Hostess was extremely rude and told us we had to leave the table asap
The food needs a lot of attention. Our table received a steak that was very fatty as well as cold mashed potatoes. A side order of mushrooms was undercooked. The truffle burrata was not soft inside and the truffle flavour was weak.
Awesome food and great, attentive service.
I really like this restaurant overall, and have dined here before. Unfortunately, both of our mains were slow to arrive and luke-warm at best (but tasty otherwise.) One was pasta and one was the daily special, so really no excuse. That being said, we told our server and we were comped two desserts (which we had not planned on ordering.)
Excellent wine list, attentive service. Our pâté appetizer was excellent! Despite this blip, we will return. Music a tad loud for our tastes but perhaps we are just old 😂
Love the French bistro ambiance. Dishes are typical of that type of restaurant with the quality of the food excellent.
Service was great as well. We told our server we had to be finished by a certain time as we were going to a show nearby and he was very attentive to getting us out on schedule, even though the place was quite busy.
Excellent wine list, if not hugely extensive.
Prices are quite reasonable.
As always good food at good value - will be back
Great for work dinners or couples
Would give them another shot. The duck confit, and shortrib were not executed at a high level .
I've been to La Societe several times for dinner. This was the first time I've come for brunch. I love the decor. The place buzzes with energy and the service is excellent. The restaurant was my choice for a small group. The food I've enjoyed at dinners was very good. Brunch was less impressive. It wasn't bad. Just okay. I expected better.
Beautiful restaurant but Brunch is very busy. Think it's difficult for them to manage big groups. Food is tasty but long waits for drinks and service and food a little cold.
Great front house staff that makes up for shortcomings from the kitchen. But nevertheless an enjoyable experience.
The meal was cold! The beef bourgeon was beef sous vide and everything was not cohesive...and no apologies and no remedies. We will never be back!
This is the second time in two weeks. First visit was on a Friday, last visit a Saturday. It was pretty full and busy. Despite this, the staff made us feel relaxed and welcome. Also, having only 1.5 hours, because of a concert, we still did not feel rushed or uncomfortable. The food is French done really well. The staff knew the dishes in detail. Excellent in every way.
Great atmosphere and delicious food😍🥰😍
Went very late - 1045 and kitchen closes at 11. Kind enough to wait. Service was great. Nice ambiance - on the quiet side. Great food. A bit pricey. Would go back.
Great food, fresh oysters and really nice service.
Beautiful setting for a special night out with loved ones. Service was great from the moment we walked in
to the restaurant until we left. Food options are plenty and our meal was delicious. We were surprised by the
special on bottles of wine at 1/2 price!
The service and dinner were both outstanding. Plus we were able to order wine at half price. That was a pleasant surprise. We’ll certainly recommend “La Société” to our friends.
Great waiter and host in the front. Really good service and food.
My order salmon benedicte was quite cold and the muffins seemed tough and difficult to cut too they may have been stale. I was very disappointed. The waffle was better but a little undercooked.
Other than that service was good and atmosphere was great
Make no mistake this is a beautiful restaurant but the service and follow thru didn't match the lux decor. Here's how my visit played out;
time from being seated to server acknowledgement and menus arriving 10 minutes
time from arrival until cocktail arrived 25 minutes - order wrong
appetizer plates still on table when main courses arrived
waiter well intended but didn't know how to handle more than one table
steak ordered med-rare arrived med-well
asked for bill - bread basket and empty martini glasses still on table when we left
no mention or offer of dessert
It felt like i paid 5 star prices for a diner experience
The restaurant is one of my favourites for brunch. We chose to go for dinner on Friday evening. We arrived at 7:15 and left after 9:30 not by choice. I have never waited so long for a dinner ever. We ate so much bread during the wait that dinner was less enjoyable. The food was good minus the fish with grapefruit which I wouldn’t recommend as it was ice cold. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all so I’m still not quite sure what the problem was. The wait staff was seasoned. It must have been a kitchen problem. I will be back but likely only for brunch.
Great food and ambience. Cocktails are well crafted and ambient noise was best early in the dinner hour block.
On my recent visit, it was as it always is here. A great place to see and be seen. This time I ran into a VIP which was a bonus. My friend and I opted for lunch. Our waiter was very cordial suggesting which wine with a tasting. We chose that one. I had the omelet and green salad with fab fries. Don't forget the bread basket. Always a favourite.
Friendly staff, excellent ambience and the buck-a-shuck oysters on Thursdays, along with half-price wine until 8pm are tough to beat! Highly recommended!
The service was quite poor the girl was confused and table maintenance did not exist. Dishes came out cold, overcooked and had multiple missing items.
We have been coming to La Societé for +8 years now.
Although the food is always consistently good, the service has really dropped off, a lot
When we went this past Saturday at 7:45pm, it wasn't busy.
It took 25 minutes before we got our cocktails and any bread on our table.
The server wasn't prompt or attentive.
Ambience and décor are amazing, service is fabulous, food is ok however I feel the is very far away from having a French taste.
This is our 2nd visit to La Societe, and we enjoyed it both times (was a Birthday in both cases).
The staff, service and food were superb! We were seated at a semi-circular booth and it was great!
Always a favorite for oysters, wine and steak frites! Great wine list, excellent service!
Delicious menu options, fun, vibrant place. We would have preferred more attention to our drinks order. The timing was off with the food, meaning we still had most of our cocktails left while our appetizers came out. We prefer to have finished our cocktails before the food came out, to then enjoy a glass of wine with our food. Minor detail, but I wish servers would realize this and give people more time to enjoy their cocktails before serving the food.
Love coming here— the service is excellent, and the food is great. Nicoise Salad was perfect, tuna seared just perfect. The freshness of their food is obvious. Can’t wait to come back.
Daniel is a wonderful addition to the LaSociette experience. The food and service is always excellent
Beautiful decor, good menu and food. The $ doesn’t concern me and shouldn’t dissuade even the budget conscious from trying it for a true upscale French bistro experience.
I have been to this restaurant several times before - always had a good experience, which is why I chose it this time. Unfortunately, the service was not good - worse I've experienced in a long time. We were ignored, waited for more than 30 minutes to order, and the wait staff were rude.
This experience was not what I expected it to be. The service was super slow and our server would ignore us when he would go by the table most of the time. This made it hard to order drinks.
One of the entrees came out super early with the appetizers. When we asked no explanation was given. After the server did not explain but apologized three more entrees came out. This left two guests with no meal for at least 15 minutes. We tried waiting but our food was getting cold. It was so awkward eating all at different times. Again there were apologies given but no compensation made.
The birthday cake came out and they promised they would have their own candles and they didn’t. Luckily my parents had one back up candle. At this point they maybe could have offered to cut the cake for free. Again no compensation was made.
I would not recommend anyone to have their birthday here. It was disappointing.
Had a good experience. Food was fantastic. Wine menu expansive. Service was good but found the servers came by too often. Wish the dessert menu choices were larger as we would have stayed longer. Patio was nice but the seats are uncomfortable - plastic chairs not really suitable for a French Cuisine upscale like restaurant. Wish they had heaters on the patio as it was somewhat chilly. Music could have been louder to drown out the traffic noise. Overall nice.
Too expensive for what you get
Excellent service! I had the coquilles st. Jacques. It was ok, but I definitely prefer other items on the menu (the tartare is really good). The cocktail menu was also really interesting. I tried the grapefruit one as well as the scotch/rye cocktail. Both very well crafted. See you again soon!
Some of the most pleasant waiters I have encountered. Very relaxed and pleasant dispositions. Outstanding ambiance and good food!
