were cold when they arrived at the table. I decided not to complain because I was already frustrated enough about the cold, snobby host. It was an extremely offputting start to a subpar meal.
We were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary in Toronto, checking reviews we decided on La Societe. We were very happy with our choice.
We were seated in a booth so we sat next to each other which was very nice. Our server was very nice. Everything was very nice. Very good food and drinks. If we are in Toronto again We would eat here again. Also would recommend to friends and family.
We were waiting for our food for over 45 minutes and when it got there it was cold. Ordered lobster Benedict and prime rib hash. The presentation was terrible and the taste was bland for both dishes. Especially for the price it was not worth it at all. I will not go back.
The overall experience was about 2 hours long - our waitress only came by to explain the hold up on our drinks, and then our meals, we didn't receive our drinks until 30 mins after we sat down, and our food about an hour and 20 mins from seating. Food was good, but service sucked. Shared our unpleasantries with the waitress - brought it to her manager, they took25% off bill... being in the service industry, would have been nice for the manager to have showed their face to our table to regain our business... But apparently they believe 25% off our bill would do just that. There are lots of brunch options in Toronto, won't be going back here.
Always good food and service, great ambience, staff makes you feel very comfortable and they know their stuff.
Great attentive service. Disappointed with the food. The food was luke-warm. Croissants are not made in house. They were mediocre and not your stereotypical French croissant which is what I expected. Overall, I expected better quality food in relation to the menu prices.
I would think twice about going there again.
Amazing experience and wonderful menu, the ambiance is great
Excellent service. Food was terrific and a nice wine selection as well. Overall a terrific experience.
Service was very good, however our steaks were cold and done wrong once they were brought back. The staff did compensate us with wine and dessert which was very nice, but for the price point, the food was disappointing.
The food was ok. I ordered the Quiche with broccoli and cheese I am still looking for them. My salad came with radishes and cherry tomatoes, the other two salads that there ordered had no radishes and one had no tomatoes as well. The service was ok.
The food was awful and very overpriced for what you got.
We live in the area and have had the Beef Bourguignon several times this winter and brought friends on Saturday night, highly recommending this dish. All four of us had it. What a disappointment. They were brought to the table within a couple of minutes, all lukewarm and not nearly as good as before. Very disappointing. Not sure when/if we'll be back.
I dined at La Societe for this past Sunday for brunch. Our server Louis was excellent! He gave us great recommendations. I had the waffles are they were delicious!! My friend and I opted for the limitless mimosas. It took over 20 minutes for us to get our drinks. My first mimosa wasn't exactly worth the wait either-- it tasted like it was 90% OJ with a splash of champagne. My friend's mimosa was the complete opposite it like pure champagne with a touch of juice. Every other part of our brunch was superb except for the inconsistency in our $35 drinks. I would recommend La Societe for brunch but SKIP the amateur bartender drinks!
Forgot to seat us so we ended up waiting 25 minutes and then received food that was over cooked. Not a great first experience! Certainly won’t be back.
the service at la societe is always exceptional! zac and micheal helped our table
Excellent setup, ambience- just a beautiful venue. Service was excellent. Thank you to Brandon, who served us!
Awesome! My server was very attentive and I loved the whole experience! It is my second time here and I would definitely go again.
The ambience is lovely! The restaurant is gorgeous! The food is rich but very well prepared. The service is excellent!
Very good food, excellent wine suggestion and superb service!
I made the reservation for just myself and was given probably the worst table - beside the service area where servers constantly pick up items as well as the main traffic area of diners going in and out. (do restaurants have access to how much a person dines on OpenTable - if so I would likely have gotten a better table. Normally I don’t settle for a bad table but didn’t realize it right away) The food did not live up to the reviews but overall was a nice atmosphere. Service was excellent.
Went with daughter on eve of Queen's Park Page Program... a very special night that did not disappoint in ambience or quality...
The food was very good although the porion size of the seared foie gras was small, it was tasty. The sommelier was helpful finding us the wine we wanted.
